I felt for Russell in this exchange, and it showed the lack of insight or depth to some people in the face of tangible evidence. Also his demeaning nature towards Russell in his search of something greater than drugs and pu**y. What a waste of an opportunity to have that level of depth in front of you and just laugh back with no substance. It was similar to an overgrown adolescent with no maturity who only response is so what. Noit to.mention the structure of the interview is he basically gets wasted and incoherent for the second half. This man showed how out of touch, privileged and nieve he is. Its not even like he makes an attempt to disect or understand. He comes across so ignorant it almost appears to be a character or satire which is the greatest insult and condemnation of his stupidity.

Good point about Bill's "shtick." It doesn't hold up against the depth of thought in Russell's conversation. I was thinking of the axioms "In wine, truth" and "Out of the depths of the heart does the mouth speak." Bill shows himself to be shallow and self-centered. Not a good look.

Up until the point where he goes full-on Putin apologist. Which doesn't surprise me. He does that quite a bit whenever I've had the misfortune to encounter his own UKposts nonsense. But I guess people like you don't care about the fact that he seems to be ok with a murderous thug who decided to invade a neighbouring sovereign country unprovoked. Russell strikes me as a deep soul who lost himself in hedonism, but changed so that his true voice could be heard.

When you've seen what hedonism does, by practicing a hedonistic lifestyle yourself, and how it is portrayed/marketed in culture you might become an outspoken critic of the culture.

Bill is so literal, British slang & nomenclature goes right over his head. I struggled to get through this one. Russell is so articulate and patient - it’s like coming up for air when he speaks after being drowned in Bill’s drunken combative commentary. Russell being sober & having notes came for a true convo and Bill just wanted to drink and hang. I’m exhausted…

Yeah I don’t understand how am intelligent person who talks for a living can get so caught up on certain words. A thing can be interesting or cause a thought and you can put a pin in it and come back later. He doesn’t seem capable of that

Lenny Bruce said it well - "There is nothing sadder than an aging hipster." Bill doesn't realize it but he's fallen behind - he no longer has his edge. Life in a celebrity bubble and habitual consumption of corporate news (propaganda) has left him equal parts cynical and naive (not to mention emotionally arrested). The antidote to this was sitting right next to him, but he didn't realize it.

so perfectly described. He could've got his start to a true spiritual awakening with Russell, but he's always busy proactively defending his own insecurities so hard, that he can't doesn't even hear things beyond his own self indulgent voice.

Guys and gals Don’t make more of this that it is- These guys are friends - and yes Bill for once looked out of his element- but it is because Russel has gone thru a process that brings him to another level of existence- he has a code of love and tolerance and knows how to pause when agitated. He is responding to what Bill is saying. He is actually listening to him and processing it- not just thinking of what he is going to say next. How could anyone “beat” someone in a debate that is taking the “high road” ? You cannot. All Russel is doing is saying his opinion in a strong , clear and confident way. He backs his views up with sources and experience. He never attacks Bill- but does not roll over- I’m truly grateful I was watching this today

Hi Bill, I love your shows. I have something to say about the big bang. My uncle teaches astrophysics at the university of toronto and he explained to me that the popular idea of the big bang is not accurate. The universe was never condensed into one point. At the time of the big bang, the universe was the same size as it is today - infinite - and the infinite universe was filled with dense matter. At the moment of the big bang, the dense matter began to expand everywhere!
