A review of the OneTigris Cosmitto 2.0 tent. This was my 3rd outing in the tent and what better place to test it out than a windy, damp Northumberland hill. I've uploaded this video separately, for those that just want to see the tent review. The full video will be uploaded in the next hour or so, and you can get a better look at it, and see how it handled the winds the night before.
It's a decent 3 season budget tent, with a great size to weight ratio. It comes in at 2.126kg trail weight, 2.3kg packed weight.
There were a couple of things I wasn't happy with, but overall it's a good buy from Amazon at the moment.

Oof another Miss D Tent Review🤔 Ok well on first looks I’m going with a Woodstock Portaloo on looks alone🙈 Let’s be Honest and Blunt here it ain’t no Kuiu is it. Colours not bad as it certainly blends in and I must admit I’m not a Lover of Green Tents so this is a bit more adventurous and then you realise the Floor is Going to absorb the H2O and have you grabbing around for the pampers you packed. Yeah Good try Onetigris but just leave your number and we will call you back Later🙈 All Told Donna you Told it like it is and that’s Commendable,Great Review as Always🙏👍⛺️

Hahahaha, that's proper tickled me that comment 😂😂 Yeah, it wasn't the most attractive of tents, but it was nice and stealthy, and blended in well with the moors and heather up here. Great space to weight ratio, but the poles were a little on the thin side (7.5mm I measured them as) and the floor wetting out like that was no good, no chance I want to have to pack Pampers to soak up any excess moisture 😂😂 You know me Neilo, I'm always 100% honest with my tent reviews, no clickbait or nowt, I'll just tell it like it is 😁😁 (look at you with 2 comments posted and no problems woohoo!!)

Looks like the dew off the heather has caused the moisture. Happens if you pitch in vegetation. Could be a ground sheet issue at face value? In the video it looks a bit scrunched up? You’ll get moisture in all the little folds that’ll soak into the floor of the tent. You can get a ground sheet off onetigres that fits this tent perfectly for about £20.
@donnavansenior
@donnavansenior 4 місяці тому
It's a good enough 3 season tent, nice and stealthy and the space to weight ration is impressive. The groundsheet however wasn't very impressive, it was returned with no quibbles to OneTigris. Unless I pitched on gravel or sand I'd always be pitched in vegetation, yes the heather was damp, and it rained overnight, but there's no way a tent floor should have wetted through like that on only the 2nd time out. OneTigris don't put a HH rating on their groundsheets, they just state it's 70D nylon. Compare that to an MSR Elixir 2 - they use a 70D nylon but theirs has a 3000 HH with DWR treatment. The groundsheet I used underneath it was a top quality Quintcraft co.uk one, custom made to fit my Storm Star, it also fits a lot of my other tents as they're pretty much a standard shape when they have 2 doors. There was no pooling of water on top of the groundsheet, and it was only scrunched up a bit because the heather was deep. I've owned many tents, I have a nice tent collection at home with both expensive and budget tents, and I've never had a new tent wet out on the floor like this. TFW Lee :)

Ey-Up Andy. My knee's slowly on the mend thanks, I'm not letting it keep me in, but I'm taking it a bit easier and choosing places to camp in without too much of a big hike. The OneTigris got sent back for a refund, it's not really suited to 3 seasons up north 😅 and I doubt I'll ever sell the Hydra - but I have a friend selling hers (Llama Annie), she's got it up for £95 on FB marketplace, I could have a word with her if you'd be interested.....

Yip, I totally agree Nick, it's more suited to lowland milder weather, or as you say, a great tent for the woods. For the money it's a really good buy if you use it wisely 😁⛺

I do like those dome tents you can sit up and have plenty of space and not a bad weight, given the size and great colour. Agree with you on her being a girl, especially when she was naked and was that a tick next to your cloths peg. I love my Helm 1 and it all going up and down in one, rather that the inner and outer and although I have only done one wildcamp this year it was in total dryness, so real happy with that too. Interesting to see what it would be like on a proper rainy night, cheers Alan

Hya Alan - yeah it's got a great space to weight ratio this tent, and for £119 on Amazon I think it's a great deal, especially for a more casual camper that won't be out in daft weathers 😂 The winds the previous night really tested this tent and I'd say 25-30mph would be the max it could comfortably cope with (I uploaded that vid separately). Well spotted with the clothes peg / tick, but it was only a brown spider. I had a few in there on top of the inner overnight. I've thankfully not had many ticks this year, 4 or 5 maybe. Llama Annie has a Helm 1 so I've seen one up close, it's a great tent but it's far too small for me lol, I like a bit more space and always prefer a tent with 2 doors. It can take a beating mind, we were camped in some strong winds that night and it stood proud 👍🏼 Cheers Alan :)

Hi Donna, Nice, quick review of the Cosmitto but the damp patches look like a bit of a downer. Perhaps you got the Friday afternoon one. I wonder if bit of additional waterproofing underneath might circumvent this issue. ATVB from a sunny and wet Malaysia

@donnavansenior 6 місяців тому
Hya Razif - yeah I try and keep my tent reviews straightforward and to the point 😁 For the money, and used in fairer conditions this is a really good buy on Amazon at the moment. It's not really suited for 3 seasons up north though, it struggled with 20+mph winds the night before and all that mesh makes for a colder camp, especially in higher winds. Laughing at the Friday afternoon comment 😂 the guy at the factory might have had a sharp finish that day. I sent the tent back due to the wetting out of the groundsheet, that really shouldn't happen and I lost confidence in the tent after seeing that. I'm now awaiting a new tent coming, but not another OneTigris....... haha, what am I like? Always great to hear from you, is it rainy season over your way at the mo? atb DVS :)

@@donnavansenior Hi Donna, our rainy season is from Oct to Feb but it's still damn hot when it rains - just like taking a warm shower! Still doesn't deter a trip to my local woods for a few hours, a brew, a quick cook up and a chillout and watching the local wildlife. Good luck with the new tent and look forward to your next adventure 👍

I'll maybe have a look into that MrJolly. It's nice to share info on some of the cheaper half decent stuff I use. That Flextail copy pump/light is a great deal at £12.99, I just edited the vid description to include the Amazon link for it 😁 And for the money this is a really decent tent, ok it's more suited for milder weather, but on lower level camps or in the woods it's perfect :)

Hiya donna.. A good honest review there. Its a real shame the bathtub on yours wetted out as bad as that.. Plus I agree, the main door tiebacks are a faff, nice chunky buckle type thing, but way down too low. I also use a peg or two on my main fly doors or using a trekking pole I've pulled mine open attached the bottom of the door to the top of my walking pole then guylined it steady.. I've used and been out in mine 3 times now, twice in the rain on soggy ground without a groundsheet and had no issues or condensation. I'm wondering if yours missed the pu coating part of production on the bathtub ?? .. I love mine, its a great roomy 3 season tent. But I wouldn't trust it in gusty winds upto 30 mph plus as you say. Buy I have placed 4 extra guylines on mine since 😁 It's more bulky packed down than my vango helium f10 and weighs a lot more. But I love how big it is, and I can even put up a normal full size camping chair in the centre of mine ( if I move my sleep system out of the way a bit ). Excellant with both flysheet doors front and back open 👍😁 I'm going to give mine a go during winter if I see the winds are low and just use my winter sleep system 😁 Yes.. I still fancy a mountain star or the storm star but I've a little van to convert now 🤣😁 so the kuli will have to wait awhile.. Hope your well, and good to see you out and about again.. Are you sure you didn't spill a beer in there 🤣🤣😁🤗 xx

Hya Mike, a great comment from a fellow Cosmitto owner 😁 Yip, 3rd time out for me as well, and I loved this tent, it has everything I like and look for in a tent, and it's going for a great price at the moment on Amazon. I know it's a 3 season tent, all that mesh in the inner screams 3 season, but 3 seasons up north is different to 3 seasons further down the country 😂 and it struggled in the winds the previous night (I've just uploaded the video of the actual camp, so you can see what the tent looked like taking 20+mph winds), and the floor wetting out was final the nail in it's coffin. I'm unsure if I had a defective tent that had missed out on any waterproofing, but I wasn't a happy chappy. On the plus side, water beaded off the fly beautifully (apart from the storm flaps) and no moisture penetrated the inner mesh - and it was a misty claggy atmosphere up there overnight/in the morning. For the money it's a really good buy, great internal space, decent storage (but those pockets are a little bit on the baggy side), the twin doors are a massive selling point for me, as is the nice T-zip configuration on the inner doors. I like the full mesh design, but obviously that makes the tent a little bit colder and it would be hard to retain any heat in there, so not really for use in the colder months unless you're hard as nails 😂😂 What little van have you got yourself? You'll absolutely love being the owner of a tiny home Mike, it opens up so many more possibilities for us hikers and campers that love spending extended periods of time outside, plus they make great base vehicles :) Catch up soon Mike, if you're heading up this way try to give me at least a month's notice. Ciao for now DVS :-) X

Initially I was chuffed to bits with it Mick, it has a fantastic space to weight ratio, and has all the features I like in a tent (namely 2 doors, good head height and liveable space, double zips on fly, decent internal storage), but for 3 seasons up Nawth it was on it's limit with the winds the previous evening, (I've just uploaded the video of the actual camp) then the problem the floor wetting out like that.....soon as I saw that next morning I knew it was going back. It's a great tent though for the casual camper. Cheers Mick, tfw, DVS :)

Yip, I wasn't best pleased with the floor wetting out like that. For the money it's a great tent for milder weather and woodland camps, but there were a few issues with it, the floor being the major one, and back to Amazon it went. I spent the refund money on another tent 😂😂
