yeah who ever thinks $500 bucks is budget is living on another planet of income from me. LOL my whole ass 50" samsung 4k smart tv , cost me $450 back in 2018 a comparible model today is about $580 something it sure as shit wasn't a budget tv. and 500 dollars anything isn't a budget item.

DLSS is still better than FSR and FG still got the advantage on FM. For me the 4080 and the 7900XTX were priced the same, I play at 1440p so over 16GB is enough until the core is slow compared to the day's standards.

In order to do that, they need a higher market share. Even if they were 1 to 1 on performance, they would need to undercut competition to be competitive and viable in the market. Nvidia rules the market by a LONG SHOT currently. They are not directly competing for performance, no one is. They are competing for market share. Performance of the product is just a variable to increase market share. Tech companies regularly neuter their products so they can save some performance if they need to answer to a new product quickly from a rival company. If your statement was true, they would put all the performance on the table with each release. THAT is why all top tier products are around the same performance. AMD doesn't compete in top tier because most people don't buy top tier. You can look at steam surveys and the like and see what people are gaming with. It's not all 4090's or even 4080's. The past 5 months it has been the 3060 in first place. Performance has less to do with competition than you think it does. Nvidia makes them for clout, essentially.

RDNA4 is not for us, I want to upgrade when I can double the performance at a similar price. I got my 3060ti for $275 incl taxes abd shipping. Double the performance of 3060ti is exactly a 7900xt. I dont see 7900 xt going for ~$300 in Rdna4 lineup. Maybe they will have a card at $450-$500. But thats almost 2x my budget lol Waiting for rdna5

AMD and Nvidia both really decided to play the "It costs 30% more and gives you 30% more performance!" game this generation (7000/4000 series) and it feels like tech reviewers in many ways are playing a little bit of revisionist history saying that stuff like this or the 4080super are now good prices. Shame people actually have been buying the cards as it's really just been giving them the ammo to say "No, see, they really are worth the expense!" Given these cards MIGHT launch this year after Nvidia drops what will probably be a $2000 5090, AMD cards being priced correctly at Q4 2024 or Q1 2025 isn't that exciting. Also I keep stumbling across this channel championing Battlemage when it feels like we have zero actual information and it just feels ripe for 7900XTX levels of disappointment.

Well if we are to be specific, in terms of render config its identical to the RX 6800 of which the 7800xt slightly beats the RX 6800xt in 1440p, and slightly loses in 4k.

Same, 6750 XT 1440p user here. I've had 3 or 4 other cards since that just didn't do enough more, had warped circuit boards, or had crash issues, so they went back. My 6750 XT is still solid. I can always just play at "High" settings instead of "Ultra" if I want faster FPS.

Agreed. It would have to be a radical redesign of RDNA for this to be true. We're likely looking at a 15% increase for the 8700 XT from the 7800 XT, and at most a 10% increase for the 8800 XT over the 7900 XT. There simply are not enough CU's for this leak to be true.

its not impossible to happen, nvidia for example released the 4070ti for 800$ at launch and this card has similar perfomance to the 3090ti which costed 2000$ at launch so i can definitely see it happening, but i dont believe that they will manage to make them more power efficient if theres a 8800xt i think it will be in the range of 270-310 TDP.

Fewer compute units in the 8800 can only outperform the 7900 if they dramatically increase compute unit performance and efficiency. That calls for a redesign not a refresh. By all accounts I suspect the RDNA 4 based 8000 series will only be a refresh of the RDNA 3 7000 series. I expect a 10% uplift in performance at best.

With a 10% increase and a huge price drop it sounds like they want an RX 580 replacement for the roaring 20's

@@Kahyos They most certainly didn't hold back...that was when Nvidia was afraid MCM would destroy monolithic die performance so they put everything they could into the 4090... don't be surprised if the 5090 is just marginally better..3nm doesn't offer more performance gains than 4nm.. only efficiency. Nvidia was struggling like hell and ultimately failed at releasing a 600w GPU because it kept melting and yields were abysmal. That's why we never saw a 4090ti or Super. The move to 3nm will give them some headroom but not much. GPUs are going to become obsolete unless they go MCM...even Nvidia acknowledged this but they're essentially starting from scratch. AMD is just releasing an optimized 7000 series with the 8000. They're still ironing MCM out but they're also the only ones who have a sustainable architecture moving forward right now.

They have a really low market share as it is and Intel Battlemage is coming out. Intel has nothing to lose and is going all in with low prices. AMD is probably scared they are going to lose even MORE of their market share to a whole new competitor. Nvidia is going to be fine, AMD is going to feel the hurt if Battlemage is good.

Yeah, more often than not, AMD cards of the same price bracket are 25-30% slower than NVIDIA counterparts. They can do it but at a significant compromise.

It will be close. If theres a 15% diff even, I will purchase one for a second rig. I already have a 4090/1900k/96gb5600 combo. However my very expensive oled tv doesn't play well with 1.4 dp or 2.1a hdmi, or nvidia in general. I dont need the secondary for work, it would be specifically for entertainment. So this is great for me combined with fsr3, it should do fine with harder to run titles as I dont need blockbuster single player games to run higher than 120 (bfi being awesome) even tho i can push mine to 144fps. Multi-player, ill stick with my 4090 and new 32in 4k 240hz oled, and 27in 360hz qhd oled. Since I game in darkness, while it does look 20% better in hdr as opposed to my 4k mini led innocn due to 10bit ...in regular lighting situations I dont see a huge difference. What to do with my led 2k 39inch curved wide screen monitor with hdr 400... Ill prob give it to my kid for a secondary screen. My wife has a 6k...6k costing monitor for her work...the things colours are incredible... besides the point...sorry... Tldr: this would be a perfect card for a secondary computer just for the entertainment room on my oled tv solely because of single player, movies, consoles due to dp 2.1 and better hdmi 2.1a support. At that price, easy decision. If its for anything else but entertainment, i wouldnt recommend it, Id recommend a 4090 or at that point wait for 5000 rtx series. Even a 4080 will do just fine. I was going to build a low profile rtx4060ti build...but i will now wait because I want to pc game graphically demanding titles in my entertainment family room.

@@nicholasgilbert4227 if you were a GPU manufacturer and you had a part that could compete with a 1000 $ GPU even if your brand had a rep for making inferior parts (justified or not) you wouldn't sell it at half price, you'd sell it at 75%. Because it's still low enough to turn heads and attract attention but preserve a decent profit margin.

Not really the 8800XT is a 700 class GPU, just like the 7800XT is a 600 class GPU. Also the gtx 1000 series were the most overpriced GPUs in history at MSRP. The gtx 1080 a 312mm^2 die sub-mid-range GPU sold for 600-700$ instead of 350$...
