In my opinion this is the best bike channel I've discovered. No irritating music, no wacky goofing around trying to be a corporate presenter. Just serious motorbike repairs. Which is what I believe is why most of us visit ! Oh and Vinny :) !! I'm not naturally a dog person, but he's adorable :)

As soon as he cancelled the sale to you saying he had agreed to sell it to someone else for more money, I would have walked away. That said a lot about what type of person you were dealing with.

Yep. IMO, the correct reply would have been: "OK then. I don't want to go that high and we did have an agreement. If that deal falls through, give me a call." Then offer him $100.00 less than the original agreement if he calls. Maybe. :) Why should he expect me to live up to my end of the bargain after breaking his agreement with me?

@@Bob-ts2tu He is not really restoring them, that is a lot more work and probably not worth it for him. He is getting them running and selling them again I am sure. They probably usually break pretty soon if they are ridden, depending on the shape they are in when he gets them. Restoring is the most investment. But getting a old bike 100% mechanically sound takes more time, money and attention to detail also. He does the minimum, (gets it running good), and probably sells them for a fair price, (or he would not be able to sell them.). This kid needs to get an engineering degree, (I know the type). He would get good at it and he would get a lot of satisfaction with his own mind, and that is a beautiful thing. :)

Ya know, I don't know how many times I told my two boys when buying used cars, bikes, quads, -- DO NOT MENTALLY -- purchase them by the photos, or sellers word over the phone. On the drive over to LOOK at it stop fantasize on what you're going to do to it! You'll talk yourself into buying something you know you REALLY shouldn't. Ask me how I know this?? BAD PAINT looks GREAT in photos. We all know today's quad sellers hose/wet their units down before taking the photos of the POS that they really are!

one thing i wonder about is Why don't you film when you buy from a seller. then you get the entire history of the vehicle. PS your videos are very helpful for us who are amateurs

I have learned that if you cant start it AND ride it, then buy it at a price you wont be disappointed at when you have to tear it all down to fix it. I would call the seller back and tell them, sometimes they will give money back out of guilt/fear. Not always but can't hurt to try.

94 CR125R was a great bike. This one looks in pretty clean original condition and I think still a good deal …….you won’t lose money if you sell it after rebuilding I bet ! Very sought after bike for vintage racing and collectors

It is a total sham that previous owners lie about the condition or history of a bike. Your right in saying that you need to check out the condition of the machine. Compression, Brakes, Gas Tank & verify the Title Year with the Serial Number. Great video on Experience & Skills.

I got to say you will have a really nice CR 125 when your done. I thought it was my first bike at first but mine was a 92 CR 125. You have alot more patience than I do. Good video cant wait for the next one on this bike.

I appreciate your honesty. A 5-10 min quick look at oil, air filter, radiator, gas tank, shifting gears and kick starting it is mandatory. They took advantage of you here, but we often learn more from our mistakes than successes. You’re also a gentleman for not ripping the seller a new orifice for lying to you. I agree, really good bike channel. No crazy opening music, self serving look at me openings, just getting into the nuts and bolts. As for wearing gloves, learned my lesson, I have contact dermatitis on my hands, wear gloves. I also respect how the prior owner is not trashed in his videos.

You should have known to offer him $1200 when he said he had a bigger offer. Shyster's abound. Replace all the bearings while it is stripped down. Great video, takes me back (1978) to when the smell of oil in the morning was a job. Retired now and love your channel, you are a good diagnostic mechanic. Cheers bro!

Love your channel, really impressed with your mechanical skill set, you seem like such a likable, hardworking person. I like a previous persons idea of creating a buyer checklist of what to check when your going to look at these bikes, that may prevent missing things when your checking them out for the first time at the sellers location. This old Cr is definitely a cool bike, but with that said not sure what the resale is after you get it running correctly. If the end game is to make a profit with the resale of all these bikes your rebuild, then buying them at a much lower initial price has to be your #1 focus. Good luck with future endeavors and look forward to watching your videos!

Hell yeah Joe that bike looks great for being a 1994. I wish I could still ride with out changing gears. I have drop foot on my left side so I can’t move my foot up and down to switch gears. On my Harley my dad gave me has a rocker shifter

What a fantastic looking bike! Great job love your videos but not the first time that I think to myself why don’t you make a small checklist when buying a bike, small things that you can check but do not miss because every time you’re there if you have it listed I bet it will help :) Simple but very important things can be easily forgotten when doing a deal and that can work in your favour or against! I just by chance ran across your channel and haven't really watched anything else since. I was just wondering if you ever run across any late 70's Honda tl 250's? My dad had a couple and thats what I grew up riding in the 80's since the seat was lower than most.

One thing to think about is that those year models are amazing bikes and frames, and sell for waaaay more than you would think now.

Hobby machinist here, always use Propane heat for every (interference fit) tight fit. I see way to many YT jockeys pounding or pulling without their friend. All bearings and seals are going to need replacing, keep receipts if reselling. I see very little RUST inside the engine. A Good Thing! Vinny is a cool dog. His sniffer would have told you.

That cylinder plating Honda started using in 1988 (Nikisil), is awesome stuff. If you never get any detonation, or seize the engine, that plating lasted (on my 250), 6 sets of piston/rings, (6 years riding/racing every summer.), and it was getting worn a bit, but still in spec and usable. I even sucked in a bunch of sand the first week after I bought it new, (I assumed the air filter was oiled, and it wasn't.), and that sand did not hurt the plating at all.

Hi man, i love your videos, makes me want to do some tinkering aswell. This one was realy unsetteling to me. You said multiple times "Thats only my fault i guess". I respect your calmnes, your ability of staying on top, even though you were just lied straight to the face. I cant believe that the burden of buying something used is with the buyer just because dishonesty appears to be the new norm... Keep it up, channels and foremost people like you will stand out even as most of the videos online get more and more "AI-like".

You would like take people at their word but more and more it's not the case. In my experience, people that agree to a price and then increase afterwards are mostly shady. I would have had to pass. From what I've seen, you are a standup guy and an excellent mechanic. Stay true to you. Thanks for all the content

Sucks that the seller pulled that crap with you but hey at the end of the day you got a pretty complete bike that is in need of a restoration. It's way more than I had to work with on my 95 cr250 lol and after a motor rebuild that will be a really nice bike. Keep up the great videos 👍🏼👍🏼 old 2 strokes rule
