Watching this VERY late but for anyone curious as to why basically everyone in New Orleans had and still to this day has an axe available: The axes are normally kept so, when there is a flood or storm, they can bring it to the attic with them and bust through their roof if the waters get too high. i know the term is thrown around a lot as a joke but that scene in the new orleans voodoo episode where it juxtaposes between ryan fully thrusting himself into it all and shane talking about how he wishes he could do the same, that was genuine poetic cinema

an interesting point i've heard about the jonbenet ramsey case is that it's actually fairly logical of the murderer (assuming it's none of the ramsey family) to have written the ransom note inside the house incase someone caught them while breaking in, as that would allow them to get away with a way lighter sentence than if they were found with a ransom note on them

My favorite “shared delusion” story was when three girls in my major all lives together and one of the girls would hallucinate. She talked about this woman she would see so much that the other girls saw the woman too - the major professors had to make them not live together anymore.

These marathons are perfect for my work shifts, I usually listen to music but instead of 100+ songs (some of which play repeatedly which is annoying since I'm supposed have have 2 days worth of music in my playlist but for some reason it plays the same songs over and over again) it's nice to make it through 2 or 3 videos instead

Some lesser known facts I learned about the Lizzie Borden case I learned after taking the tour at the house. -A doctor in the town had prescribed Lizzie with large doses of morphine to combat hysteria. This could explain some of the inconsistencies in her answers. -Lizzie claimed to be eating pears in the barn but no pear cores were found. -Not only did the family eat a largely mutton diet but it was often rancid as Mr.Borden refused to buy meat often enough. So these weren't really good ol mutton days. The rancid meat often made them sick and at the time of the murders Maggie/Bridget was sick. -The jury was very biased as it took only a short time to deliberate and spent more time eating lunch. The jury also took a photograph of themselves and gifted it to Lizzie. -The Bordens called the maid Maggie because the last maid was named Maggie and they didn't care enough to learn her name. -The area in which they know lived is known for having good scholarships as Lizzie became quite the philanthropist. She also donated to provide poor families with meals. An animal hospital in the area even has her picture hung because she was such a frequent donor.

My grandmother went on a cruise in the Bermuda triangle, she's still alive. She said nothing really happened. I'm not too sure the Bermuda triangle is haunted and what not, but I do know that there is so much stuff in the ocean we still haven't discovered, we've only discovered less than 10% of the ocean. Which is pretty scary in itself

A few things about the Natalie Wood episode: 1 - Thomas Noguchi was a notoriously terrible coroner. He was also the coroner for the Manson murders and he is terrible with his job. Not detail oriented and very sloppy. 2 - Gypsy was a movie about the life of Gypsy Rose Lee and Gypsy was a technical consultant on the movie. It's actually good and way better than the Midler version. 3 - Hart to Hart wasn't a bad series. I used to watch it back in the day. I also remember the rumors about an affair between Wagner and Powers even back then. 4 - I don't see a woman who is afraid of water wandering a boat at night alone, let alone going near the water to tie up a boat. She would have had someone else do that. Shady story and a sad end for a talented lady.

I’m incredibly disturbed by how many sickos lived near the Ramsays at the time of Jon-Benet’s death. Not only was there one guy caught with CP, but there was also another guy caught with it. WTF! I keep finding out new details about this case which makes me think it’s a different person each time. After I learned how bad her head injury was, I think it was a an intruder. Considering that weirdo knew the grandma’s nickname, I could see him writing the ransom note and knowing how much the dad’s bonus was too. He just stands out more than the rest.

About JonBenet: I found it very odd from the very beginning that the police never sealed off the house. I mean, MAYBE they'd have an excuse if it was in the 1950s, but this took place in the 1990s. This case was probably very solvable if someone hadn't screwed up

I had a criminal justice teacher in college bring up Jonbenet. He was part of the Boulder Police Department during that time. He repeatedly refused to tell us who the suspect was but said "As far as law enforcement goes, anyone close to the case all agrees on the primary suspect. We all know who did it." The fact that so many weird people were involved shows how cruel and weird this world can be.
