The pants life-vest thing actually does work, they taught us how to do this in basic, but that video didn't explain it well. You're not just beating the water, it's more of a scooping motion because you're scooping air into the pants. It failed here because 1) the original video didn't explain the scooping motion properly to begin with, and 2) the kiddie pool isn't deep enough. But it 100% does work if done right.

And the fact that you were soggy the whole time was hilarious. I think this is definitely the best trying five minute craft videos you’ve ever done. 6:24 *Full-time four-eyes here.* You want a good anti-fog treatment that isn’t fuckin dumb? Get some soap-hand soap, body wash, dish soap, whatever-rub it on the lenses of your goggles/glasses, and then wipe them with a DRY towel/cloth/napkin with no liquid on it, and wham, you got glasses/goggles that don’t get foggy.

The pants life preserver really does work. I learned how to do it in lifeguard training back in high school. Except we were taught to capture air by flinging the pants opening over our heads and down into the water(Like when you submerge a cup upside down and catch an air bubble). Also, we were in a 12 ft (3.6ish meters) deep pool. You do a great job with the videos Kris!

Former lifeguard here. The pants survival method does work (even in that kiddy pool). The idea is to scoop air in by holding the waistband with both your hands on the surface side of the pants and over the surface of the water scoop down towards your feet until full, never letting go of waist band. Then just hold the opening tightly down when full with a grip with at least one of your hands. The legs act as a makeshift life preserver around your neck. Fun fact for the dumb craft. 😅

By the time someone actually ties a double knot in the pants, the drowning person will already have drowned. Kevin peeking around the corner when she was stabbing the flipflop with a knife was both hilarious and adorable. "Uh, mom? You okay? Why are you stabbing the flipflop with a knife?" The pants thing is actually true, when taking lifeguard training we were taught that if we were having difficulty swimming in any situation to use our clothes. You have to take them off, they'll either be wet or make them wetter because when the cloth is wet the threads get bigger and don't release air, then you catch air bubbles in them. For example, if you cup your hand you'll probably get an air bubble in it if you submerge it facing down. It sort of makes a life jacket.

With the 2nd hack, Kevin walked away from the camera like "I don't want to be associated with this, thanks Mum." 😂❤️

I HATE flicking my nails. I almost cry every time. Hurts so gotdang much. I will admit the "hack" for the goggles was told to me multiple times at dive shops and by dive instructors. The lighter takes the plastic film off the glass goggles and the toothpaste is a very good defog, you can also put baby shampoo in before using them as a good defog. Most dive boats I go on do that. But spitting in them also works surprisingly well too if you don't have that stuff. (I am a certified scuba diver but others my have different opinions about it. this is just things I've done/been told)

Thank you for your lovely compliments Kris- and as a diver myself, an easier way then burning it and using toothpaste is to spit in them, wipe it around, dunk it and wash it out in water, and try to not breathe through your nose- it really does depend on different goggle styles, but it's a solid trick for if you forgot the spray on stuff :>

The goggles "craft", yeah, I'd call that more of a life hack. And that is a good life hack for snorkelers and scuba divers. I am a certified scuba diver(been a few years since I last went, so prolly need a refresher course) and they make anti-fog gel for goggles. My instructor told us that if we were ever tight and couldn't buy the gel that toothpaste would work. It's not quite as good as the gel but it works great for a much cheaper option. From what I remember, you don't need the lighter. Just rub the toothpaste around like you did and swish it in water to remove the excess. Then when it's all clear, you're good to go.
