I'd have to agree. It wasn't just his athleticism either. Moss had this amazing ability to look at the ball just briefly in flight and run exactly to the spot the ball was going to drop. He almost never guessed wrong either. I'll never put Moss over Rice as an overall receiver, but as a deep threat Moss is still unmatched.

He played for a very long time because he was so well conditioned. He was never the most physically talented player, as soon as owens got to San Fran it became more obvious. Is compiled stats the only measuring stick for the position? That is like saying tony Gonzalez is better than gronk because he has more stats. I just don't believe that to be the only determining factor. I have been lucky enough to watch both play, moss was different. He changed the way defenses played. Comparing Moss's playoff stats to Rice's is like comparing horse manure to filet mignon.

Moss had very good speed. But it wasn't Unbelievable. There are plenty of players who were faster.
