Some years ago I stood watching an idling V12. Can't remember the car, though it was either a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. What stood out was the sound. It wasn't aggressive. It didn't gurgle and spit like most all performance built V8 I've heard. Instead it was like a well engineered and maintained sewing machine. It may sound silly but that was what it made me think about, and it impressed me a lot. Now a relative owned an offshore racer that he competed with. This was powered by two Lamborghini V12 engines and those were an entirely different animal. Tweaked to the limit of what was possible and without any attempt at a muffler that thing screamed. At idle it was ear shattering loud. Give it a blip and it was as loud as any military torpedo boat at full throttle, and at full throttle you better be far off coast or there would be a lot of unhappy people. Turns out the average life expectancy of offshore racers is pretty low, and competing at the pro level will drain the bank accounts distressingly quickly. So his wife put her foot down and made him stop competing and sell off the boat. Well his doctors may have had something to say also as they were talking about how how the repeated belting he got while driving that boat did a number on his back, and were showing him wheelchairs talking about how it was just a matter of time...

Yes it's tiny and uses few materials, but you are paying for the thousands of hours of research and design, the hundreds of hours of machine work with expensive machines and the man hours it takes to put it all together and running right. Things also tend to be way more expensive when made in small quantities compared to mass produced. i would think its gotta be 4 to 8 HP right? im so curious also. probably very little torque though. big HP at high RPMs

Definitely make an exhaust for that one. It would sound awesome! Would love to see it in a build!

I would love to see a scale build of an Aston Martin with this! I think that'd be amazing!

Just think what it would sound with a equal lenght 12 into 1 header
@martinfisker7438
@martinfisker7438 10 місяців тому
I think most, if not all, real engines run 12-into-4 equal length headers - 12 into 1 probably reduces the pressure pulses to a level where they are unusable. It may make a little more sense on a scale model, where the headers are extremely short and therefore tuned to unrealistically high RPMs

Only one engine has been sold on your page, you are the only one on the planet that has spent 4500 bucks on the engine, congratulations for being able to show us this tremendous little toy. It seems to me a piece of channel for motor and radio control fans.

that engine sounds more like a lawn cutting implement than a v12. when these engines don't sound right it ruins the aesthetic.

A single carb for 12 cylinders is an odd choice, even for a small engine like this

Reduction gearbox and big 5 bladed propeller and some nice scale exhausts, then into a scale spitfire.:) Johnny do you have the link to the small electric screwdriver still?

Damn. I'm into 100 yo hit and miss engines and I recently found out - so is my sister. She's looking for one to power her off grid ambitions. This is great. Thx for the upload.

Somebody really needs to make an oil control ring that works on this scale. The exhaust looking like a 2-stroke always kills my appreciation of these types of models.
