I never write comments on youtube. But this documentary touched me in a very special way. When I was 18 I went to India. Somewhere in Rajasthan we stopped for one night in a small town in the desert I don't remember where, perhaps near Udaipur. It was late afternoon and I decided to go for a walk by myself. After some time 2 children started dragging me by my hand into a dusty abandoned area on the side of a busy highway. It was one of these camps just like in the video. I was a little uneasy because I thought I might be being lead to be mugged. But there was something so enchanting about the people I couldn't help but find out what was going to happen. They were the most amazing beautiful people I had ever seen, all in such colourful outfits. Finally they sat me on a wooden bed and told me to wait. A very old man in a huge turban came and did a puppet show for me with dozens of people surrounding me. It was very surreal and only to this day watching this video did i get the same sensation I had that day. Thank you for making such a truly amazing documentary.

I wholeheartedly agree!!! I have never seen a people so beautiful and happy!! Even the tribe that doesn’t bathe for religious reasons! Sure, their hair was dusty and bit matted but they still shined with a beautiful enthusiasm for life!! I am sure they have suffered tragedies in their lives just like everyone else but they don’t let that stop them from living!! Everything they do seems to be some sort of celebration of life, even their clothing! They are simply a stunning people and an excellent example that you don’t need a giant pile of money to live a rich, colorful, interesting and happy life!! Cheers

Anyone who ever wants to make a documentary should be mandated to watch this one, and build off what they've learned from it. I've never been to India, but through the lenses of your camera, I've vicariously danced with gypsy nomads, made charcoal and sold it to a wholesaler, rocked babies to sleep in a scarf suspended by two sticks, and raced camels in a desert wasteland. In comparison, these nomadic folks who don't even have 2 nickels to rub together are far richer than I will ever be.

Thank you for showing me what my distant ancestors must have been like hundreds of years ago before they traveled through so many countries. @helenalford2831
@helenalford2831 5 років тому
Your points are irrelevant, especially because immigration has nothing to do with this. All humans deserve safety, decent living conditions and the right to practice their culture and be with their family - that's a basic agreement that civilised people have come to. Roma people are not separate from this. Quite honestly when people use the term 'integrated' for people who have abandoned their community and culture it sounds a lot like fascism.
@helenalford2831
@helenalford2831 5 років тому
I live in a neighbourhood in the UK where about 70% of the population are Muslims and the other 30% are Slovak Roma. Not saying everyone always gets on perfectly, but for the most part it works. We had a street party last week with games for the kids, I know nearly everyone in my street. My little stepson plays out every day and we don't worry about him. I know that people are just people, we have different cultures but most people in the end just want to be happy and have a peaceful life with their family. That understanding and being able to live in peace with other people as a result, brings happiness. What you are saying is all about fear of what you don't know. I don't live in a 'mono-cultural hellhole', whereas you probably do.
@helenalford2831
@helenalford2831 5 років тому
You're making a lot of assumptions here Fillip and misrepresenting what I said. I feel that I shouldn't be having this discussion because immigration has nothing to do with the video and I don't as a rule respond to this 'white power' drivel. However, your comments really made me think. I don't know what your history is like but this made me think of the way the Aboriginal peoples of Australia must have felt during the program by the white settlers to 'breed the blackness out of them'; a program which involved removal of children and the almost total destruction of an ancient race of people. That program only ended in the 1950s or 60s. However, that was a form of genocide which really happened. In fact when you look at history and the world today white Europeans control the majority of the world's resources and the power - we are the aggressors on the global stage not the victims. We aren't likely to see the 'breeding out' of the white race, but if it happens it will be because people fall in love and nature takes its course over the generations. It will be because of people coming together, not because of hate. Perhaps if we all end up one colour, although that would be sad as diversity is a great thing, it might stop people killing and hating each other so much? Peace.

Fantastic movie, I loved it and some parts actually made me cry. We here in the US have so much of everything right at out fingertips that the very thought of hardship or survival is unknown and seldom experienced. So much food, so much water and such thick forests yet human beings here in America still seem to resort to crime, to greed and to corruption. A simple lifestyle like this creates such beautiful people with so much happiness in their hearts and souls yet living with so little. With all due respect the term less is more is so very true and this movie hits that point home. Thank you for filming this and sharing it on You Tube. Martin Sleep

@ Sunil Beniwal by due respect , I am an Indian too and your name suggest that you belong to Baniya or Jats society. and in this documentary they are showing Kalbeliya nomads, those who lives in wildness and moves around Wildness. you could have live around them in your vicinity. But you cannot claim to be one of them. as to my knowledge Beniwals are not nomads, I am trying to clear the facts. just being an indian, you cannot claim to be one of them.
@junaidashraf9085
@junaidashraf9085 4 роки тому
@Redwoodrebelgirl Hallo, I understand that you think I am trying to underline Sunil (Male Name) statement. u are right he did not mentioned he is one of them, but he is trying to be a part of the narrative in the Documentary. That is the Fact which I do not agree with him, since in reallity, Kalbeliay Nomads are poorest section of the society and as in the Documentary in beginn showned, that caste System has been abolished in india, but in truth Rajasthan is one of those state in India, where Caste Base Crime are at highest, they rank each year among the top 3 out of 29 states in india. And let alone living in that region, does not give him insight of the life of this peoples. so one cannot claim or compare to have live the same experience as they do(For Example: One cannot compare His Life experince living as White Person in USA with the one of Afro-Americans living in 60s in USA, just because that white person was living in the same cityor vicinity). and apart from that, if he belongs to those community like Jats, as his surname suggest, then these people practice Crime in thousands every year against low society Kalbeliya or Dalits. and this are Facts!!!! Just because this documentary is a good one showing Kalbeliya Lifestyle, no one who do attrocities to them should walk away saying to have known them or their Lifstyle when in reality this people make their day today life horrible. I can go on listing the problems they face in the society their, but it will not end. I am explaining this to you since I belong to a minority community in my country(india) and experience personally what it means. My Grandfather use to have a big property alongside our family graveyard, open Land outside city boundary and each year such Nomads use to travel and camp on his Land for free for few months and move on. but still I wont claim that I know them as this Documentary trying to show us. In reality if People in india belong to upper or higher class then these Nomads, then they ignore them as if they do not exist........ this is the truth.

I can see how the karma sutra came into existence 😏. One of those beautiful women dancing in front of you would be intoxicating . I am american , they remind me of the American version of hippies . But without all the stupid annoying political views that alot of these american hippies have . The gypsy life seems to look to me one of you live you love you dance you enjoy you die . First let me say, fantastic choices for music all the way around. Secondly, I never thought I would watch this and feel such a sense of longing for something I have never been further from. Everyone there expresses themselves without any fear of what others think and that is amazing. You'd never see people dance so much out in public, not to mention guys in groups like that. The earrings are amazing and pretty much everyone is pierced, with the mandalas. Gorgeous work all the way around, well done.

@@ruperslayz actually aryans are the locals of north most part of india, even im aryan like many of indians. Aryan is also a very common indian name. The aryan that Hitler claimed is not aryan at all actually, including the swastika, which is also taken from Hinduism, and its a holy symbol here only a little different from na*i swastik. Orignal Aryans are actually tall , brown, and have han asian features, they have their community in leh, that is near Himalayas. India's one of the race is indo aryan, that is majority of north indians.

Wonderful video! Their weddings surprised me. We have a huge Roma community here in Turkiye and a wedding means Roma musicians here. I wasn't aware they have taught us most of their wedding traditions, not only created the traditional tunes of our ceremonies. They appear to be mostly similar, clearly from the same roots. I admire their strong hold to their traditions all over the world. Without the Roma, the humanity would be a party with no music and lights. Love them all!
