8 років томуLive stream from / adafruit diving into Bluetooth Low Energy on the new Raspberry Pi 3. Demonstrates interacting with a BLE UART device from the noble node.js BLE library.
Note there's a small hiccup in the stream around the 7:30 minute mark--everything resumes to normal after a few seconds.

Really nice job, especially for a live tutorial. Is it possible to connect 2 Feather Bluefruits together? Or are they not able to act as a host and you need either a laptop or Pi?

Thanks so much for very informative and useful videos. Just have a question, do you know how to change/modify/control connection parameters using Noble? I have looked over the Usage page, and it seems no API or method related to connection parameters.

@Tony D, you should definitely check out 6lowpan and Contiki OS. 6lowpan is a network that uses the same physical and MAC layer as BLE (802.15.4) but lets all devices have IPv6 addresses and routing capabilities. BLE only lets you have a central device connected to multiple peripherals which is very limiting for large sensor networks. With 6lowpan, mesh routing is employed to increase range and spread the routing load over multiple devices. The greatest thing about 6lowpan in my opinion is that you can build the same web services over it like an http web server, DNS or COAP. A border router bridges the 6lowpan network with the Internet or a classic Wifi network and one can access the previous web services.

***** I had a course at school around 6lowpan, wireless sensor networks and Contiki. So that's were I learned most of it. But I think it would be feasible to self-teach oneself with material found online and with the Contiki OS examples. The boards we used were based on the ATmega128rfa1 which is being replaced by the SAMR21. Contiki also worked fine on the TI Sensortag and CC2650 Launchpad. Check out the hardware section of the website for all supported platforms.

Hey Tony D! I love checking out your projects. I wanted to give a BLE project suggestion. An anti-slouch device that promotes good posture. It could be a wearable microcontroller with an accelerometer. Clip it to your shirt and, sit up straight, press a button to set a resting position. Then if the user begins to slouch, a vibrate message could be sent to the user's phone over BLE. Or a large message could take over your computer screen. Adafruit.io could be integrated to track posture throughout the day. I think it would be a fun, useful, low cost project.

why not just use the LAN connection on the Raspberry Pi and SSH into the Raspberry PI, I sometimes have to SSH into my cable router.

You can...the command "beacon transmit -I" turns the device into an ibeacon

This is the second adafruit video that does not get to the point , but plays around . People are busy and don't need all the unnecessary showing off . I just shut it down and shall look for some other video .
