@@gerudraven2881 Depends on the person. People with ASPD rarely actually kill, they just don't feel any empathy and have a sort of "emptiness" that makes them distant from everyone else in the world. From what I understood back in school, it's like 6% of the population who have this condition. While they by nature wouldn't feel anything if they did kill a person, they still would be able to recognize how it would effect them legally. It could also be that they were so poorly raised that they became monsters due to their clearly horrid upbringings. Like... One kid was able to get their hands on drugs multiple times, while the other had a pedophile as a father. Not to mention both kids having multiple indications of some sort of neurodivergence on top of it all... Really, they could have any number of conditions.

Im leaning toward hate crime too but its honestly just as likely that she was simply an easier target being the reason they targeted her. Like if she had the same anxieties and awkwardness without being trans he (in that hypothetical of not being trans) would have been targeted just the same but I have never believed in the mentality that if someone is from a certain group and they're attacked that it becomes a hate crime by default, that mentality is turning it into more of a meme of a privileged class which is causing way more harm than good
@melon9755
@melon9755 Місяць тому
@@JohnDoe-og2bt I am completely aware of that as well. I know when any crime happens to someone considered a minority, it's automatically a hate crime. When in reality, the person that committed the crime probably wasn't thinking of the color of their skin, their gender etc. They were just looking for someone vulnerable, or alone. OR, they are two people with personal drama that went too far. I understand a person killing a trans person is not an automatic hate crime. It can be hard to determine where the line is drawn, and it's not so black and white. Over all I feel like trans people could be more vulnerable to crimes by the nature of stigma and people disliking them. Especially depending on what country/area you live in. @@JohnDoe-og2bt My gut says hate crime because every other person on that list, Eddie talked Scarlett down or got disinterested over. He didn't for Brianna. He encouraged it and the way he engaged with Scarlett about it said a very different story to the others. Brianna's trusting of Scarlett was preyed on for sure, she was vulnerable, so there's some complex elements in this that can't be put towards that. They would have hurt that Eric kid, but they let him go when he didn't take the bait. They never tried again. What made Brianna different? Because she didn't go meet them on one of the times. So what kept the fixation going? They tried THREE times and succeeded the third because Eddie hated Brianna's transness enough to not talk Scarlett down and Scarlett was jealous and stubborn to the idea of killing her. That's my take on it, it wasn't a big rage fuelled attack in the standard sense, but it was encouraged to some degree by both parties. I agree though that it's more nuanced. It could have just been Scarlett couldn't get anyone else but Eddie's comments and calling her 'it' and all this, it just sits rotten. Idk.

Seeing half the comments being “womp womp” “he, not she” “rest in hell BRIAN” “there’s nothing wrong with getting rid of it” makes me violently ill. Tbh I don’t care if you’re not the biggest trans supporter, you can at least respect her enough AFTER HER DEATH to be kind about it. I mean, in an ideal world there would be no need because nobody would die over it because people would respect and support each other, but just because it isn’t that ideal world doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put some respect on a dead person’s name.

I lived around the same area a few years back, Eddie's Dad actually tried to lure my little girl into the house, she was supposed to call at the house so eddies sister could play outside, when my daughter knocked on the door, the dad answered and told her that his daughter was not home yet, but if she wanted to, my daughter could come in and wait with him. My lil girl refused and walked off, a few moments later my daughter got a call from Eddie's sister, saying " i thought you was coming round?" She told my lil girl, that her dad is strange saying "he knew I was inside upstairs, why would he say that to you?" I was told this story today, as Eddie ratcliffes dad has now this week been found guilty of taking pictures of kids. I'm so relieved that my daughter walked off.

@kayjay7585
@kayjay7585 Місяць тому
@@maniaclaugh I genuinely want to give you honest input in regards to your worries and I hope you believe me that I have the best in mind for you and your family. There are fundamentally two more things besides instilling kindness that you as a parent can do to help your child grow up with the strength to do the right things, no matter the peer pressure: -avoid building any sort of resentment -teach them mindfulness and meditation and see that they understand their capacity to hurt and harm and how to only do so in self-defense and when absolutely needed. To not build resentment in your child, you yourself have to be grounded, emotionally healthy, aware of your own needs and how to get them met. You also need to see your children as the full humans they are, make them feel that their needs are just as important as anyone else's and give them as much autonomy and responsibility as they are able to handle and want to do so, as well as the circumstances allow. If your child doesn't have a significant amount of frustration built up, then it won't have the need to lash out at someone weaker when given the chance. Next up is to teach your child to be aware of how their words can hurt others and of how they physically can really hurt someone when they lose control. You'll have plenty of moments that present a good teaching opportunity in these regards. A more advanced and incredibly valuable lesson is how to be mindful, especially of one's own motivations and regarding this issue, of the more primal impulses. Children and especially teenagers can meditate and it is THE way to become aware of one's impulses before they manifest. Just the practice of mindfulness and meditation itself will do the trick. It's a bit of a cliche, but martial arts are usually great in many of these regards. Teach your child how to fight, so they never have to. If your child is emotionally healthy and mindful of their impulses, then you can be assured that they'll withstand negative influences.
@introusas
@introusas Місяць тому
You want to believe that because you don’t want to think that these sort of actions are the product of the society we live in, but they are. Yes, these kids were predisposed to violence. The part of the story where you mentioned that Brianna was in an inclusion unit reminded me of what happened to me as a child. I was heavily bullied to the point where I could no longer even walk through the school gates. I started "therapy" and was moved to a centre for disruptive children and learning disabilities, I felt so out of place surrounded by kids from abusive homes and never understood why I had I to leave and the bullies didn't. Holy fuck? That’s awful! What a bunch of sickos! So glad you’re out of that environment now. I’m not trans but I am autistic, and though I’ve never been threatened in that way or that extremely, I did have a rock thrown at my head once, and was emotionally tormented most days. The school system is a bitch.

I had to tell my child who is Trans to be careful about who she shares her gender identity with because of this and that makes me ill. No one should have to hide but I’d rather her be quiet and safe than get murdered for being herself.

I really appreciate how you talk about the victims and really humanise them. It makes you really think how horrible this is and how real their human lives were (I struggle lots w empathy, so tahnk u)

As a trans person, if I’m ever murdered I want Stephanie to be the one to cover my case. The way she handled this one felt very respectful of the victim, which I find to be rare when the victim is transgender. Thank you for covering this case

I went to a vigil shortly after her passing and I remember the police saying that this wasn’t a hate crime and it made the whole situation so much worse and devastating for our community. Rest in peace, Brianna 🤍

I think because Brianna was fetishize by her murderer. Making it a case of Envy. Since Brianna has some stunning genetic traits, most trans victims were killed by men, but being murdered by women?... it's envy.

@@princeofdarkness4711 There's a lot of cisgender women that have naturally stunning features. Her transness was their primary reason for killing her.
