I was taking a nap then woke up briefly to check social media and i saw it but still didn’t believe it and as i keep scrolling down it is the same news that i jumped and fell out of my bed in shock. I am not a Kobe fan but my reaction says a lot that he is truly great whether you like him or not and the way he approached the game is just pure respect.

I was at an indoor sports complex for my young son's peewee football game. My brother came to watch and he literally ran across the field of play to tell me the news. So of course, I started telling coaches and other parents. Soon, word spread and the young kids were un-phased but every adult sports fan there were sickened and the electricity in the building fell silent until we all left. We live in a fast-paced world and sometimes on bad weather days need to question if getting somewhere a couple hours early is really worth it. Especially when that fog lifted less than 90 mins later.

I don't remember where I was exactly or who told me. I do remember being completely shocked about it though. I tried to watch the footage as soon as I could. Digital age is much different than the old age. I remember where I was on every event including 9/11 & before.

The day this happened I was at McDonald's in Ypsilanti, MI. At the time, Emoni Bates was the top high school prospect in the nation, being slated as the next Kobe. I saw him there, told him we were all pulling for him. I went home and saw the news. Crazy.

I was in Kobe, Japan when I found out. I had been thinking of him all week because he was named after the city. I was still on west coast time so I was up at 4am Japan time and saw the TMZ alert, and no other news reporting it. I thought it must be fake.

I still remember being in the parking lot of taco bell with my roommate in Nebraska and watching a something live on youtuve while everyone in the comments started saying RIP Mamba, couldn't believe what happened for next 30 minutes. I was actually watching a 15 or so minute video of Kobe Bryant highlights right before leaving my house, when the video was over I left. I had about a 20 minute drive. When I got to my destination, I pulled up social media and found out. The way this chain of events went down and the time in which the helicopter crashed, I'm about 99% certain I was watching his highlights the moment it happened. As a Rockets fan growing up and getting beat by him, I hated Kobe. Once he retired I changed my mind. When he died, it hit me very hard. He's now the wallpaper on my PC. RIP Kobe

And things that are weird are thought provoking for people that like to use their brains thinking about what could or couldn't be. Basic critical thought really. Generally speaking, just taking peoples word for it is downright gullible as it pertains to any topic. There was a video on UKposts not too long after the event that essentially was the recording of the entire inflight audio. The pilot reported no issues and broke communication a few minutes before the event, which is very unusual, as a result to this day nobody knows exactly what went wrong. Wouldn't you think he would at least have communicated no visibility? .. Or maybe even turned around if he couldn't see where he was going? What kind of a helicopter pilot just flies blind carrying a very famous internationally beloved man and his daughter onboard? Might powerful people have attempted compelling him to promote something connected to something they were about to do? Might he have refused? Do we know anything about the pilot, other than that he was a pilot?... His wife seems to think the entire story isn't getting told. Seems only right to be at least a little bit scrutinous for her. He made a lot of money from companies strongly connected to that country and as such they might have felt like he owed them. But anyway, We literally won't be allowed to have the conversation in the comments section here. You don't have to save the world to be a legend. There are legends in politics, sports, acting, writing, art, sculpture. Is Da Vinci a legend for dabbing paint on a canvas? Yes he is. And, yes Kobe was a legend for his athleticism that included his ability to put a ball through a hoop with an higher than average dependability. Legend is a broad term that shows no bias when it comes to what one excels at.

The helicopter was operating perfectly. The pilot was trained and rated to fly by instrumentation with zero visibility, as all pilots are, but he failed his job horribly. Perhaps he had a sudden health emergency that caused him to lose the ability to fly? Beyond that scenario only arrogant incompetence remains. If he was unsure about encroaching vertical terrain, or his orientation, he should have ceased forward movement, leveled off, and ascend over the weather. I suspect he was more concerned with making good time as fast travel over LA traffic was literally the service being provided. We will never know what actually happened. So sad and infuriating.

Tiger found out about Kobe’s death on like the 15th hole but didn’t give hoot, but just to make it look good he instructed the cameraman to follow him and his caddie as they walked off the 18th green and just barely pick up what his caddie said to him and also pick up Tiger’s reaction that just happened to be a little louder. I assume he also instructed a boom mic operator to follow him off camera so his slightly louder response could be picked up. Get real.

You could tell that Tiger Woods did not know Kobe like that and that the reaction in the form of a statement, that he has to make being a fellow high-profile professional sports player, shows that the impact is not as flooring as compared to fellow NBA players that Kobe played with
