I never had a cat in my life! Always a dog occupied our house. My partner and I were arguing in 2011 about adopting a rescue and it came down to a kitty. I was so nervous when I held her, but it’s been unconditional love for 11 years! Lili is my baby and best friend. She’s my love and is so spoiled that anything she wants she gets! Lili has brought her papa and dada closer. We have a beautiful daughter and she brings us so much joy and love we would be lost without her. I pray to God that he gives us many more years with her ❤

Karen could've sensed his distress as well. I have a bunch of cats and there's one that's the most aloof of the bunch and she doesn't cuddle. One day, I was super sick and when my family went out for dinner, I had to rest at home alone. My cat then got into bed with me, laid herself across my outstretched arm next to my head and started purring and licking my head. I was STUNNED! She's never shown that level of behaviour before even to my sister who's her favourite. It was only until my family came back after a few hours that she hopped off the bed and if I didn't take any pictures, my family wouldn't have believed me 😂 Cats really are sensitive that way and it's nice to see this guy experience that.

A stray cat came into my yard and insisted on adopting me 7 years ago. And yes, I had an allergy to the little guy too but that left me after awhile; I think my love for Garfield just forced my body to adapt. I couldn't imagine my life without my best friend now.

I've seen Karen 's story before. She is adorable. I was wincing in the first part of the video though; he was treating Karen all wrong - you let cats come to you, you let them sniff you. If a stranger did that to my 🐱, the stranger would have scratches all over him. Karen truly is a lovely cat.

As a cat person I have observed my cats, they can sense if a person is allergic to them. I had a cat who could spot an allergic person hundreds of feet away and target them. This cat would be extremely lovey to them, unlike she would with non allergic people. A person should consider themself blessed to be loved by a cat.

My nephew stayed all night, when he got up in the morning his eyes were swollen shut. My sister in law took him to the doctor. The doctor told her and him he needed more exposure, he’d get over it. you don't need allergy meds. just don't put your hands near your eyes after you pat her. I have 2 cats and am allergic to their fur & scratches. i wash my hands off after handling them and if I get their fur in my eyes I wash them out with water very well (use a face cloth). if I get scratched I wash it with soap and water. you build up some resistance after being around them for a while. she is very cute ! 😍

He put his face right in her fur, so got a good dose of cat dander! Many including me get rxn if u get too close.

This sounds similar to my cat. My cat is an absolute lover. He wants to give everyone love, and get everyone’s love in return. However, my brother’s friend’s mother is allergic. I swear, every time she comes over, even if she just comes in for a few minutes, he looks like someone just stole his scratching post, and dumped his food in the trash. Absolute betrayal.

I see Karen has her left ear clipped, which is a sign she was once an outdoor kitty, possibly a stray or part of a community cat colony. So she was spayed and got her shots and a microchip as part of a trap-neuter-release program for outdoor kitties. But lucky Karen to find a safe forever home with Mackenzie! No wonder she's a sweet appreciative lady😺. Parham did great, and he learned on the job for sure. No wonder he loves Karen, she's a doll!♥️😇

I’ve noticed that people who aren’t really used to gets end up becoming allergic but after lots of exposure they become immune unless it’s a serious allergy :)

Parkham is absolutely hilarious and adorable. You can tell he's not at all a cat person. He kept trying to pick her up when she clearly wanted to be left alone. Cats tell you when they want affection, not the other way around. One of the many ways they differ from cats. lol

It’s funny what a range of personalities cats can have. Our first cat was totally ambivalent about people. If someone came to pet sit they wouldn’t even know she was there. Our second had to be the center of attention all the time. She had to try every lap and you ignored her at your peril. Our current cat isn’t much of a lap cat but she likes to chill wherever you’re at and she loves meeting new people. She’s also the only ankle-rubber that we’ve had.

That was such a funny story. It had me laughing. Cats love people that are not cat people. My cat loved none cat people. Won't leave them alone. It's great!

Cats are usually more cautious with people for a good reason. Don’t rub your eyes after touching any animal. Wash well before touching your face. Just like touching dust, dirt, plants... glad you became friends. 🤗💕🐈

Yeah, someone needs to tell him that how you meet a dog (petting right away, picking up and holding, belly rubs) are the exact opposite of a cat. You let them come inspect you, get their scent all over you, and let them come up for you to pet until they decide they like you and become purring cuddle bugs. Both animals are great, just with two different social protocols.

You are perfect for a cat. You want to stay as far away from them as possible. That’s exactly what Cats prefer. Fill the bowls, field the toys, fluff the bed, clean out the crapper, you’re done for the day. Meow.

That is a VERY well socialized, very patient cat. Excellent for a first timer like Parham. I have a friend that's allergic, too... I keep benedryl around so when he visits, he takes one right away and then my cats would happily crawl all over him.

There's ways around most cat allergies. He did well & Karen was patient enough to let him learn how to pet & hold her. My brothers allergies are worse but we learned he's fine if we reduce the fur in the air and he doesn't literally rub his face in their fur (which is cute but not when he suddenly has trouble breathing). So we just air out the house once a day, pet the cats slowly so their fur doesn't fly, be careful not to move linens in ways that can fling cat hair or flop on the couch (which is better for the couch anyway). Also, do not vacuum before a visit unless you can air out the house too, because the exhaust port will kick up dust & cat dander. If you have to vacuum while they are present, have them do something outside like phone games or read the paper comics until 20 minutes after vacuuming and airing the house. He hasn't had any breathing issues or red eyes since we implemented this on his visits, but we keep antihistamines as a safety precaution.

Finally! An Internet Karen to love!

I wish someone had told him - don't pick her up, let her come to you first - it has to be on Baby Karen's terms. It's a different type of petting than with dogs- stroking head to tail, not ruffling in one area. And only those experts in the cat's particular personality should ever attempt "baby cuddling"! And don't make eye contact without a slow blink! I too, never understood the appeal of cats, until 5years ago (how much of my life I had wasted before) and we were chosen by 2, now I am a full time cat obsessed butler.

Karen is so sweet! She has become fond of him instantly. My cat has been around with me for more than a year now but he only comes near to me when he is hungry 😆

Yeh that was a massive breakthrough, and for the most part they appreciate it when they feel you've made an effort with them. Also people tend to assume cats are indifferent generally but ironically their walking away is a part of their seductive ways, walking away can sometimes mean you've to follow them and or follow to their lead! It makes me laugh when they have been naughty and run off a bit & start grooming them self like it's urgent & might risk glancing in your direction to see if it's worked or not! "I dunno what you're on about!! It wasn't me!" It's their gangster ways, pretending indifference in the face of the fact they know you saw them, the, deny, deny, deny rule! I'm sorry for your allergy, I found out after 16 years, I was allergic to my cat as well, it was heartbreaking!
