Well, actually... 🤓 While, Ivysaur was never available in the wild, there are two examples I can think of when you could encounter Starters in the wild. The first one being Let's Go. The second one, which may or may not counts is Island Scan in Gen 7 which allowed you to find a few rare Pokemon, including starters, including evolved starters. That being said, I thought the same thing tbh

@@kylenova4719 Everyone needs to learn how to use google lens. Unless its some crazy font its never had any trouble with Japanese. It translated the last one as fast as I could get my phone camera in focus.

While the analogy is very clear, it is also very clear that the series offers justifications for why the in-universe practice is supposedly justified. I don’t particularly care that the in-universe facts that are supposed to justify it, are not particularly plausible. So, I suppose, put me down under the “or care” category.

Well, the thing is that the games and the show outright state that the pokemon enjoy it, so I'd say it's more like boxing only more strategic and for some reason involving animals. And less brain damage.

Definitely had to consider this before. It’s very weird. But we have to accept that in the Pokemon universe there are animals that exist almost exclusively to fight one another at the behest of humans. It’s kinda like how in the world of hentai women just can’t get enough of being sexually assaulted. No basis in reality whatsoever; just an outlet for people to engage in dark fantasies without shame, guilt, or (most importantly) actually harming anyone. The moment we map it onto the real world it becomes heinous acts committed by abominable people.

“Pokémon battles are dog fights” The dog fight: 1:00 You know what concept people don’t grasp about Pokémon? “Pocket Monsters” are actual Monsters. Living dead, forces of nature, steal your kids, eat your dreams kind of monsters. THEY attack YOU in the tall grass. (Or at least that’s how it was in gen one I think) Pokémon are innate battlers, battling is an outlet for them to release pent up aggression or something like that. Trainer battles let them go all out and get stronger, a trained Pokémon gets its need for violence satiated, and there’s one less monster on the loose.

Looking at it now though, it is completely nonsensical 😂 Here is my translation of it: "A coconut that's like a man" "A passionate act or plan"? (I haven't seen 挙 used on it's own like that, so it's harder for me to translate it) "I am being called by the forbidden milkshake" "I will take his personal sausage" "Society is against me, but it also needs to learn. I'm sure this man is also forcedly being fed the flesh of the heart" (or something like that. That last sentence just made no sense to me 😂)
