As people also point out, the Ryzen 5500 lacks support for PCIE4, which can lower FPS with this Gen 4 GPU. It's fine for a temporary basis, but again, a CPU upgrade would be recommended long term! Thanks to everyone who pointed this out!

Respectfully disagree with even buying this to start. If people are on a budget then they will spend more money later to replace it. Wait another paycheck if you must. Buy once to keep overall cost down. The minimum Zen3 for any gamer ESPECIALLY with a modern 8x gpu is the 5600. 5500/5600G is for people running older gpus like pascal with 300 or 400 series boards and not building for future upgrade path in mind. 16mb L3 cache is just another reason to avoid 5500/5600g/5700g/5700. Very bad suggestion from such a polished channel.

@@45eno or just grab a 3600x on the used market for 3-4x less if you're really on a budget and upgrade to the 5600 or higher a couple years down the track. I recently bought a used ryzen 5 3600x for $50usd and it came with the wraith spire cooler.

I bought the non-overlocked version of this card recently from Palit because they had the best feedback on Truspilot and I'm happy with it. Almost all the offerings were overclocked, which I don't think is a good idea with this card, because of it's design limitations. It's designed to run fast and cool already, and has limited VRAM and bus width so won't deliver much more than it does already.

@@d4nith3 it's been proven that the difference between gen 3 vs gen 4 isn't all that significant. Hardware Unboxed did a video where they tested a 3080 on a pcie 3 vs 4 and the difference was minimal

@@Audiosan79 ancient gameplays more recently did a test of the rx 7600 and most titles from pcie 3 to 4 had minimal differences. In the end it comes down to price in your area. If you can find the ryzen 5500 for a good price you won't be disappointed. Where I'm at I've seen the 5500 for half the cost of the 5600 which is pretty significant

Small thing I do on builds like this, spin the CPU fan 90 degrees so the AMD logo is at the top. Little thing, but aesthetically more pleasing.

this is my current budget pc for 2024 and i love it. i can play any game from medium to ultra depending on the games on 1080p. my recommendation is to get at least 32GB RAM so you can open a lot background while gaming like i do.

Modern parts are really good at protecting against static. Jayztwocents actually made a video where he actively tried to fry parts with static on purpose. It was very difficult to do on purpose. Nearly impossible to do by accident.

You shouldn't overhang your RAM slots with the AMD logo bump on the stock cooler. You can unscrew the shroud and put it in any position you like. The way you installed the cooler, you will have to remove the cooler or at least the shroud if you want to populate the second memory bank. 50ms of latency in a single player game is terrible. I already thought the 4060 was probably crap. Thanks for confirming. I'm shocked you didn't run out of VRAM with both frame gen and RT on. But Cyberpunk isn't as VRAM heavy as future games are likely to be.

I have a similar build myself. Bought it pre-built from AWD-It, However mines all white, Has Asus Rog Strix B550-A ATX whiteish Motherboard. AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, Asus Dual RTX white OC 4060, And a 650W Bronze PSU.. My question is. Would i beable to upgrade to say the 12gb RTX 4070 with my current 650W PSU??

Well up to you 7800XT is better value but then lose DLSS and other Nvidia features. Either way you can’t go worng with any of them. But yeah my choice would be the 7800XT for better raterzation and more VRAM than 4070. Note the 7800XT has 16GB VRAM on a 256 bit memory bus. Also I don’t care about Nivdias Features. But if you do than the 4070 is the better choice for you Also for an additional $50 if you still chose Nivdia there is the 4070 super will which beat the 7800XT. However it still has 12GB VRAM.

06:20 If I was to follow this I might well have a very, very hot CPU and maybe a very melted MB, you forgot the thermal paste! I mean if your doing a "how to" this might be helpful to those who might be following along, the ironic thing is you remembered the plastic on the M.2. Or am I forgetting that the AMD fan comes with paste on the bottom, not used a generic fan in a very long time.

I get so mad when I see the 4060 bc it had so much potential if it was just 12GB. Nvidia decided to reduce the VRAM of the 3050 randomly which means they are aware of VRAM being an issue except they are more concerned about saving an extra buck for each 3050 that they barely even make anymore instead of giving people their money's worth with the right amount of VRAM for the 4060.

Get the 3060 12GB or the 6700XT depending on your choice for AMD or Nvidia. Also the CPU is strong enough to handle the 4060 if you decide to buy it.

Hi to answer it was my very first build, after watching loads of UKposts videos, I am retired and keep learning new things loved building the pc. I took care to make it very easy to upgrade at a later date. My screens are newish 1080p so went for 4060ti but with 16gb which works great for the games I play (driving,racing) plus at the time a 4070ti was 2x the price,would like to give thanks to PC Centric for good entertaining and excellent videos.

I do understand, You are going for a cheap gaming pc and if You are not adding different pc cooler (literally 20-30 pounds option) please add some extra fans. It cost around 10 pound for 2-3 fans it will make a difference for sure but will not destroy your wallet.

I like this build except for one thing the 4060. The 4060 while good is really the 4050 because of the 8GB VRAM on 128bit memory bus. Unless Nvidia corrects its price to match the 4050 at around $200, you are better off getting the 3060 12GB as it performs close the 4060 and will more futureproof. Also for AMD people the 6700XT at similar price point will beat out both of them.

128 bit bus but 24mb L2 cache against 3 mo L2 cache for 3060..The L2 cache reduces demands on the GPU's memory interface

True which is why it does lead in some cases, but at 1440p or in titles where VRAM matters it will crush the 4060 big time.

If it was around $150 then no problem an entry level GPU entry level performance. But a 50 class card maketed and priced as 60 is just wrong.

Great build Marcus! I have a similar build except with a Ryzen 5 5600 and by abusing coupon codes I built it for 700USD. I would definitely advise for a 5600 cos you get like 200ish fps on Apex on the same settings, but the 5500 is a decent choice if you're on a tighter budget.

@@Skulledfr i mean for gaming the gpu should always be the bottleneck, but it's a pretty balanced build esp for the price. gets me the performance i want on games like OW2 (300-350fps on high medium), Apex (200ish on high-medium), Forza (80-90, ultra with rt). you'll only really get bottlenecked on cpu heavy games like valorant if you want to push past like 500fps

BRO ztt built a 750 dollar pc w better aesthetics than this and a r5 5600 and rx 7700xt which is easily 1440p ready so if u ask me id go for the ztt build any day of the weak
