same here. i've never been a big fan of MH, but i got Stories out of curiosity and i loved every second of it. the combat, some of the silly animations and story i found to be a lot of fun. it reminded me of Yo-Kai Watch: cute but deceptively difficult at points. I'm hoping this will get more people into Stories so that they continue to make more of this spin off

Monster hunter stories is the first game I've played in the franchise. So, I'm really happy they made a sequel to this and hopefully it's a open world game like botw.

I tried the 3DS version MH3 and 4, but couldn't get into those much. Then I tried the first Monster Hunter Stories, and despite the limited weapon choices or monsters to ride, it was really good. Hopefully this one will include more weapon types as well as monsters to ride.

I haven't played Stories (I might buy this one) but the main games are typically semi open world via several large maps that you visit everytime you accept a quest at the hub area. Rise which released a few weeks ago is the most open with the new wire bug mechanics allowing for free form movement, climbing, jumping, and even wall running. It's even incorporated into combat as well for offensive, defensive, and evasive options.

@@nevm5776 If you're referring to Stories 2, then it's releasing on both Switch and PC on July 9th of this year. Edit: I don't think they plan on porting it to mobile like the first one anytime soon.

@@cyasta2357 You don't have to, they are separate. Think of these as Dragon Quest 7 to 11, they are stand alone games that you don't have play the others first to play the latest.

@@cyasta2357 I think it's not necessary, but will probably enhance the experience since Red is supposed to be the first game's protagonist and he and Ratha, which was the Rathalos from the first game, seem to play some sort of big role in the second game. :) I don't think you have to play it to enjoy this one though.

I've never been invested in the story modes in any of the main Monster Hunter games and I usually run to the multiplayer section as soon as I get it unlocked, but I can see myself enjoying this one. Will definitely pick this up.

I can see how the traditional Monster Hunter games can be really awesome, but for me, Id rather Stories, cause I dont wanna just kill. I wanna make friends with my monsties! Riding a monstie and bonding with them was soo awesome in the first game, and you feel truly connected to them. To me, Stories is the definitive Monster Hunter game, so Im soo freaking hype for Wings of Ruin

I mean you don't necessarily need to kill in Monster Hunter either, unless we're talking Elder Dragons. You can capture them, and World confirmed that nothing lethal happens to the monsters when you do.

In traditional Monster Hunter the sense of comradery comes from your trust in the NPC and other hunters :P But I'm ngl Stories does the friendship aspect incredibly well, it makes even Pokemon pale in comparison.

@@wcc7986 actually they did explain it. basically lute is actually Red(canon game name) and you are his grandchild in this trailer that old man is Red now old but still alive. you should go onto the offical website and check some of this out. (only thing that doesnt make since is navirou should be old too but hes still alive and looks pretty young so idk)

This game is so underrated and deserves more love! MHST are excellent series with unique storytelling!! Don't say that it's for kids judging it only by its artstyle! It's a beautiful game and now the sequel is coming finally on Switch and it's literally giving me BotW vibes! I'm so happy!

Those who wonder if they can play this without playing through the first one.. You can. It has aspects that are tied to the first one but nothing so fundamental that you couldn't keep up with the game, the story and characters are all new and different except for Navirou. For those interested in playing the first game, it's also available on mobile for Android & iOS and works really well! Doesn't cost all too much either. The first game was great and Stories 2 seems to be even better. This truly is the Pokemon game we all deserve.

@@mic01851165 doubt a double, yea its a sequel but lets look at pokemon, gen 1 was the original 151, then gen two came in and added 82 i believe, then gen 3 was somewhere in the 100's and gen 4 was around 121 i believe, gen 5 was about 80 and gen 6 was around 60, then gen 7 another 60
