@@AnnClaire because the dude could have said the most general things like the "I love you" and "I will miss you" sentiments that are always said in those moments. And if Ryan posted anything about his grandfather's passing, the dude could have taken anything from it. And this guy was most definitely ripping off Hannah and Ryan for money, because that is what "psychics" do. No "psychic" has ever been proved to be capable of what they do. In fact, the most famous "psychics" who had the most credibility have all been exposed as frauds who rely on cold readings and other methods that allow them to be vague and broad while still seeming credible.

Serious advice: if you are experiencing unexplained phenomena in your house, hire a home inspector, not a psychic. Also, I experience really vivid dreams and sleep paralysis a lot, so I am really familiar with my own signs of when I'm dreaming or experiencing sleep paralysis. For a dream, I don't pinch myself because your brain can trick you into feeling the pinch, What you should try is close your mouth and hold your nose. If you can still breathe, you're dreaming. For sleep paralysis, try saying anything. I usually am only able to murmur or breathe heavy.

@@aloevera5206 Well the most common occurrence is I’m awake but I can’t move or get up. The scariest it ever got was when I lived in an apartment where the bedroom could see into the kitchen, I woke up and saw some dark figure going through my kitchen, a monster looking thing, and I couldn’t move or speak or scream, just breathe really hard. I eventually woke up and nothing at all had been disturbed in the kitchen. A lot of the time I think I have woken up and started my day, only to eventually realize I’m still dreaming. This can happen like ten times in a row. The longer I stay in the dream the scarier it gets. I’ve been told when this happens that I moan and almost cry in my sleep until I wake up.

@@FortuitousOwl this sounds though, hope it gets better soon. A couple years ago I had sleep paralysis and specially nighter terrors somewhat frequently, it sucked. I ended up looking for psychiatric care and some sleep medications where actually helpful at reducing the occurrence.

@@matheusp572 Thank you, it’s hard to express how seriously these nightmares affect me, most people write it off cause they are “just dreams”. I have been thinking I should seek medical help for this, though the one time I casually brought it up I was recommended melatonin and that gave me probably the worst nightmare I’ve ever had! Though from reading up on it it’s not uncommon for people who have tried it. If you don’t mind me asking, did you talk to a therapist or like your regular GP?

i know other ppl have said this, but i love how when hannah and ryan are getting emotional about the spirit, shane stays quiet. despite his valid skepticism, he knows it’s not a moment to speak about it

This episode really put Shane in a tough position, and like others, I like how he handled it. But Shane is a person with a strong sense of justice who really doesn't like to see other people get grifted or manipulated, and I think I can see him getting angry when he realizes that the psychic likely dug for information ahead of time to elicit a response out of Hannah. Shane is very empathetic to other people who are hurting or grieving, as we've seen before. I think his discomfort when Hannah starts crying is not out of any discomfort with HER, but rather his realization that the psychic did something dishonest to secure her belief and move her to tears in a highly public production. I think Shane has nothing but compassion for Hannah and Ryan, but I'd be willing to bet he HATES that "psychic." I saw another comment mention that the psychic in this investigation got a colder reception from Shane than Bloody Mary did in New Orleans. I think Shane believes that Mary believes what she claims - it's her spiritual beliefs and life's practice, after all. This psychic is a psychic for money. I don't think Shane believes that this guy believes, and that's an ethical boundary of Shane's.

@@atlasone3263 oh yikes - yeah, with that context, I can definitely see Shane fuming. The show paid for that rather than Hannah and her family, so at least it didn't come out of her pocket, but Shane would have known how much it cost and would have been thinking about other families scammed by that guy's services. No wonder Shane looks uncomfortable.

The thing with Don’s name feels really scummy to me because that’s a pretty easy trick psychics pull. They get your name, and then check obituaries of people who share your name or a mother’s maiden name (all of which is pretty easy to find out, you’d be surprised) and then get a “feeling” of that name, and because you’re emotional you don’t think as critically about how they found out that name and assume your loves one’s spirit is around you when the psychic is just adept at using public records

Well that's all true. He could've learned about the family's moving date, the name of the father or even that ryan's granpa passed away recently. i don’t think he’s as bad as some other psychics i’ve seen but i def agree that some of his practices were kinda scummy. especially the whole “don” thing. ik a lot of psychics will get the names of their clients and look for obituaries and pretend as though they have no prior knowledge of their family. many psychics use the distress and grief of families who want to hear from their loved ones one last time and although this psychic was particularly light in this aspect, i do agree that it’s morally-deprived

I mean I wouldn't document anything either unless I'm straight up seeing things undeniable that cannot be explained with sleep paralysis, tiredness, dreams, etc. They do not believe in ghosts/demons, but you can tell they are getting stressed by these weird occurances, and the more sharing of stories and stress/fear the family will have the more they will get more dreams/sleep paralysis that will be on the same themes, and the more they will link regular weird occurrences to this so called ghost/demon. This is one example of how shared delusions, shared illnesses, and shared mental illnesses can occur.

7:35 - 8:25 Hate to do this, but this isn’t evidence. The medium could have done a search on who lives in this house and the names of family members. As for Ryan’s grandfather, he probably was aware that he was going to be working with the Unsolved team, did some research and found out that Ryan had a passing in the family. As for the things Ryan said, unless it was something incredibly specific, the medium probably said something along the lines of I love you or I was happy to grow up with you in my life. When my father passed, there are very few things that are said, it’s usually the most simple things. There’s actually precedent of Mediums doing research and making it seem like they know things they shouldn’t know. Shane being a skeptic wasn’t gonna bring this up since it would be incredibly rude to do so when they were having an emotional moment.

To be fair, she was(is?) a skeptic. I personally believe in ghosts, but if I didn't I'm sure I'd think I was just dreaming

It's funny, I've watched this episode like 6 times and it only just occurred to me that the "women wearing white dresses and men wearing white pants" might have been crime scene investigators. Maybe something really bad happened in that house.

You know,when I was a little girl,my step grandmother would brush my hair so hard,and Always put it up in pigtails or a ponytail.She would also curl it with rags,that she'd totally wrap around small handfulls of my hair,and I'd have to leave them in overnight So tight I could hardly sleep..

You can tell Shane was trying to hold back because this episode was about his colleague lol; he hasn’t been quiet because there was “evidence” in this episode, he was being quiet because he’s being respectful.

There is no more evidence of the supernatural in this video than in any of their other "investigations". Shane was just being polite.

Yeah. It seemed like that too since she’s pretty much a skeptic too but since being in her home since July and starting to experience some pretty scary stuff in August that makes her start to believe somewhat, I think he should be a bit more. He hasn’t exactly experienced what she experienced but he believes science till maybe he gets hit by one of these and maybe believes you never know. I’m just worried about Jackson. Maybe what he was experiencing with those men and women could be way more earlier then she thinks he is experiencing this.

@@sailcat9 lol three different people heard a girl making audible sounds at the same time. Not noise, not shuffling. Each person said they heard a girl. clear knocking heard around the house. Not creaking, but knocks. Then when they spoke to whatever it was, it replied with two clear clean distinct knocks. Again, not noise, not shuffles, not creaks... but clear knocks. Out of all the places ive lived, or slept at, i've never heard clear knocks like that. Only time was when it was water pipes, and its repetitive and mechanical, you can just be quiet and listen to a pattern and random knocking sound. This is always just one clear knock, without a pipe echo or additional rattling noise. Shane got goosebumps not from being scared but from his body reacting to something, the temperature changed and was caught by the device.

Regardless of whether mirrors serve as portals or not, Having such large mirrors next to the bed doesn’t feel comforting at all. It feels like bad fang shui at the very least. And as if they aren’t unnerving enough, they actually do serve as a type of portal…to the giant closet, and crawlspace. I think nix all the mirrors, and paint the walls more relaxing colors so it doesn’t feel so institutional. Changes the energy of the space all on its own.
