This is awesome. I’d love to see a Tiny Home Village for seniors who need support but who aren’t quite ready for (or able to afford) a traditional assisted living facility.

Will you do both, pray and take action? You could petition your local gov to make transitional homes for the homeless in your county. How about encourage people with the time and know-how to set up a support system, such as linking stores and charities to the 'village'. Example: a grocery store can donate expired - but good - food on a regular basis. Others can donate clothing and haircuts to help the homeless prepare for job interviews. Note: some grocery stores already donate expired food to local food banks through the program Feeding America. If your don't, you might at least email their corp headquarters to encourage they do so!

Vancouver, BC the homeless problem is almost above 80% drug, alcohol, and lifestyle related (i.e. really bad work habits) but in LA as a contrast, only 15% are drug related, and LA has lots of homeless FAMILIES. Canada pretty much across the provinces moves quickly if there is family or female involved. WE men, esp. First Nations and white, are basically on our own, and I'm all right with that. New arrivals also are kicked to the top of the roles. I'm NOT necessarily all right with that, but I dont' make policy. It's just the beginning. 40 houses. There are millions of people homeless in the richest country. It's ashame every project to house homeless or help them you have to jump threw hoops. There is not enough low cost housing any where in United States and until that gets fix there is going to increase the numbers of homeless. I got tired of working my butt off just to sleep. That's all I did because I was never home working all the time. I had to work 60- plus hours a week just to afford rent and utilities. $900.00 for studio making $9.00 a hour. When I got done paying bills had $30 for food for the month. I let my lease go converted a van and off the hamster wheel. So my negative became a plus in savings. Will never pay rent or utilities again.

I worked my butt off as well. I lived during the time when women made much less than men. I worked 2 and 3 jobs to raise my son. I got no assistance. My exhusband quit a good paying job to evade paying child support. I kid you not. A measley 150 a month hardly paid lunch money for my son. Now I am drawing a really pitiful amount in Social Security. If not for my husband I would be homeless too and have no health insurance at all. My Son and both parents passed and I don't have other family I could live with. The last place I would want to be is in a Nursing Home. We just never know how life will deal us a hand of cards. In short it is all about political corruption and the inability of people who cannot do simple arithmetic. They spent 2 million dollars on 14 units that have no running water of any kind. You can get a very brief glimpse of how tiny they are if you freeze frame the video at 00:47 to 00:48 These units can barely fit a bed 00:52 . The occupants must use a community shower, toilet and kitchen 00:34 To make matters worse the land it sits on was not purchased but was leased thus furthering the ongoing cost of maintenance well beyond the 2 million to build. Pure political boondoggle at the taxpayer's expense. But worse of all is the number of commenters supporting this. They obviously can't do simple math.

Tiny Home villages are popping up everywhere. They've been very helpful in transitioning homeless people to mainstream society. There's a Tiny Home Village in Wisconsin that is doing wonders for homeless people. They have a community building where they can learn job skills, receive business clothing for job interviews, get their GED and apply to college or trade schools. They have community laundry facilities and restroom/showers as well as a community kitchen and rec area. As long as they stay clean and sober and are actively seeking or are employed, they can stay until they are in a position to afford their own living space. Shelters are okay but not a great solution. This gives them a permanent pathway to a life they can be proud of. They also have a community store that people who make crafts can sell what they make and work to earn money. I applaud these facilities because as the saying goes, "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime."

What you DON'T want is a "mixed" community. Seniors in BC have been getting rehab and druggies being put into their housing areas and the result is muggings, theft, and being on "meds" the crack and meth heads are not "responsible" for their actions. And comparatively, we have it pretty good so far in Canada, but you have to manage it.

First, they gotta want to help themselves. Rehabilitation is a pipe dream for most. You’re mostly talking about just sustaining life and the provisions of food, clothing , and shelter. And who pays for it? It’s really the local churches in these communities that should be doing it, not the government. The Bible clearly states we should be taking care of widows, orphans, and the poor. Instead we are spending the offerings on elaborate palaces of worship instead of investing in what the Bible instructs us to do. Huge new church buildings are sexy, doing the Lord’s work isn’t. So we continue....
