@@bennyblanco2523 It’s funny you mention napalm. Napalm is an armament, or a type of “arms” you could possess. But you can’t own or use napalm. It’s internationally banned for ethical reasons. Not even the US military can use it with committing a war crime. So an armament CAN be regulated without the 2nd Amendment imploding. Therefore, guns can be regulated without insulting or harming the Constitution.

The NRA was, for most of it’s history, a mostly apolitical organization that existed to promote responsible firearms safety and training. In fact, until the 1960s, it was pro sensible gun control. If that video is what you're using to describe them as 'militant' we have a serious disagreement about what that term defines. If anything, the NRA has been terribly ineffective at protecting our rights as enshrined under the 2A. If they were 'militant' in _any_ regard I'd expect them to be either more effective, which they are clearly not. At the end of the day it's not going to be some alphabet organization that defends our rights, but individuals that have the cojones to uphold their own and lead by example. That being said, I still disagree with the OP as he's just factually incorrect.

Let me prefix what I'm about to say by stating that I have voted democratic for federal office all my voting life. I have also owned guns for over 30 years and concealed-carry one daily. With that out of the way, I do agree that the second amendment is indeed in place to protect citizens from a tyrannical government. Unfortunately, as Americans, we have lost sight of what true tyranny is. Losing an election (fairly I might add) and being asked to wear a mask for our collective health isn't it.

The Capitol Hill Insurrection was not equivalent in any way to the unrest of last summer. One was a riotous mob trying to overturn the results a democratic election, the other, a response to systemic racism and police brutality. One was the result of distrust fomented by the president of the United States, the other, the criminalized existence of black Americans.

Convincing an ethnic minority that law enforcement is looking for any excuse to oppress, abuse and murder them is every bit as bad as convincing people that they can't trust the results of an election. Both narratives are propped up by circumstantial evidence of bad behavior that should be examined on a case-by-case basis but not taken as proof of anything broadly pervasive, systemic or coordinated.

@@HarrisonHollers you should be paranoid if they take firearms because that won’t stop criminals from having them. It typically lead countries to more violent crimes with guns after bans. You might want to research the UK and Australia. Also with police becoming defunded it will have a new variable introduced.

Seems like it did some good. Also, suicide deaths using firearms more than halved in ten years, from 389 deaths in 1995, to 147 deaths in 2005. The constitution can be amended again. It was never meant to be set in stone. Anywhere in Europe, people "protesting" with an AR15 over their shoulder, would be arrested, and if they resisted, they'd be shot. No question. Let's start with that.

@@Zanzibar_Dallax neither one of the weapons I have would do better the standard equipment for your average soldier. An ar15 uses rounds that are easily stopped by a vest. 45-70 while powerful is bolt action and designed for hunting. The national guard has other guns they use. I worked with them quite a bit but even a burst fire or single shot m4 is more powerful then the two I listed.

I am not American. In my country guns have very strict laws. I have never seen a gun in public other than the police. Our violence is massively lower but of course we do have some as all countries do. Just a thought. Maybe guns are the problem. Maybe America can learn from others.
