RTX 5090 is Insane - Nvidia Blackwell Specs & Release date
So we just got a ton of new info on Nvidia’s upcoming GPUs both in the form of leaks, as well as some official information from Nvidia themselves, and guys, it’s looking really good.
Now the first bit of information comes from a Wired interview which of course I'll have linked in the description, where Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang surprisingly dropped some exciting info on their next generation GPUs when asked about lead times for some of their products.

You can already run cyberpunk 2077 at 60fps with ray tracing if you have an nVidia card.

I am wondering how they got to 2x Ray Tracing. As you can count optimizations to the game in one but not the other, change from FP16 to BFP16 which is a driver layer thingy which should effect both but unsure if the 4090 supports the variable type BFP16 thus goes to FP16 or FP32. Another way would be for them to support a newer version of their DLSS on the 5090 but not the 4090 and have whatever they changed make it generate frames quicker. The most ideal way would be the extra transistors and the next gen RT cores are objectively better than the generation of RT cores on the 4090 which is below the generation on the 4070ti super.

The 4090 is around 2x faster than the 3090 in most ray traced games, and that's without upscaling and frame gen. An example of this is Cyberpunk at native 4K max settings with psycho RT. The 4090 averages around 40 FPS, while the 3090 gets roughly 20 FPS. Control, Dying Light 2, F1, Portal with RTX, and Alan Wake 2 are some other games where the 4090 practically doubles the performance of the 3090 in RT. A 2x performance increase from one generation to the next isn't impossible, as some people act as though it is. It's actually fairly conservative for ray traced games, at least.

@@jeevan1198 Yep, and the 5090 will likely do 80+ fps in Cyberpunk at native 4K max settings with psycho RT. Turn on DLSS and frame gen, and you're talking near 200 fps. Really makes 4k 240hz monitors viable for even the heaviest of games.

@@xblur17 If Nvidia goes with the bleeding edge route for the RTX 50 Series, such as using a custom TSMC 3N node, GDDR7, ramping up the clock speeds, increasing IPC by a large margin, and other big enhancements to the overhaul of the architecture, then there might finally be a GPU powerful enough to run games at a much higher ray count to unlock the full potential of RT graphics and make it finally worth using. I have said it a few times now that if they choose to further increase RT performance on top of that, they can dedicate more die space for the RT Cores. All of that will massively increase the RT performance, and the 5090 should be well over 2x faster than the 4090 in ray traced games if that's the case.

They always say 2x performance and it always ends up being about 30% faster than the previous x090. The 5070 will be equivalent to the 4080, 5060 the 4070, etc. but with new bells and whistles.

The price is high, but not insane. In 2013, Nvidia released the Titan for $999. That is the equivalent of almost $1400 today. The 4090/5090 are those Titan-class cards. If you want the 80 class cards, they are much more reasonable at around $999-$1199 which (adjusted for inflation) is nearly equivalent to the $700-750 cards from 2013-2014.

@@evaone4286 The numbers I gave you are adjusted for inflation. It's crazy to think that $1000 in 2013 is around $1350 today. The actual price increase for most of these products is around $75-250, depending on the class of the product. That is still an increase, but for some reason people always compare and say "back in my day you could buy the top card for $700, what happened?" and they're talking about 2006-7. $700 then is equal to $1100 now.

Because 4090 is only 1440p RT high framerate card. I change it 5090 and update my monitor to 4k time. 100fps in 4k is not enough. Fun starting after 144fps.

As someone who owns a 4090 and a 4k, 75 inch TV (I only mention the size because some people buy 4k monitors, which is a waste because at monitor sizes you can barely tell it's 4k) I can tell you that it's not enough. Some games just tank down to 20fps with everything on max settings. You might think "You don't need max settings, just lower this and that and it'll work fine.". I didn't spend 10 grand on my PC (AUD) just so I could compromise on settings. For anything less than 4k then you are correct, you don't need more than a 4090. But let's say the 4090 could run every game out today at 4k, max settings, 120+fps at all times. Great, this means it's only just good enough for right now. A brand new AAA game that comes out next week though? Now we dip bellow 120. A game that comes out at the end of 2024? Sub 90fps. Down and down we go. There is NEVER such a thing as too much power. The bigger the GPUs, the more game devs push the limit. Actually I'll change my "never" statement to "When video games look like real life, and I don't mean really good, I mean Star Trek Next Generation holodeck, so a 1:1 copy of the real world, and the GPUs of that time can run anything you throw at it then yes, we have now peaked. 2424 will be a good year for GPUs and no that wasn't a typo.

Depends on how you wanna run games, You would be surprised actually, I have a 4k 240hz monitor with 4090 and 13900k and on cyberpunk with high settings with dlss quality and fg on without Ray tracing I'm getting about 130-150 fps. Kinda ridiculous actually for so much money spent. I mean I can do low settings with dlss performance and hit the 240fps but the game looks like shit at that point. My point being if you wanna run 4k high refresh rate games then a flagship gpu would be necessary but if not then yes a 3080 would be plenty of power

@@catsooey yep, thought i'd give Nvidia another try a couple years ago. I'd been on AMD since the time I went through three NVidia cards and best one I got in that one month would make right up until i tried anything more demanding than dos or left it running more than 10 minutes, the two previous cards I tried one was doa and the other would hard lock the system as soon as the bios splash screen showed. All this back near the end of windows being an add on to dos. Mostly though there were a few programs I wanted to run that were cuda dependent.

I went with a 7800x3d, gigabyte Aorus Elite b650 ax, 2TB Samsung 980 pro m.2 SSD, 32 GB GSkill Trident RAM @ 6000, Be Quiet 500fx case and cpu cooler, and Corsair RMX 750 psu.. I was under a pretty tight budget so I figured I’d get better base components (cpu, ram, etc) and upgrade to a better gpu later on. I’m a flight sim pilot (DCS World) and I built my pc for that primarily. I was thinking about getting a 4090, but with the 5000 seres coming out I figured I’ll wait and get a 5090. Founders Edition. That is, if I can manage to get my hands on one! Lol

It's disappointing that some people still can't get past the way prices have been since 2017. Yeah 5070 could be close to/around 4080. But for releasing this year, well, that's going to vary. I hope they do it more like the RTX 3000 launch and not like the RTX 4000 launch when it comes to 90, 80 and 70 series gpus.

I'm currently with an RX 7900 XTX Red Devil Limited + Ryzen 7950X3D + GIGABYTE X670E AORUS MASTER + 128GB RAM. I'm a sucker for upgrades when i save up some cash. And am thinking of saving up for potentially X870E + Ryzen 9950X3D if that's what they'll be called. After that maybe for an RTX 5090. Who knows lol 😆

Can we please hype up 2.6x RT performance some more... please please!... I haven't heard enough of it yet!... And 1.6x raster?... Damn I really do hope so, but I''ll believe it when I see it; I really want the Pimax 12k (or any direct competitor thereof) when it releases in 2020never, but I'm well aware that it'll need a GodlikePU to drive it!.. I love VR, but am happy to stick with my Quest2 until we get significantly closer to eye resolution with very high field of view.

There is already very decent ray tracing in real time with the 4080. 60 FPS in any game with DLSS assistance at 4K. Sure, if you want native 4K the 50 series may be the first to deliver it in non 90 cards, but DLSS is perfectly acceptable for most people and is here to stay with moores law having been broken but with companies guaranteed to continue to keep pushing graphical limits.

I know they never will but they should make a rtx 0020 or 0010 that is half the size of the cards but also half the price I'm sure that would kick off people build mini pc for their TV or budget gamers and kids to start building

Well in Ai blackwell GPU its 30x faster to its predecessor hopper and even 25x less energy consumed based on the article that I read, so I think the 50series gpu might just go beyond our expectations lol
