@@TheFool2cool no, if the cable is ripped out of the plug, the ground wire should be the last one making contact. So it should be left longer. Some connectors, like this one have the ground terminal longer to have the same effect, you should never have the ground shorter than the others.

Usually the ground connector is a bit longer/closer to the cable entry and should be the last conductor to disconnect. I also leave the neutral longer because you don't want to lose neutral
@han5vk
@han5vk 6 місяців тому
The Earth terminal is about a centimeter longer than the rest. All the wires were cut to the same length. Therefore the Earth one will disconnect last without needing to cut the others shorter.
@harddiskwp
@harddiskwp 2 місяці тому
@@han5vk the scenario is that the cable strain relief fails and the cable is being ripped out of the plug. hence, keep 5mm difference between live and neutral, and 5mm-1cm between neutral and ground wire length.

@@harddiskwpYes that was what I was talking about. If the earth terminal is 1cm closer to the failed strain relief than the others, it will fail last, even if all the wires are cut to the same length.

@petermichaelgreen
@petermichaelgreen 2 роки тому
It's a butchered version of a harmonized cable code. The code written properly is H07-RN-F. H tells you it's a harmonized cable. The two numbers are a code for the voltage rating, 07 means up to 450V to ground and up to 700V between cores. In practice though the higher rated cables with thicker insulation are used more for their increased durability than for their increased voltage rating. The two letters in the second section tell you the material the insulation and sheath are made from. R means insulated with ethelyne-propolyne rubber or equivilent. N means sheathed with polychrlorophene (neoprene) or equivilent (better for oild/grease resistance than normal rubber). The -F tells you it's a fine stranded (flexible) cable. It does not tell you the size and makeup of the cable. That is coded with a seperate code, for example 5G6mm² for a cable with 5 cores, one of which is green/yellow and with a CSA of 6mm².
