Also, you can't tell if a cylinder has lost compression just by listening to it... you would have to do a COMPRESSION TEST, which requires removing the spark plug, and installing a tester, UNLESS the engine freespins when you try to start it when there are timing issues.... It may have a misfire or something, but if it had no compression, it wouldn't drive.... If you don't know how things work in a mastered way, then you should leave it to someone who does, like my Dad says "He's got just enough information to be dangerous" If you want to be a mechanic, learn everything, and always be learning, if not, then don't at all.
