Yes! Vi suffers the most in my opinion. She has all of Jinx's suffering - AND she now holds herself as responsible for Jinx's suffering. And then on top of it, she is forced to choose not just unfairly between a lover and her family, but also between her ideals (Zaun) and her emergent life (Piltover). This show has a lot of strangely overpowered characters; echo, Jayce, jinx being geniuses (seriously, what the odds of not one Einstein level genius being present at a moment in time, but three - Jayce, Jinx, Viktor). But easily the most powerful of all, the most Mary Sue, is Vi, who basically punches her way out of shattering trauma with an exhausted smile.

The most heartbreaking moments of Arcane are the ones not even spoken of. The ones you have to self realize to understand their impact. 1. Sky is the little girl that watches over Viktor as a child playing with the boat he made in episode 6. She's had an unrequited crush on him pretty much her entire life. Marvelling at his ingenuity. Then she died to save him from the hex core that he created. 2. Vi gave Powder a blue flare saying "Where ever you are. Light this up and I'l find you" Powder has blue clouds tattooed all over her arms and body. She's always been calling out to Vi to come save her.

I will say, Jinx may have clung to random affection over none at all but Silco wasn’t really a toxic choice of affection in this case. He actually cared for her. I think it was nice that the show let us also overthink how Silco actually feels for Jinx with her up until the very end. β€œThey could all burn!” ~ β€œI was never going to give you to them. You’re my daughter. ” ~ β€œDon’t cry. You’re perfect.”
@Meraxes6

Their relationship was incredibly toxic, even though Silco loved her. He dealt with his own trauma in unhealthy ways, saw himself in Powder, and proceeded to teach her how to deal with her trauma in unhealthy ways. He doesn’t help her grow up or move past it because he never did that himself. He also uses her for his own gain and alienates her from her family, classic abusive behavior. He did have β€œgood” intentions though. Which is a major theme of the show, and the reason their relationship is so well-written for this story. The road to hell is paved with good intentions

It really should be noted that Vi was just a kid here as well, at most in her early teens, and she just lost her father and brothers and discovered her sister was the cause, even if it was not intended. And the fact she just moved around the corner to cool off, that she never planned on actually leaving, really showed that despite everything she still cared about her and her face showed she regretted striking Powder and her words. She looked at her hand after she struck her, saw Powder's blood on the wrapping, the same wrapping with the dried blood of the people Vi had hit. I'm sure that if Silco and Marcus hadn't shown up Vi would have eventually collected Powder and brought her back. I have a still do into adulthood (in fact it's currently getting worse and I will most likely being seeking therapy for it when I have the money and insurance necessary). The reactions and pure panic, scared of your own mind and thoughts. For a bit all you know is fear and the panic sets in. It's so accurate, it was the first thing I thought of to. Throw in the thoughts of if anything she does is worth it given how Mylo thinks and the fact they won't bring her and that if they die, their last thoughts will (in Powder's mind) be that she was and always will be a Jinx. The second she could prove it, the fear was gone. She had purpose and they would not view her as a jinx ever again. And then it all goes wrong. Her actions just reaffirmed her worst fears and she has a much more major panic attack, one that only Vi could have fixed at that moment. She was as deep into fear as she could get, and as somebody who has felt death anxiety strong enough that I just sat crying for several hours, her jumping on Silico fits 100%. Anything and EVERYTHING that even mildly soothes your mind is taken. Your brain and emotions cannot handle that level of suffering and stress. Yes Vi walking away was understandable, but a short few words to reassure Powder she would be right back and doesn't hate her would have gone a long way. When Jinx later remarks that Vi made her, THAT exact monet, calling her a jinx and walking away was what made her Jinx. That's the anger you see in the eyes. Jinx is her answer to her fears that she will always just end up ruining everything, if that's how it ends up, might as well do it on purpose and learn to love and tale pleasure in it.

@@Crow23346 It is very Hollywood, that part. Just because shimmer is a thing established previously in Arcane does not make it less of a macguffin like how other drugs or as an example X gene is a thing in X-men. Both in how it can heal wounds, power up people and is a drug that make addicts. Like how joker is insane and becoming "worse" after falling into a vat of chemicals (as Harley does as well). It is not necessarily mind-altering, but an event traumatic through the body. Superpowered drug with multiple effects and shown to make people violent and show people more like an enraged hulk do not make it less Hollywood because it is refined it into creating hulking suits as well as powering bionics. The insane comes from within, but it is not uncommon in Hollywood to have some kind of experiment event that does the triggering or makes it worse. Regardless if it makes them a superpowered individual or just further madness. Not even Hollywood creates most of their "madness" out of thin air, but have often short and bad backgrounds as well as underlying and often previous if short explained mental states that gets worse for some reason, experiment or event. That is exactly what happens in the series, but we do get a lot more context than perhaps normal. Also, not to spoil, but there is someone important that didn't actually die and will be back as another "champion from the game" because of Singed experimentation, meaning we also have that trend going on regarding Hollywood treatment.

You see that Powder/Jinx has no emotional skin, she feels EVERYTHING dialed up to 11. Later. as Jinx you can see her HEAVILY disassociating. I actually don’t think Powder really knew who Silco was when he first spoke to her. When Mylo and Clagger ask who took Vander, Vi doesn’t know either, and neither did Ekko. None of the kids were familiar with him, they just knew where they went because Ekko, true to form, followed them. I don’t think Powder’s brief glimpse into the chaos of the fighting gave her a sight of Silco either. She was focused on Vi and those threatening her directly. So from her perspective it’s just a stranger, a man with what we perceive as a threatening voice asking where her sister is, but that Powder may have interpreted as genuine concern from an adult. She is not choosing an enemy over no one, she is choosing a β€œkind and concerned” stranger over being alone. She is already familiar with adopted father figures in Vander and even Benzo as an uncle. Obviously she figured out who he was later, but by then not only had he accepted her but she likely felt she deserved to be with β€œthe bad guys” because she caused the death of most of her family and was tormented by guilt.

Since you mentioned guilt, a comment I saw on Reddit pointed out that during the warehouse explosion when Powder is knocked back, she has an expression of awe, possibly for a couple reasons: she's finally useful, she admires the beauty of her traps and explosions. Then she begins feeling intense guilt because she felt admiration at the action which killed her foster family. The guilt would add to your idea that she now sees herself as evil. The reason I mention the guilt would stem from her feeling of admiration specifically and not necessarily from killing her foster family is that it adds onto this next point which is arguably far fetched. Another comment pointed out that in the final scene of the season Jinx calls herself "different" with what you could argue is a shameful/guilty intonation and camera angle. Perhaps the traps and explosions which contributed to her "differences" are now associated with feelings of guilt and self-loathing due to the tragedy she caused in ep 3. It's more likely other reasons I've read though.

That him hugging her was actually a real move of true empathy, comfort, and reassurance that he maybe wish he could of had, rather than full blown manipulation on his part. He truly loved and cared for Jinx in his own messed up way (not saying this at all makes him a good parent or that anything he did is made ok, just that he really did care and empathised with her, thus leading him to project his own trauma, feeding both of their abandonment issues).

Another thing I noticed during the scene where Vi was packing her bag to go fight, powder was in the background hyper aware of every movement/body language that Vi does and was able to predict her next move. With trauma victims who’ve had to learn to adapt by attaching themselves to the person they depend on for survival (BPD, Stockholm syndrome, growing up with an abusive parent), they’re highly perceptive of β€œtheir person’s” moods and very in-tune with that person’s body language bc they’ve essentially merged into that person, they often have no sense of self unless they are attached to someone.

I feel so much for that poor child. If you haven't done one already, I'd like to see a professional breakdown of Silcro's evolved relationship and feelings toward Jinx, juxtaposed against how we see his personality manifested in his actions and interactions with the rest of the cast.

Arcane truly is a masterclass in dramatic/poetic storytelling. I would love to see your reaction to act 2 (episodes 4-6) and act 3 (episodes 7-9) of this series, especialy the last 5 minutes of this season. SPOILERTALK below: . . . I think there are two options to interpret Powders/Jinxs behaviour in the last minutes of the season. 1) she realy blames her sister for what she has become, and that she got "replaced" by Caitlyn, which would go along with Stings fantastic "What could have been"/the song in the background OR: 2) After Silcos death, Powder made the choice to embrace Jinx to push her sister away, to protect Vi from the monster she thinks she has become/the "Jinx" she has always been. Killing yet another father figure/Silco has cemented that notion even deeper in her mind, even if she was acting on impulse to save her sister. In this case, that "I thought that maybe you could love me like you used to. Even though i am ... different." wasnt so much a "Why?!" directed towards Vi (which just told her that it will be OK), but an admission to herself. Like: "I see it now - i see that you cant/shouldnt love me." Thats also why she didnt kill Caitlyn - because she recognized how much she ment to Vi and that Cait, not her, should be with her sister. If you take a look at "Jinx" when shes walking up the ramp with the RPG, facing the council-tower (head down, arms/shoulders hanging): she isnt driven by anger or hate. She seems sad but she knows what she HAS (not wants) to do. Still, after she gets up there, she is struggling hard to fire that RPG. Because she knows that that will be the point of no return, finaly parting from her sister ... but with it, saving her from Jinx. Cinematography sidenote: its not her pulling the trigger that gets the RPG going, but her screaming in emotional agony, which is morphing into the roar(same pitch as her scream) of the rocket shooting out of the launcher. Having a younger sibling, i got to admit that this final minutes broke me, especialy in combination with the song...

Tell me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the rocket will completely, completely tear them apart. It’d probably take time after time after time of terrible things to get it through VI’s head that it’s COMPLETELY hopeless. Jinx may have made herself an enemy of all of Piltover but Vi might still think in the back of her head that there’s something she can do. Especially if she ever realizes what is hurting Jinx the most, she’d do anything to put her mind at peace. They are family, after all. It takes a lot to 100% decide someone like that is an enemy.

For me it was an extremely forced script. They could have taken a few more minutes to strengthen the outbreak. I think it's a shame that she will never pay for the crimes she committed, especially after growing up, after all she is a main character in LoL. I was waiting for someone breaking down the psychological issues of the main characters (which are insanely godlike depicted) leading into certain relationships and actions. I hope you also cover adult Jinx, Silco and Vi (young and adult). Also please talk about the final and what kind of solution would have been the best - many people were lashing at Caitlyn for breaking free and pointing a gun at Jinx. But how would you react in such a situation? Honestly, I couldn't imagine to react any different being in the same life threatening situation with someone obviously gone crazy and having a gun + having issues of extreme jealousy pointed at you. Jinx could have easily shot Caitlyn (also tried to shoot her in ep7 on the bridge)-also Vi triggering (I think unconciously because the doesn't understand the extent of her sisters mental issues) her severe PTSD - do you think it helped in that situation or made it worse? Storywise the outcome was "ok" or better said reasonable considering the understanding of the characters about each other and only Sico was shot but what would you think would have been better here? I also think a main problem in the frst season is, that Vi lives in the past regarding her sister and wants her child sister back which obviously can not happen (maybe she is so drawn to that image because she took on the role of a mother to Powder early on and as we know for a mother her child is always her child and it is very difficult to let go of that image even for a normal mother-child relationship). I think she lacks the understanding that this is not possible and she needs to accept Jinx as a part of her sister (also mass murderer...). They both experienced a lot in their time apart (see episode 6 when Vi said at the reunion that she also had to do things to survive ... we can only imangine what she went through in prison because nothing is told about that excerpt the regular beating indicated by the prison guard) and Jinx on the other hand stresses the fact that both changed which is really true. Also a lot of perople hate Vi for lashing out on Powder in that situation in episode 3. I am glad you gave a few words on Vi in this video even it is for Powder/Jinx but I think people don't understand that Vi also has her demons/trauma and was also a child at that time- I think such situations are still hard for adults to handle -nevertheless a teenager(from the archives in the game we could read that she must be around 17 years old at that time) who was 2 episodes before told by here guardian that she is responsible not only for there sisters actions but also for the safety of the group ("Whatever happens this is on YOU". She tried to do the best she could - leaving Powder out of the fight but she didn't listen and blew everyone up just when they were about to be ready to escape. This tragedy and the guilt and the heavy responsibility that Vi was feeling in that moment that was taught by Vander(which was the right parental thing to do because the relationship of Vi and Vander was healthy- instead of Jinx and Silco) let to her loosing control there - and yes you can not take back what she did/said, but she had to be like 8 years in prison for that - enduring hell there - that doesn't erase the pain of Powder, but at some point there needs to come in some acceptance and forgiveness on both sides in order to eventually patch up the relationship again. I don't say it was good what Vi did but I think the reaction was understandable, for some people even relatable. On an outlook, do you think the sisters can come to terms with each other and patch it up ?

I have a sister I look up to 24/7 because she was the only person in my life as a kid that actually PAYED ATTENTION TO ME unlike the rest of my family. But then one day she wanted to move in with our mom (our mom living alone, we have no dad, and are living with our 2 grandmas) and that meant...that she had to leave me, alone, in a place where people ignore me. I cried, feels like almost exactly like powder/jinx in that video EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, I would rip up drawings and cry and cry almost screaming like. And all my grandmas would do is come in the room and say "SHUT UP, SHES GONE NOW" I cried until I just couldnt cry anymore, to the point i when I cried it just to pure sadness from the inside with no tears coming out, OR turn into pure anger

Correction Vi is 14-15 around this time of Arcane, Powder is around 7-8 years old in this scene, we know it since Vi told it to Caitlyn that Powder was 7years old during the parkour scene in act 2. The age distribution in the game League of Legends is kinda inconsistent, because the lore of many characters and the world of Runeterras has been updated many times now. Jinx has been said to be 21 and Vi 23 in old lore. That's 2 years apart and also their siblings relation wasn't confirmed at that time. But now it's been updated but no official years as of now is confirmed for them in current time lore. It just says that Vi is in her 20s right now. But I can try to estimate because officially Jayce is 35 years old in present League of legends. He was 24 years old around this time in Arcane that's 11 years between. We know by the lore that Caitlyn is about 1 or 2 years older than Vi and she is 27 in current League that's means Vi is around 25-26. Remove 11 years from 25-26 and Vi is around 14-15 in a the time of this video. Since Pow-pow is 7years old here from what Vi said to Caitlyn. It means Jinx is 7-8 years apart from Violet. That means Jinx is around 17-18 years old in the game. So Jinx should be 16-17 around the time from act 2 and 3. So The present time of League of legends is taking place around 2 years after the events of Arcane act 3 of season 1.
