Al Pacino Nah Lars wanted it removed because it clashed with his drum sound. James's guitars occupied the low end and mid ranges. There was nowhere left for the bass to go so they essentially turned it down until it was barely audible to prevent it from making the recording all muddy and inaudibly distorted. They could have compromised because there's amateur remixes out there that fixed it, but they choose not to. His bass is what dominated the entire black album.... the one that broke them into the mainstream yeah?

Very true, those are all master pieces, but truth be told, it was the black album that put them in the RHOF. Because it was the best selling album they had, hell don't get me wrong! I'll listen to the first 4 albums all day every day, but still they didn't give them international fame like the black album. MOP was/is the greatest thrash metal album ever, but they weren't mainstream yet, the black album was really the first mainstream album they had. 2 years straight of touring the world!?
