It’s good to see a well made tent made from good quality materials and to know it’s out there for who needs it, like military, or people who can afford it. I was excited to see the company listened and shared the tent for testing. I was disappointed in the fact that there was no test with a good long hard rain, but Luke said he didn’t have the room in his yard to set it up to dry out. For the price of the tent, I’m sure it would test well in no leakage and good sturdy through hard winds. It was very nice to see the niceness of this tent, and also could be used as a hot tent. Thanks for sharing!

It is lighter than the Russian Bear tent hexagon. Russian Bear sets up in 5 minutes like a ice fishing shelter. Plus it is double wall design and of course camouflage. It is just a bit bigger and much lesser in cost. The floor is removable all zippered in. You can get a insulated floor and one section pops up to another room or porch area. They have a accessory wall kit, I forget what they call it. I think that it is about 115 to 130 pounds. Ha, so definitely a car camping tent.
@Paul-VanHorn
@Paul-VanHorn Рік тому
@@craig7333 It is heavy as there is a center adjustable pole to add to the center in case of heavy snowfall. You can add clear windows that velcro into place on the outside for winter. Summer the windows have 3 layers the outside closure, then a screen and then the inner liner. This being a double wall tent. A lot more going on. Plus the stakes and 2 fiberglass poles to open one wall completely open and those poles go on the end to hold up the wall that becomes a roof basically. It is a decent tent considering how much this other military one costs. I thought that this one was expensive. Ha. It does come with a stove jack as well. And they do have smaller models. There are only a few videos on UKposts of the Hexagon Model. Anyway, good luck!

This tent LOL I used one of these for a summer and eventually sold it on Craigslist. We use to travel and tent camp mostly weekend type trips but some week long trips. This tent was cool at first, but after setting it up after around the fourth time it was like this sucks. Literally 90% of everywhere we camped people would ask about what tent it was and where did we purchase it. When we would tell them the price they looked at us like we had a 3rd eyeball LOL This is a lot of tent, we glamped a lot and it was super nice but this thing was heavy and you could literally beat someone with the metal poles 😂 It took us 2 months to resell it and I have no regrets, it was fun to have for a summer. But when we out this in the back of my jeep or truck of the car it was like throwing a body in the trunk haha. And the tent stakes on this tent are like something you’d see out of a vampire movie! All in all it would be a real good few weeks in one spot type of tent. But the price is absolutely to high. Is it a quality tent yes, but there’s tents that are just as good for a quarter the price. Looking back through my pictures using it, man it was cool looking!

Excellent presentation, straightforward & simple. I served 26 years in Regular Army from private in Parachute Infantry to Field Grade Officer at Corps Level as General Staff Officer. Your presentation brought back many remembrances of movement from cantonment to field conditions and attempting to expeditiously establish an effective operations flow. Frankly, in many cases, perhaps most, by the time operations were tented and personnel undercover, it was time to tear down, pack and move to an advanced or retrograde position, to once again expeditiously establish the operations flow. What I have seen in your demonstration, of this new technology fields housing equipment is the dramatic number of hours that can better channeled into Combat Operations. You get the point. Thank you 🇺🇸

For a military grade all season tent this is excellent. You have to put civilian tents out of your head and think military tent group. A 5 man Canadian Army Artic tent weighs in at 31.5 kg. Near 75 lbs! There was also a 10 man! Scary heavy! We hauled them and all the associated gear on a huge toboggan ( not the hat ). Your tent is amazing and probably cheap for what it is designed for. Exterior pockets for the guy lines is a feature that more tents should have, no doubt. So many times I wish I had those. Tangled lines are a PAIN! Awesome stuff. Last year I bought the Cabela's outback lodge. I love the tent but I was hoping for an easier set up bc it doesn't really have any traditional tent poles or pole sleeves. Unfortunately, the set up is just as painful, if not more, only in a different way. The big center pole & 4 tiny corner poles are no problem. It's the stakes that make set up a freakin B of a chore, there's like 28 of them! And they all have to be super thick stakes, driven deeply into the ground to properly work. Which of course limits you to specific locations as to where you can camp. Stretching out the guy lines adds an extra 5-6 feet to the overall footprint of the tent. It's already big enough, but you need so much extra area around the tent to run the lines out. Staking them in is an "up & down, up & down", monotonous nightmare... All the bending over, kneeling & standing back up just kills my legs. I have bad peripheral neuropathy so it ain't easy or fun. I pay for it for DAYS with sore, throbbing muscles throughout my legs. I can hardly walk for the next 2-3 days at the least. I still love the tent, it's just that set up & take down is terrible. I have the Cabela's Getaway 6 person dome & it's MUCH easier, but it doesn't hold heat as well & is much more susceptible to the wind. Although running the lines out on that tent is a piece of cake compared to the Lodge. Most the time the lines aren't even needed on the Getaway, but with the Lodge, it's absolutely necessarily to pitch the tent. The Outback Lodge is still solid as a rock though, esp in the wind & other harsh conditions (& with all those stakes, it should be.) It can take a beating (& give one) for sure. Great video & very cool tent. Thanks for sharing it.

I think the floor should be zipper attached for better water and bug protection. It should come part way up the side walks bathtub style and then zip all the way around starting/stopping on the stove jack side. This would help keep water out if it pools under the tent for some reason or flows past/under it and it will also better keep bugs out because we all know if there is an opening they will find it and crawl through it to get in.

Sure, it's a bit of a struggle setting up, but the bain of all soldiers is the end of op/trg teardown and move. What I would like to see is a video of a teardown stow away back in the bag after a week of use and weathering. I suspect it is like trying to stuff fifty pounds of live squid in a twenty pound bag. It sounds like the LiteFighter Dragoon Tent would be great for something like a quick FOB deployment, with a base structure. Thus, the HVAC ports and space. It's probably going to be a LOT cheaper too, considering some FOBs have crappy personnel spaces and limited ventilation. I like this review and this Tent seems perfect for multiple personnel as residents of a semi-temporary base of operations. Definitely would have to be transported and then placed. Unless there are ways to break the components into different transport packs, each person carrying a section.

I am initially impressed by this and it appears that it would make a great base camp for hunting. The weight of the tent is actually lighter than my canvas wall tents. Looking forward to you putting it through it's paces if that is your intention.

Great review Luke! This tent sort of reminds me of my Crua Cottage. Another expensive tent (on sale for $1,799) which I bought refurbished for $900 when first released. Like my Crua it looks like a challenge for a one person set up. The dry out issue is real and the exo-skeleton could become a problem with pole freezing in ice and snow. I also own a Kodiak Canvas 10×10 that is very single user friendly. Thanks for all the great reviews.

What are your thoughts/feelings on the Crua Cottage? They are out of stock right now, but they were on sale for $999 prior to being out of stock, and for $999 I was thinking about buying one.

Seems overkill but when you compare it to a similar sized, say 9x9 canvas tent the military uses as aid/ops tents, it's a lot lighter with a lot more features. Having to zip those canvas panels together and lash a hundred toggles together is an absolute nightmare.
@BRENDANTHERED
@BRENDANTHERED Рік тому
The main downside being its flammability, that thing would likely flare up in a flash, whereas canvas would be difficult to get alight.

For about 12yrs I used a Magellan 10 man tent for my camping and it served me well. However in south Texas I rarely see snow, maybe 1 every 10yrs so the Dragoon as great as it looks is probably graded for colder weather. I am however in need of a new tent and I like my space. Most tents off the shelves today just aren't big enough.

It’s impressive. I do a lot of camping but I’m 5’2 140lbs and prefer an instant tent that I can put my queen size air mattress in and on those rainy or snow days I also have portable folding tables that fits perfect inside. I usually have a big tarp that they tent sits on and I can pull over the top for additional overlapping the tent just in case I want to cook outside.

Seems like an awesome tent with a lot of modular options for a temporary setup. It's big and expensive because of it. You have a lot of ways to run water and air into and out of it, cook in it, small operations and so on. I honestly would want to try living in it for a year just to stress test the hell out of it because I doubt it's going to last 3 months of casual use before something goes wrong.

Looks like a great military tent, engineered to last and face the weather. Lightfighter offering it to the civvy market, most users will be commercial as joe public will not have much use for it on size and cost factors. I like it, we could afford it, but it does not fit into our bug out plan! Well done for securing a review of the tent Luke, as ever you bring the gear to the channel we get to see it, hear your honest comments and decide if it is for us or not.

My camping buddies were military gear designers for MSR and about 10 years ago we tested a tent that attached to the back of a Stryker vehicle that they charged $10,000 for. Not sure if it ever went into production, but that's the most expensive tent I've ever been in.

Speaking of massive... I've recently started messing with canvas tents. I acquired a Kodiak Canvas Flexbow tent and I must say, I'm really loving it. It's a car-camp-only type of thing for sure, no one I know is going to ruck this thing into the woods. Would love to see you mess around with and share your experiences in this realm.... Kodiak Canvas, White Duck, Teton Sports and so on.

Same here. Bought the 10x10 last year and absolutely love it. Granted it doesn't have a stove jack, but a buddy heater works great down to about 25 degrees. In the summer plenty of ventilation and the canvas breathes well. I have never once had any condensation issues.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I have the 13 ft Regatta Bell Tent, and canvas is a really undervalued material if you're hauling around 50 or 60 lbs anyway. White Duck has, imo, put out a few very nice products but I haven't heavy rain tested the canvas. I'm really curious to see his thoughts on the newer canvas tents.
