Uh, dude, Robin IS an established Muppet. Robin was even on the Muppet Show. He was also always voiced by Jerry Nelson as well. They chose well to use Robin as Tiny Tim.

Nowadays I can't help but love the puppet for Ghost of Christmas Past. The description in the book is of a spirit that flickers like a candle and is ever changing in Scrooge's eyes between youth and old age. In the film, not only is the ghost always shining with an inner glow, its features are just right to make it seem fitting for either extreme depending on the moment in the film. Speaking of the ghosts, how they interact with Scrooge ties into your talk of camera angles. Past floats to meet Scrooge eye to eye, as a long forgotten friend. Present starts by towering over him, but chooses to shrink down to meet Scrooge closer to his level. As for Future, he stands ominously over Scrooge at all times, a suffocating presence he can't escape. It's like they're teaching him how to treat others by example, both good and ill

The Marley and Marley scene was terrifying to me as a child. I was scared of knockers for a couple of years, but couldn't really explain it to my parents that it derived from a Muppets Christmas movie.

I love micahel cain's peformance in this because he wasn't just biggest grump, he feels like a very selfish person. Yes he did jokes that he'd enjoy for himself not caring about what others would think and he did really want to make sure tiny tim was okay if for any reason so he didn't feel worse about his actions. Knowing that his actions is why that kid died is when it finally starts to hit him and you see that. Because he wants it to stop but the ghost isn't letting him off. Because it's not about acknowledging his greed hurt others but it's about drilling it into his head how horrible his greed is and how it hurts everyone around him.

If I could only pick one Christmas movie to watch during the holiday season, it would be this one without question! I've watched it with my family since I was little and even own the soundtrack because I love the music so much. This movie will forever be the most iconic version of A Christmas Carol in my book.

I have gotten soundtrack cds for other beloved Christmas movies but it’s just never the same without the lines that go around or in it. So I tend to put the movie on in the background to listen to it because I’ve watched it since I was very little that I can watch it without actually looking at the screen. Lol In fact it’s been my go to movie to watch and listen to while I’m crocheting scarves and beanies for my family. I’m a new crocheter so I can’t look away from my work so it works out better to know the movie. Lol

I am thoroughly convinced that when Kermit, and thus Steve Whitmire, says "Life is made up of meetings and partings..." that he is deep down saying it for the whole cast and crew in reference to Jim and Richard Hunt. It just hits me harder than it should, or maybe thats the right amount and its sad so I want to say it shouldnt.

I can't count the number of times I watched this movie, however I was so upset when Disney took out the breakup song when it released to blu ray and streaming. I have tried other Scrooge movies, but I keep coming back to this one. Michael Caine is the man! I still cry at the end every time. Just something about it... I'm so glad to see other people appreciate it as much too. Merry Christmas to you and yours this and every holiday.

this movie formed me as a child. i remember when i was about 8 years old. my mother just introduced me to this movie and i got sick for a week and had to stay home alone. i spent every single morning with watching this movie. i watch it every time i am upset or overwhelmed with feelings and i always have to cry. it’s definitely my favorite movie of all time.

One piece of information to add. Tiny Tim is actually played by one of the earliest Muppet characters, the small frog named Robbin who is canonically Kermit's nephew. Top notch video. I really enjoyed it. This is probably my favorite Christmas movie as well. I have always said this is the best adaptation of the Christmas Carol.

It’s one of the most heartfelt adaptations, but the Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey that came out awhile back is by far the most accurate to the book - it’s so tragic and creepy. Muppets & Jim Carrey are tops on my list every year

The thing I love most about this film (and I love the film so much) is that it put so much detail, so much ~historical~ detail into the costuming, including things that would literally never be seen by the average viewer.

Every year. Every single year. My gf and I watch this together at least once, but usually more than once because we own it on multiple formats. Michael Caine is amazing in it and I totally appreciate the way he played it because; and I know how pretentious it may sound but, Shakespeare is one of my favorites and I never really cared for theater until I saw Hamlet performed in real life. Now I have a deep love and appreciation for all kinds of theater and performances.

What a lovely, personal, yet shared, perspective of this beautiful film. I remember first watching this film in the cinema, and half a year later (ah the days of VHS) I got a copy on a cassette tape and proceeded to play it over and over again. When it came out on DVD I was heart broken to see what 'When love is gone' removed, but I'm so glad to see it having been put back even if it's through options on Disney+. This truly is one of the best Christmas films, and one of the best Muppet movies. There is so much heart, it's just so visible and you can feel it in every frame. This is one of my yearly re-watches without fail, and sometimes it doesn't even need to be Christmas for me to put it on. Wonderful work!

These videos give me a whole new perspective on each show and movie you cover and allow me to see new subtle things I wouldnt have seen before. I would have never noticed the height difference being subtle way of conveying authority. the muppets as a whole is an amazing media empire. YOu literally cant go wrong. Jim henson made something magical from the first show and first movie, his kids and complany have continued that legacy. i would give them a second shot it might surprise you

The songs were done by long time Henson collaborator and award winning song writer Paul Williams. He wrote Rainbow Connection from The Muppet Movie as well as 5 #1 Billboard hits, 3 of which were for the Carpenters. The man is a powerhouse and his BEST work, IMHO, is The Muppet Christmas Carol.

"No this is culture" that's right there is the exchange for me which sells why this movie works so damn well. And I unabashedly love this version of A Christmas Carol( there's two others that I also frequently rewatch at this time of the year. Huh funilly enough all three versions of that I love of this original story are all owned by Disney, and I mean the Dickens classic not twists on it like that one with Matthew McConaughey or Scrooged starring Bill Murray)

Robin wasn't created for this film... I recall Robin distinctly from well prior to this. EDIT (after a little research) Yes, that is Robin, and Robin has been around since 1971. Otherwise I agree with this assertion of The Muppet Christmas Carol as the Best Christmas Movie Ever Made and best adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

I love this movie and I agree with your for me it's the adaptation of Christmas Carol with the most "Spirit" to it. I even made this cover of "It feels like Christmas" and cannot even believe it's been 30 years since. Sure the ghost of the xmas past description is different, but this floating ghostly girl haunted my childhood and imprinted there. This movie is my favorite, I can’t even wait till December to watch it sometimes. But, I don’t like their version of Belle. They should have told her not to smile while singing that she’s going to leave him all alone. On Christmas. My husband and I tend to skip it. Otherwise it’s perfect.

She's smiling at the memories of the love they once shared. It's in the way she's looking to the horizon, the future beckons. True, Christmas isn't the best time to be dumped but it's necessary for the story. Despite being a musical number its the most accurate breakup scene I know of. Anyway, not trying to say you're wrong, just how I see it.
