As Clan War Leagues comes to an end and another Town Hall 13 F2P Series coming soon, I wanted to test a theory I was seeing mentioned on Reddit, “Should we focus on Hero Equipment Upgrades more than Hero Upgrading” and was very surprised by the comparison results. So with this information, I will definitely be using Hero Potions to war and collect Ore to Upgrade Hero Equipment. For Hero levels, I will just focus on my New Champion by using the Free Books of Heroes each month. Do you think this will be a more efficient method?

Would be interesting to see. Throughout my COC journey, I was told you must upgrade heroes but now they don't provide much value for a lot of investment.

imo you should rush till you get atleast one hero to the 8d upgrade level (king or queen level 80, or RC level 30, or warden level 60) that way you get the max output from book of heroes each month. also i think hero upgrades have less priority than before but are still important to upgrade because how long are you going to wait on the heroes? you arent going to keep using hero pots all the time are you? you have to upgrade them at SOME point of time.

I were a strong advocate for heroes upgrade before update but had to change my mind after th16, the ores are just important. I predict that next QOL update they will allow heroes to be used while under upgrade but with x2 slower recovery. Heck, even if they made it x4 slower I will still be happy as long as heroes are usable.

im only upgrading mines with books now, i save every gem i can and i buy books from the shop, but im not so sure that i should instead use gems on book of buildings, my heroes are 75-78-55-25

at this point they just NEED to make heroes still avaliable while upgrading, its just makes the game better, and not lock it behind potions either, just make heroes always usable even while upgrading. not getting to use heroes is bad for the game.

I think the fix is to allow you to use your heroes for clan wars and clan war leagues. Your buildings that are upgrading still defend so let me use my heroes during attacks. Then it feels way better to upgrade them knowing you won’t miss out using them in wars.

Yeah i agree and also clan wars are a way to earn ores so not having heroes leaves us with only star bonus ores which is not good enough to upgrade equipment.

EXACTLY, was thinking to tell my friends the exact same thing. Even if hero upgrades are droppwd completely which is highly unlikely, almost impossible to happen, they would still reward you with something for all the leveling up you've done.

I'd say that means we should ignore hero upgrades even more now and abuse the infinite hero potions to get as many ores as possible from wars. Once hero potion/raid shop is nerfed, that's when we start upgrading heroes.

How they should do heroes is how yugioh duel links does its characters. Incorporate a reward system for leveling up heroes so instead of every 5 lvls u get a u strengthen ur ability instead u would gain ores or equips that can only be gotten thru lvling heroes. This way it keeps the hero grind a priority while incentivizing and rewarding how much u grind.

I love the equipment itself. The new currencies and building was unnecessary. Just make the hero equipment selectable on each podium and automatically they scale the same way by level that the old abilities did.

If you guys are active daily you shouldn’t have any problems getting the ore necessary to upgrade your equipment. I haven’t spent a dime on buying ores and have been able to upgrade the gauntlet and eternal tome to level 17 each since the update and cookie event were released by completing the star bonus and participating in wars. This game has always been a grind so I don’t understand why so many of you have a problem. Like I said in the beginning if you guys can complete your star bonus everyday, 2 attacks minimum, you will have the ore necessary to upgrade your equipment. It’s that fucking easy.

The Currency and how you obtain it is fine, the problem is that upgrading Heroes are still unavailable for War and some Clans are REALLY serious about having them all available to participate otherwise you're out, and ignoring these you are still in a disadvantage from not having them. So, the only proper solution is to just make them available for Wars and Leagues only just like upgrading Defenses does (which was updated since upgrading Defenses did stay down for Wars in the past).

Hero levels are needed to defend. SC needs to lower the gem cost for books of heros as well as the hammer as they are no longer tied to abilities and the gains are minimal.

After new update we're upgrading Equipments and Heroes differently. So I think they need to reduce time and resources to upgrade heroes in large scale ..maybe reduce to 50%

I guess they should significantly decrease the time of upgrading heroes to like 3-4 days on max level. The costs should be the same since loot can be farmed indefinitely.

At this point the only real fix is to allow us to use them during upgrades like the rest of the army. The tactical decision reason is absolutely no longer valid because now you actually need to do clan wars to upgrade heroes but without them it is really hard to win wars. So you either neglect their stats or the ability but either option is not really viable. They should work how pets work and the blacksmith building can take over anything related to heroes. Heck the upgrades can even use builders.

well, hero books are a major part of their revenue. They cannot give up on that so easily, but I am sure that they will figure out a way to lessen frustration about it.

It would have been great if they combined 5 level in to one with more cost and time. With each level unlock they could update skill with dark elixir for 5 times while still being able to use heros more often like armys. Used ores for fifth updates or buying new equipment.

@@Random76544 if for example 5 levels in total takes 150000 dark elixir and 6 days to complete, just make the upgrade take the 6 days and 150000 and give me the whole five levels at once. Increase the upgrade times to make up for the fact that we're doing it all at once. Nah i don't think it's a downside really.

Something I don’t see anybody mentioning is that certain pieces of equipment scale with percentage, such as the kings, rage vile, and the wardens rage gym they give a percentage based increased so the higher level your heroes are the bigger the increase

I’ll be upgrading them because they do help on defense, especially the warden. My clan doesn’t require heroes to be up for regular wars, just CWL, so I’ll work on upgrading them 3 weeks out of the month.

@@Runaasu Being able to use heroes in wars is definitely a good way to play clash, but imagine this, your at war you 3 starred your opponent with max hero on your th lvl but at the same time because you didn't lvl your hero resulting a low lvl hero on def, it makes your base a bit easy for most atk strat which also resulting a 3s, where a max hero on def can definitely make your opponent base read(unless your got outTH).

I think they should give more ores when upgrading them and it will ramp up depending on what level they are. Ores can't really be gained casually, you have to participate in war to get it efficiently, so I think upgrading heroes should give more ores so that we can upgrade their equipment faster.

For Warmongers, maintaining potions and upgrading equipment takes priority and now ur builders are free to upgrade ur defenses. For Farmers that also dont war, nothing has changed. For rushed players, their defensive part gets a boost bcoz now u can put all builders into defenses. You will be upgrading ur defense faster than ur offense.

My general advice would be to still keep your heroes down as much as possible, but instead don’t worry about maxing them out. What ever you don’t finish can be finished the next town hall level. It doesn’t really matter since over your later town hall levels that take longer, the time will catch up and your heroes will eventually max out before you even know it, and maxed heroes are still powerful with their stats since it’s a big driving force of attacks.

The main and big problem with heroes is the upgrades. During every single upgrade the heroes are down and cannot be used neither in offence nor defence, thus, making your army incredibly weaker. Becuase of this some players, me included, have resorted in the past years to use heroes only once a month during cwl and keep them upgrading during the rest of the month, but, with the last th16 update in which the heroes' abilities were detached from the heroes' levels, it started to feel as though these upgrades lost the little value they provided. The simple solution that has been sitting under supercell's nose for all these years is to simply let heroes stay up during upgrades at least for wars and friendly challenges, in offence in the same way they, alongside buildings you are upgrading aren't down when getting attacked in wars and friendly challenges, maybe adding in a longer resting time when they get knocked down similarly to how the barracks, spell factories and the workshop double the training time when they are upgrading.

As a veteran I still prefer upgrading heroes rather than using those potions every now and then instead of wasting your raid medals on them you can always purchase research potions or pet potions to speed up the process it might not go well with others though.

But if you’re in a good clan you can get all 3, I get 1.55k raid medals so it’s enough for 3 hero potions, 3 research potions and 2 pet potions

I think upgrading hero’s is not an attack thing now as much as a defense thing now. Since hero equipment is used for attacking only having higher level hero helps more in a defensive situation as a lower level hero is dispatched way quicker than a higher level hero. Therefore it does not stall the attack like a higher level hero can. Just my thoughts on it. Thanks for the video Joe !

Honestly you should be able to upgrade heroes and use them at the same time. But them getting back up or getting the heart should take longer.

2 things you have missed 1) every 5 levels the hero get's a boost on how much health it can recover when activating the ability, so even the grand warden for example get's some healing when activating the ability(even if it has the 2 passive abilities combined) 2)if you have a lot of D.E and you're th14 or above, just upgrade pets like the unicorn, frosty, diggy, etc and then the heroes

But upgrading pets means you can’t use them. You might as well upgrade the hero the pet is assigned to so you reduce overall dead time. TH15 and above you can switch pets admittedly so maybe TH14 is worth skipping over as a result

Ahh yess, the +9 health recovery for warden at lvl 55 is definitely worth it. Only for over 10mln elixir. That's definitely worth it

Skills are upgrading seperatly from hero, also with boost you can have max hero level for you th it's not +5 lvl anymore. If you have gems/raid medals your hero level doesn't mean anything. Rushed th's are now efficient

Well, those equipment are new mechanic on CoC. And also, new epic equipment : gauntlet for BK. I think, upping the heroes will still affect as we will never know when those equipment, especially the epic one will balanced. I don't know. Maybe Supercell will decided to buff the level of hero itself So, yeah. Upping the heroes still worthed as those equipment is new mechanic to the game.

seriously it’s so dumb that some of us grinded for months if not years to upgrade heroes and now they added this equipment that not only doesn’t upgrade the ability anymore, but it’s another damn separate upgrade! and the fact that heroes can’t be used to attack in wars/multiplayer while upgrading and you get those ores by _once_ a day bonuses and wars when you can’t even use them is just ridiculous edit: for those who’ll say: that’s what the book of heroes are for- the rest of the troops can be used while they upgrade and has book of fighting so there’s no excuse to not be able to use heroes while they’re upgrading

Right now the meta in clash is to rush base and heroes levels are pointless but they can easily fix the hero level thing just by giving players some ores by upgrading hero levels this can give a motive to upgrade heroes and make it easy to upgrade their abilities also

I will still upgrade them regardless but waiting for them while upgrading is annoying. Maybe they should add for the hero potion for them to be used if they are being upgraded. It makes sense to put it in that potion

I'd be interested to know, does the war defense take into account what equipment is applied and does it only matter when the war day starts? ie, but max dps on as war starts - then switch to preferred options for the actual war.

They should let you choose any two abilities to upgrade at 5th lvl like before or atleast make the default abilities upgradable with hero lvl. Spending 180k dark elixir to get +10dps and hp is absurd. On top of all that, the upgrade times.... 🙂

i completely agree tbh stats feel too small in the long run. but you gotta remember upgrading heroes helps a lot on defense too quen and royal champion, and warden can rlly shred ur opponents troops.

I am a new th15 player with max th13 stats. I upgraded my barbarian to 71, queen to 80, warden to 60 and rc to 15 before the th16 upgrade. After the update, I find it more useful to use the dark elixer to keep the pets upgrading continuously and use the book of heroes from the pass or clan games to upgrade the heroes from time to time. The hero levels don't affect much now as I generally use the hero potion for clan wars or the CWL.

My opinion is that heroes should be upgradable in the blacksmith itself, and you should be able to upgrade one at a time, without a builder. This will allow heroes to be upgraded exactly like troops in the laboratory, and that will at least let us have heroes available throughout, and we can go to war regular then!

what do you mean upgrading heroes "can" feel endless, it literally IS endless for me, i upgraded all my heroes to max on TH11, moved to TH12, now i am upgrading them and i am almost done, when the heroes are done so are most of my buildings and i go to TH13, which means i still never get to use them since they are again all upgrading, and once they are done upgrading AGAIN its time for TH14 and repeat.

Well yes 1 hero should be always in upgrade mode to keep up .. That's why alot of players struggle in cwl especially annoying when my archer queen is in upgrade

Now it is worth mentioning that every 5 levels you do get more regeneration for the king, Queen, etc i think it is like just do one at a time and it will work itself out

I feel like they are still worth upgrading I definitely notice differences between a level 30 queen and a level 50 one, and it’s not like it’s really a choice between equipment and hero levels, as they can be upgraded simultaneously due to using different resources, I get the frustration with needing to upgrade them and needing ores from war to get the equipment upgraded though.

You can only make a real comparison by having the lvl 20 heroes attack the maxed heroes base. Heroes are important for defence. On top of that it will mean you have the raid medals free for other stuff

A cool way to upgrade your hero’s would be to use them in more attacks and keep them alive or something to gain like “ experience “ and get stronger

Upgrade your heroes. Maybe not all at once so you can do war, but they still provide offensive and defensive value. Yeah they get less thats, but they still gain stats. You wont have enough pots for every war anyway. Yeah they cant be used in war, so what? Theres plenty of ways to speed up time, and after th13, hero levels arent nearly as much of a grind. Edit: they still get a buff every 5 levels in the "health recovered" stat, its how much a hero heals when using an ability, no matter the ability.

I expect them to fix this soon with a logrithmic increase from the equipment rather than a static one to further incentivise the player for increasing the level by allowing the level to actually matter relative to the equipment.

They should be same price but instant, there is now a time lock with ore, and they should be expensive because there is a difference and they have a much more noticeable difference on defense aswell.

I also find that I am always waiting on and farming Dark elixir whenever I am about to upgrade my town hall because maxing out the Heroes and the Dark Lab Troops takes so damn long compared to other upgrades

I generally use hammers for the warden upgrades and 2 or 3 books a month on the others. Rarely ever have heros down, and generally have them maxed long b4 my defense and troops r maxed.

Considering that leveling heroes and leveling their equipment use different resources, you can't really "focus on equipment," you can only level equipment as those resources are available to you. Also, since the king and queen cost dark elixir to upgrade, and aside from the dark troops, that's about all you can spend your dark elixir on, there's no reason not to upgrade them, unless you're at war. As a (mostly) FtP player, in a clan that wars constantly, I only upgrade my heroes when my dark elixir storage is nearly full, and I don't have my drills maxed. Despite this, I'm still upgrading them a lot, and my dark storage is almost always full. I activate super dragon and super wizard every three days to use in war defense, and also because I have dark elixir to spare! It's crazy how a resource that was highly sought after, hard to get, and protected more securely than TH when I started playing, is now so meaningless that I'm just throwing it away every three days to make super troops that I don't even use, and I struggle to spend it all.

Please make a video or suggest us wht is the sweet spot you think as of now for the heroes is for each town hall and wht should be the priority to upgrade which equipment and how much level or just max out in detail or tell us... Both will do a great job.. as I'm a rusher I've a queen of lvl 53 warden lvl 14 royal lvl 10 king lvl 30 so in th14 in 6 days th15 so pls suggest me at least wht lvl should be my heroes if it was you without maxing it out.. i have that dark exlir for at least 3-5 heros upgrade as of now and for the warden too loot is not the issue for me just pls tell me.. pls let us know us or make video on this topic too pls..

I could recomend to add option to level heroes on +5 levels per upgrade cycle with the price increased of course this will allow to decrease time they require on upgrades

Another thing is now u get the ores only from star bonous nd war so now missing out a war has actually more downside. We really need some changes for heros now. I really think supercell should significantly lessen the hero upgrading time which should be below 2 days or if they entirely take out the upgrade timing it is even better.

I think they should condense the hero levels down and increase the cost and upgrade time per level on the heroes. So for instance going from a level 1 hero to a level 2 hero would be the same as going from level 1 to level 5 now in terms of the hp and dps improvements. However, bump up the upgrade timers a decent chunk (maybe +30-50% on the timers) and increase the cost a little bit to incentivize BoH and Runes for upgrades. Needing to keep builders busy for 40+ hero levels per TH really drags the game down and hurts player retention for those players who want to max out, but the economy also needs to be rebalanced to better integrate the fact that hero levels are the absolute worst value for time proposition currently in the game. Hero equipment and the rewards system surrounding it was a fantastic idea for breathing life into clan wars and keeping player retention on the game, but if the hero levels themselves aren't addressed then you're still going to have large numbers of players sitting around doing nothing for months on end trying to max out their heroes and not participating in playing the game.

my take on it is that when they released the new selectable abilities based on what level your hero’s we’re should have been the level they start at when you also unlock them too. i don’t understand why the original abilities were gave levels to start at but the new ones aren’t.. also like many have said just make the hero’s playable while upgrading. simple fix i hop the devs listen to us and get this fixed soon

Iv literally been pushing my king and queen for months now because when i stopped playing the were lvl 35 they are now lvl being upgrade to lvl 57 and im at th13. I still keep my warden and royal champion up and I was still able to get three stars during wars. And my warden and champion are at lvl 18 and 9 before this current update.

One thing I noticed that just doesn’t make sense is when there is a builder gem boost event it doesn’t boost the hero upgrade time and that makes 0 sense when their upgrade requires a builder.

You know if king is under eternal tome early with warden later he has it with his ability. Might be a bug but dramatically changes everything if you don’t use it.

A solution could be that they can always be used when upgrading and instead put a timer on the equipment that becomes unusable for the time it upgrades instead, still allowing you to use other equipment for the time beeing.

Probably the best way to upgrade heroes currently at th13, would be to have 2/4 being upgraded. Attacks dont suffer too much, while still allowing meaningful progress

Hero upgrades will always be important irrespective of the introduction of th16 or th20 (in future). Supercell will ensure it’ll be like that hence the huge amount of resources and time required for each hero lvl. If you r a rushed player and like to play the game that way, it’s upto you and you def can do that now as hero pots are buffed and it gives you the hero lvls of the respective th (earlier it used to +5 lvls only) and hence you can use the pots during cwl to get the triple even if you r a rushed th16 (:

as f2p th13 mostly i uses qc hybrid or s.archer blimp lalo. heroes level is most important for my kind of attacks style. all my heroes are max out except king just lv 72

I’m at town hall 15 using the same army as a town hall 16 without the new pet that army I have been using is very strong and the UKpostsr is code Moose. My heroes are almost maxed and my builders are working hard, legends league is cool and a good way to farm resources. It is long farming resources placing upgrades and wall upgrades. I say upgrade walls with rings and the resource you don’t need at the moment and grind them as soon as you see a hammer jam start. Set your goal! And good luck out there.

Ik ik... I really need hero HP and Dps.. cuz i can deal more damage and tank a little. If upgrade ability, its feel like so hard to get ore. Since my loot elixir and dark elixir easily get rich cuz of the clan war and the star bonus at multiplayer.

Typically I will upgrade heros from the start of a townhall, at th13 it takes a long time to upgrade everything else so being a couple builders down still gives me 4 to work with on buildings. However I can still progress my heros at a steady pace, while annoying for normal attacks

Honestly, those ore are still extremely hard to gain for me as i often drop my rank for loots. Therefore while my heroes are being upgraded for few days, i can use that time to gain abundance of loots at. Like i only need to do roughly 4 to 5 raids to almost max out my storage😅

Honestly they should just make the blacksmith abilities correlate with your hero levels like every 5 level upgrade on the archer queen e.g. gives +1 level for the giant arrow for example

how about the excess dark elixir? I found it way easier to farm DE rn even for a 1 hero upgrade each to max (back then it was real struggle). but neglecting the hero upgrade for me is just that if u trying to use all the heroes every time. the only thing needed was an update than can provide using heroes while upgrading, it would solve the problem since it was the bigger issue rather than time and resources (DE). but idk if my point applies to people who are too lazy to upgrade heroes bc I always try to max out heroes on every TH levels since it almost took the same time as upgrading buildings (everything including walls, traps) and labs if u good at managing upgrades, active and maxed out everything before upgrade to next TH. the gaps is only like few weeks between first one (ex: buildings) maxed to the other one (heroes/labs).

the thing with ores is just that, its a cash grab atp xd except supercell want to make it easier to farms. and maxing out every equipment needed for each heroes took so much time.
