This is awesome. I’d love to see a Tiny Home Village for seniors who need support but who aren’t quite ready for (or able to afford) a traditional assisted living facility.

They should do this for domestic violence victims also that needs to get a fresh start. It's such a great idea.

I’ve always wanted to do something like this, only on a much larger scale, involving old apartment buildings that are still structurally sound, but have been abandoned. However... I’m not a millionaire. Just a small town girl with big dreams to help others.

I would build these for Homeless Veterans. Some built for disabled veterans too. Each one with all facilities needed. No shared kitchen or bathroom. Each with privacy for each individual.

Years of planning!?! This is why we have homeless. In other countries these would be up and perfectly serviceable in a month.

Why can't this be all around the world this is nothing but a blessing. This is something that will clean up our streets

I believe that each and every city in the world should follow your example. People should never be left out on the streets unless they want to be there. Being homeless is a very scary and emotionally devastating place to be. Well done!

I'd certainly like to see these for senior citizens. They're millions of us without kids and grandkids and we come without baggage...It would be a nice alternative to the current "Institutonal" Senior Apartment complexes offered us.

I live in California and noticed newly built 4 story apartments listed as affordable so I called and the receptionist told me "oh yes they're 1100.00 for a one bedroom " I guess California has a new definition for affordable....

If only I had a place like this to go after I had no other choice but to bail from an abusive relationship, I just needed some time to get peace in my head so I could figure things out and move forward. Some people just need a minute! 😁

This is cute, and a great idea for homelessness. In Seattle, instead, tents and wrecks and taking over the city. How smart Albuquerque, and they built something cute instead of ugly buildings with a 2x2 apodments

A novel way to address a basic needs among the financially distressed people, not only locally but in most countries.

After doing my psych rotation in nursing school, I realized that a good chunk of the homeless suffer from psychiatric disorders and many refuse treatment, unless they are a threat to themselves or others, they can’t be forced to take meds, they have rights and a lot of our psych facilities that used to house them long term in previous years no longer exist, mix that into the homeless drug addicts, you only have a small group of people who truly want to get off the streets and get a job and a place to stay, the rest are what I call street people

I think it's very important to follow the residents and actively help them if they have health or mental issues that caused their homelessness in the first place, and not just turn the place into a parking lot for people with problems. Good luck!

Oh, this is so good, it is one of my dreams, to participate in such a project. Unfortunately here in Hungary the government spends our tax money rather on stadiums, instead of hospitals and instead of integrating homeless people back into the society.

If Everyone had this kind of Humanitarianism ,The World would be So Much Nicer .

It's just the beginning. 40 houses. There are millions of people homeless in the richest country. It's ashame every project to house homeless or help them you have to jump threw hoops. There is not enough low cost housing any where in United States and until that gets fix there is going to increase the numbers of homeless. I got tired of working my butt off just to sleep. That's all I did because I was never home working all the time. I had to work 60- plus hours a week just to afford rent and utilities. $900.00 for studio making $9.00 a hour. When I got done paying bills had $30 for food for the month. I let my lease go converted a van and off the hamster wheel. So my negative became a plus in savings. Will never pay rent or utilities again.

THESE NEED TO BE FED FUNDED AND ALL OVER THE COUNTRY...AS A COUNTRY WE CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM NO?

"They expect the village to be full by June." ..... JUNE? WHAT is the hold up? People are suffering & freezing to DEATH!

Enforcing rules will be difficult and in 5 years this place won't be so pretty. Police will constantly have to monitor suspicious activity here - missing children, noise, drugs, hoarding, domestic-violence, robbery, etc.

Praise God, we need more housing like this everywhere!

I wish I can even have small one like that I'm tried paying rent and I'm single mum of 3 I'm the dad at the same time mum to be honest tried fro paying rent as I work in Lebanon as a nanny the small amount I get I have to send for family support in kenya I love really from 🇰🇪🇰🇪

I wanted to build something like this in my backyard, but just one unit a homeless person could live in comfort. The city wouldn't let me do it.

Ironic that the city had to lease the land off the very people who were corralled in the first place.

Do an update, we want to see interviews with the 40 people who get to live there.

Hopefully they screen out all the Methheads and Offenders and keep it clean. KRQE needs to follow up on this every few months to see if its working. Seems like a great idea.

We have tiny homes for homeless vets, here in KCMO, and have had for awhile! I think they were some of the first to do so, so of course, we made a contribution. It is working quite well, some have already moved on to their new jobs, and their own apartments, so this is wonderful to see even more tiny homes, in other cities! We have to take care of vets, and seniors, it is our duty as Christians! Bless them all!

'Transitional' means that you are moving from nothing to something... better. Without a place to begin your transition, you will continue to get nowhere; these are perfect for the purpose for which they were intended,- not necessarily a permanent solution, but a place to work from. If there is ever going to be a real answer to 'homelessness' and the problems that it engenders, there must be a 'real' solution, and this looks pretty real to me.

This is wonderful. I’m a disabled veteran, and I’ve been homeless. It was very traumatizing to my mental health. I’m not sure I have recovered from it,yet. There should be thousands of these communities. There’s no excuse for there not to be. We send billions to other countries, but don’t care of our own.

$2 Million and you only get a dozen boxes with a mattress inside? RVs would have offered more and been cheaper.

I love the tiny house movement, my dream is to own and live in one, mite be nice to give them a little space between each house, for a little grass, and pot with plants, and many homeless have pets. It wouldn't have to be a very big area,.

We have a similar complex in Austin and it has done very well "Community 1st".

These are attractive and more likely to be welcomed in more neighborhoods, though it needs trees for temperature modulation. A tour of the interior would have been nice.

They are practically right on top of each other! This looks like an encampment for us "peasants", but with the illusion of independent living. No thanks, I will pass and live in the woods and have nature and the wildlife as my neighbors.

My family and I live near Portland, OR. I have Ehlers Danlos and was a live-in caregiver to someone who was wheelchair bound. When my disability rendered me unable to keep caring for my patient, we lost our home and were homeless for 9 months, most of which was during the pandemic. If this were here, it would immediately begin making real lives possible for everyone here.

These are great for certain circumstances, but we need tiny homes with plumbing, bathrooms and kitchens.

Tiny Home villages are popping up everywhere. They've been very helpful in transitioning homeless people to mainstream society. There's a Tiny Home Village in Wisconsin that is doing wonders for homeless people. They have a community building where they can learn job skills, receive business clothing for job interviews, get their GED and apply to college or trade schools. They have community laundry facilities and restroom/showers as well as a community kitchen and rec area. As long as they stay clean and sober and are actively seeking or are employed, they can stay until they are in a position to afford their own living space. Shelters are okay but not a great solution. This gives them a permanent pathway to a life they can be proud of. They also have a community store that people who make crafts can sell what they make and work to earn money. I applaud these facilities because as the saying goes, "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime."

The homes have steps. It should be wheelchair accessable as well.

Give us an update in a year or so, make sure you include the police reports and such!
