I actually own a 2010 Acura TL: 3.7 liter V6 with 6 speed manual transmission and all wheel drive.... They don't make this kind of car anymore.

This just shows how well Honda was doing even 10 years ago, the J series V6 was always superb sounding and performing!

I wish they would've kept the old TL body style, but slightly updated it. I always liked the look of those TLs.

This was another impressive video...shout out to everyone who made it work especially being able to get those cars stock (without tuning) to verify the difference. As always thank you.

Been waiting for this for a long time lol! Great video! It does seem like in the last race, the 2021 TL Owner lifted early. A well driven TL 6MT SH-AWD should be running high 13's in the 1/4 mile and would be capable of beating the other two. The new TLX 2.0T kept up better than I thought. That 10AT and its shorting gearing may be the key to its launch.

I owned three 4th generation TLs and one 1st generation TLX V6. Will very likely own a 2nd generation TLX by next summer, maybe in Type S trim. Can't wait to watch this video.

At 0:35 just blows my mind how throughout the years the car became heavier with a smaller engine- less horsepower but with more gears in the transmission. I just wish the engines remained 3.7l v6 with more horsepower either turbo or supercharged. Is it just me or anyone agree?

You do good work. I appreciate your videos. I've come across them several times now and you show me exactly what I am looking for. Currently looking for a new DD and love the Aspec Acuras. Cannot decide if I want to save a few bucks and go pre 2021 or go new. I think you've helped me to decide. I was looking to see a side by side comparo of both and the difference between the v6 and i4. The 2021+ front end looks sinister, but the ass end and the overall shape of the pre 21s actually look better to me. Throw in the v6 power and I think I might be sold. Thanks for saving me about 12 grand. Who should I make the commission check out to? 🤣

Great comparison. you’re doing something that nobody else is doing with racing different generations of the same model. That’s a nice comparison to see and if they made the new generation faster or not. But I like the 4cyl in the new generation.

Newer isn’t always better. The 18-20 has the perfect blend of looks and performance if you choose the V6

The J35 reigns supreme, and the engine would have delivered its power much better paired with the Honda 10 speed auto rather than the 9 Speed ZF.

I really like the styling of the previous gen TLX. The interior didn't match the greatness of the exterior though.

I had a 2020 V6 Aspec and now have the 2021 version. The V6 feels way stronger and I also got better real world gas mileage in it. I miss that engine big time. Overall the new car is nicer but the 2020 V6 is way better. Not sure why they got rid of that engine especially with how it performed with power and mpg.

i can see that the v6 is faster after some get up and go but I want to know which one handles better in every day driving? Meaning which of the TLXs are more willing to take a 90 degree turn?

I picked the TLX 2020 to be the overall winner. I purchased a new 2010 TL Tech SH-AWD (don't ever recall there being a 2010 A-SPEC, and it looks like the one featured here was wearing aftermarket exhaust tips/finishers) with a 6spd manual and replaced it with a 2019 A-SPEC V-6 SH-AWD after the TL was totaled in a collision caused by a 16 y/o. As fast as that TL was, I believe that even though my 2019 is rated with less horsepower and has a slightly smaller engine displacement, that the 2019 is quicker. I've driven the 2nd gen as a dealer loaner and as much as I like how quick it is, displacement of the V-6 over the I-4 turbo, along with the 2nd gen's heavier curb weight, I felt would prevail.

Awesome race Sam really enjoyed it and Interesting the 2.0T 4 Cylinder Accord is faster then the older gen 3.5L V6 Accord in stock configuration but in Acura versions it's the other way around with same engines I guess it's coz of the extra weight and awd which slows down the 2.0T in the new Acura TLX A-spec.the 3.7L TL is a quick car of its time and even today with some bolt ons and a tune it really shows it's potential

Love the channel just wished you tested like for like or at least ones with the same miles on it or with the 2020 I'd like to know what wheels that car has on it, particularly the material and weight. First mod I always do is decrease unsprung weight which effects ride, handling, dynamics, and acceleration...

I am happy with my 4G TL. All I am doing is weight lowering mods. Lighter wheels, better suspension parts. If I can find a lighter hood, that will be good too.

The new TLX should’ve had that glorious direct injected V6 as a base engine.

So clearly the 4G TL is faster than the New TLXs. The driver clearly slowed down at the end of the sport mode race after being almost two car lengths ahead.

Is the driving mode selector a Canada specific feature? My 4g TL SHAWD manual does not have that

That last one sucked, the 4th Gen started rolling early. Regardless, I own a 4th Gen 2012 TL SH-AWD. I love my car. The dealer asks to upgrade me every time my car goes in for service and I tell them every time that I am still very happy and comfortable in my car.

Those Honda v6 engines sound so good. Even if the 4 cyl is faster off the line, is it as fun to rev out ?

If you had someone who could drive manual, The 2010 would have destroyed the 2020. Looks like he blew the shift at the end of the drag race and if he would have launched it at 4000 rpm it wouldn't have even been a race

3.5V6 NA is just way more fascinating than boring 2.0 turbo, in every aspect from power to smoothness to exhaust note! Can you add Lexus ES in this competition?

Great comp V6 sound can't be replaced but the 2.0T tuneability is much easier. A simple K Tune and bang roll reversal.

First of all I think you guys are geniuses for using older models with newer models , I really enjoyed this video , but I think the fact that the 2021 tlx only has 4 cylinders it's at a big disadvantage against 2 v6 cars even tho it's newer .. can't wait to see more videos like this 👍

This is VERY interesting. I figured the 19 TLX Aspec would take it. The 21 TLX already has a tune available. So what you gotta ask your self is, are you buying the car to race it? Or take it to the track? If yes, then buy a car that already comes with better performance than the TypeS and Aspec. Very good video again Sam!

I still have my 2010 6MT Shawd, its all in the driver's heel and toe that would make a difference in the drag race showcase here. No doubt that auto has faster shifts, but a V6 will eventually will blow a 4 banger. Good video.
