Yeah, I watched them last night. Actually Sinner had chance to win the match, but he did some unforced errors due the critical points, and also in the second set when he leaded 4-2, unfortunately Rafa came back and end the game 4-6. I think that was one of best match of the day, beside Thiem that almost lost in the tie break 4-5 but he could handle it and won the third set 6-0. Wow! By the way, Sinner (born 2001) still so young, he needs to improve his game more and he has a good potential to be a top player!
@herrmannmunster
@herrmannmunster 2 роки тому
@@reinamasaya898 I think that's a good analysis of the match. In the key points at the end of each set you could tell that Nadal has much more experience than Sinner. And of course he does, he's been a professional since before Sinner was born! But the Italian definitely has the shots to become a great winner. As a Rafa fan, I will not be too annoyed if Sinner beats Nadal next time they play because he is wonderful to watch!

@effeelle91 2 роки тому
You are right but... today Sinner didn't serve worst than Nadal! About same average speed and a superior % of 1st Serve than the hispanic. I watched the match and they played great, I believe Sinner lost because of centimeters. He was always pushing the ball very near the base line and too many times it went a littl bit over. @@effeelle91 I'm surprised about one thing, he has a modern extreme grip but his strokes are quite flat (with spin when he wants to), but his timing is impeccable and strokes so clean, it's beautiful to watch. He gets such easy power but if he controls his aggression just enough he will be lethal. He can improve on his serving variety too, but his potential is off the charts. At their level, executing key shots makes the difference (basically 1 inch in or out). His frame is quite light for a pro player but that's why he gets the acceleration he does even with an extreme grip plus his timing is Top 5 level.

@@zirkvandenberg3304 I agree , Murray was a great defender and a even better counter puncher than Medvedev ,and yet his worst surface is clay . They kinda meet the same problem , they are not known to be a top-spin player and usually don’t have enough power to hit through the ball , although Murray can hit bigger from both wings he doesn’t really do it often. Tennis is more complicated than it looks , people usually think good foot-work means good for clay ,but the like of Murray ,Medvedev ,Agut will disagree , also past players like Agassi and Hewitt are better grass court player than clay . De-Minaur is also known for his speed ,but suck on clay tremendously.

The editors did not do Sinner any justice! All those great shots and the break points during the match! Rafa had to work hard in that encounter with Jannick. One of the best matches so far. And Thiem was clutch! Fucsovics was in control until the end of the second set, then the third Domi just took over! What a champion's heart! Ah...Tsitsipas was doing his thing vs Cilic, and Karatsev over Medvedev, like who didn't see that coming! Congrats to all of the day's winners.

Never know where the guy Karatsev was the last few years but he's cool and becomes an unpredictable barrier for top 10 players, his backhands are undeniably powerful and dangerous. Stefanos plays beautifully every single match with his own style which I believe is hugely inspired by Federer. I, at first, feel a bit disappointed about the future in which there is no 3 big, but I realize that we can have big 5, big 7 with those everyday-better next-gen stars.

@@georgekent8774 I've just watched the match and I'm evaluating the match. I'm sorry but it is you that are evaluating the immense career of Rafa against the few matches play by a young 19 y.o. I'm not saying that Sinner is stronger than the tennis player Nadal. I'm saying: today this difference between the two wasn't that much. Sinner conducted the majority of the game, he was ahead of one break in both sets and basically lost only because of some potential winners that went out for few centimeters.
@banburydrumtuition8651

@@effeelle91 A great match, agreed but a centimetre or a 5 inches, it might as well have been a mile. All brought about because of the continuous question Nadal asks of his opponents. "How long can you keep this level up, because I can do this all day". The difference with Nadal, Novak and Federer, is that their shots are often a few centimetres in, not out and they've done it consistently for the last 20 years. The next gen are a little slow on the uptake in my opinion. Novak, Fed and Nadal had already achieved way more at 19, 20 & 21 than most players of today will ever achieve during their entire career.

medvedev hits a very flat ball so doing that, while still difficult, is made easier because the ball is right at Aslan's contact point. When playing rafa, the ball will bounce to shoulder, maybe even head height so its near impossible to be able to rely on the DTL backhand against Rafa on clay. Even Novak, who has the best change of direction backhand, struggles to get a grip on Rafa on this surface.
@susa4727
@susa4727 2 роки тому

In fact, Rafa and Novak seem to be upping their work rate and are loving the challenge. As Novak said at the Australian Open before destroying Medvedev, "I'm gonna make them (next gen) work their ass off!" Clearly Rafa is of the same mind set.
