I used to have a 1971 bus. It was an Arizona vehicle with 0 rust in 1991. I had to sell it as I had orders to RAF Bentwaters U.K. I miss that bus to this date and will forever. It was a unique bus as it had factory air and the gasoline heater. We sold it to my friend's daughter who promptly overheated the thing and blew up the motor. Needless to say I was pissed. I told the girl to run it like it was 3 RPM's away from destruction. I even took her out and drove her around and explained it was AIR COOLED. Alas. Anyhow, what a wonderful little camper. This brings back the best memories! Uncle Bill had one and every year Christmas morning right after we opened presents he would pile us teens, the dogs and dad for a drive to the local beach so our mums could get some quiet and start on Christmas lunch in peace. We would pile our coats and boots over pyjamas and run around. I can still remember the sting of the ice needles on our faces and the thermos of hot cocoa for the ride back home.

The T2 vans are a lot of fun, but here in Canada they are all in poor shape and unbelievably expensive. Oscar, with the conversion top, etc., would be around $80,000 here in Ottawa, just too much for what it really is compared with a fine used Class B motorhome that can comfortably get up the hills without incident.

Grandma here (not yours but you can apply) I live in a Campervan in the US. I chose a Ford. I'm very familiar with the VW camper van. I once had a 65. Never again. Too many mechanical issues, incessantly. Best of luck darlings.

Great find! Dear God your going to need all the help you can get w/this dinosaur. You should check out the UKposts channel called Kombi Life. The guys name is Ben & he lives in Jersey Island in the UK. Very nice young man. He has built 3 of them, one twice bc their solar caught on fire & burned it up. Then one he & his gf @ the time built one from the buttom up. Very informative if you own one of these VW's. Hope you got a manual for that engine, BC your going to need it, just saying, but let's hope you don't. Righttttt? Looking forward to all your new adventures to come Mr. & Mrs. H.
