Eating 6 of these daily can help to reduce bone loss in clients that have osteoporosis or osteopenia. Systemic inflammation can make the bone loss even greater. Therefore, anti-inflammatory foods can help to reduce the amount of bone loss. Osteoporosis playlist for additional videos • Osteoporosis Ex's & B...

I could eat 12 prunes and not have a laxative effect. ( I have good bowels already) Everyone is different. Spreading the prunes through the day will be best. Maybe check the sugar levels in all the things your eating ( inc carb load in pasta,rice, potatoes) and substitute those that do you no good anyway for prunes. Or maybe 3 prunes . Everybody is different. Balance of foods is key.

What a lovely compilation - perfect for me with the exercises I need. I used to swim 3 x daily for 1.5 hrs per day while working in E. TN (in the lakes) I like privacy. Not interested in being seen by anyone. 45 intense hrs of work weekly and being a Velcro attachment to my office chair is making it tricky! I have to find a way to fit it in. Prunes will help your bowels moving, which assists in the lymphatic system flowing. Chronic constipation means everything is backed up, including your body's ability to build bone. I'm 55 and nobody ever told me pooping twice a month wasn't normal. I have severe bone loss in my skull from a molar's roots being in my sinus cavity, resulting in a life long infection, which caused chronic & severe constipation. Found out about the bone loss when I found out about the tooth. The day after the tooth was out the constipation ended.

@tjkasgl
@tjkasgl 2 місяці тому
@@seniormale you have no idea. The constipation began when I was a toddler and started getting used for pleasure by a grandfather. I was raised by a narcissistic mother who completely ignored me and ridiculed any health issues. When I was 14 I was getting into a car when the driver of the car stepped on the gas and pulled out of the parking space. My foot was wedged against the wheel as it moved forward, folding my foot in half. My mom refused to take me to the doctor for two weeks. So, I completely agree with you. The constipation is the least of my problems

Prunes are delicious! Why have we not been told these simple things to defer bone loss by our physicians before? Thank you for not just the diet tips but the exercises too! Edit to just FYI; My Dr wanted me to get all my dental work done before he put me on a osteoporosis drug. I was at my dentist yesterday and updated him on my Dr appt Monday. I got a severe lecture from him (dentist) to NOT go on the osteoporosis drugs if I could possibly avoid it. He said if I started and he needed to pull a tooth it was possible I wouldn't heal from the extraction. He pointed out all the side effects that could include losing my jaw from an extraction. He did say the drugs are good at what they do but not if I need certain dental work. I encourage anyone reading this to include your dentist in your decision to take these drugs or not.

In our Indian culture, we soak either a teaspoonful of black raisins or about 5 to 6 almonds overnight, drain the water out and have either one of them. For the almonds, take out the skin first before consuming them. Or in the morning, take about 2 tablespoons of milk, add about just a bit of curd, add some raisins, stir thoroughly about, say 35x and let it set and have it either before or after lunch.

I walk 10,000 steps daily but need to add weight exercise use. I have Osteroporosis and getting Prolia shots for two years so far. Age 70.I take Cal./Mag. and eat two dairy servings. You are lucky and good for you! Many older females in family had Osteoporosis. First I heard of prunes for bones?

Yah! Yoke. Wow! That's great. I recently had a bone density test and my doc said I had the bones of a young adult which is the average result. But I do have osteoarthritis in my wrists which I exercise with light weights.

I’ll try this but I’d honestly be surprised if it magically improved my osteopenic bone density. The explanation for why they work seems too good to be true coz there’s so many other foods rich in antioxidants.

Yes, of course but please remember there’s so many other things that go into building a new bone. Other lifestyle considerations, weight, bearing exercises, and strength training. I think we just want to throw everything we can add it and hope it moves the needle.

If our doctors/ gynos were educated and would educate us on HRT then we wouldn't be suffering from so much osteoporosis, dementia and heart disease. So many new studies that have come out proving that HRT DOES NOT CAUSE BREAST CANCER!!!!! The womans health initiative study back in early 2000's was a floored study not well put together and put the fear in all doctors and woman regarding HRT. It is such a dis service to woman to not at least even offer this therapy. You have to be your own advocate today. It WILL save your bones your heart and your brain. It's a fact. Without Estrogen everything goes down hill. It's just like a diabetic that doesn't make insulin any longer so they take insulin. It's just common sense. replace the hormone with a biogenetical hormone . It's not just about hot flashes .Menopause can be very debilitating between weight gain, anxiety. It is way beyond the dryness, brain fog, dry eyes and hot flashes. Our healthcare system is a disgrace!! They want to fix us after we are broken. My girlfriend always worked out and now at age 56 was diagnosed with osteopenia. It's not only about strength training. We need the hormones that kept our bones strong. Plus all these other things in conjunction.

Thank you for your videos on osteoporosis. Sharing information is important as many doctors do not look past calcium, weight bearing exercise and prescription drugs. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine and went on a major research hunt for information and have discovered a lot. The issue of prunes came to light and the clinical trials that claim improved bone density. When I checked further, the research was funded by the Prune growers, however the research appears legit. I would suggest that prunes are effective because they are high in Vitamin K which is an essential nutrient in calcium being deposited into the bones. The 6 prunes would give you over 50% of the daily vitamin k requirement. I took the prunes for a few months before finding out about the Vitamin K so I’ve switched to taking a K supplement and only having a couple of prunes as they are really high in sugar and might cause problems for some people’s digestive system. Just a thought. I absolutely agree that all osteo patients must have a properly supervised bone building exercise regime because bone cells will not be stimulated to deposit bone unless bones are stressed sufficiently through exercise.

Thank you magpiegirl3783. As a diabetic, I can't imagine eating any dried fruit as it would cause me to crave carbs and raise my blood sugar. I read that taking vitamin K2 was beneficial, so I am trying that. Your information validates what I previously read.

You made me want to eat prunes! Few doctors have said the same too. But I am still hesitant. Doesn't it feel like 6 is too sugar in a day for anyone, young or old? I am hesitant because I don't want to eat myself into being insulin resistance, having 6 prunes per day. That's 180 prunes a month, 2160 prunes a year! That is a lot of sugar. What is your view on this? Thank you.
