I am not muslim but growing up we would hear stories of people making deals with "jinis" as we call them here in kenya and these deals would always end in death... there's even a haunted house in the neighbourhood (within nairobi) of someone who died for making such a deal. Anyone who tried demolishing the house ended up dead as well. Scary stuff. In mombasa a city in kenya, such stories go deep (they had alot of intaraction with arabs traders in the past)

In Pakistan we have heard so many stories of Jinns and how to avoid them. Jinns are said to be prevalent in Sweet shops (Mithai shops) and Milk shops. I was also taught to always throw out bones from food like chicken etc because they are one of the favourite foods of Jinns. I have also heard and keep hearing to not stand under a tree at the time of maghrib because of non believing mischevious Jinns. One more thing I can remember is to stand in corridors and hallways during maghrib prayer time as Jinns also use them and sometimes they get angry that someone is standing in the way and they hit them. There are many more stories that everyone hears all the time

There's this famous story my mom keeps telling about a group of women in Kuwait who's job is to bang on drums, not sure what the right term is, but one day these women were invited by a family to make some noise in their wedding, the women ofcourse accepted the offer and went there, they noticed that the groom and the bride wore different kind of clothing, it was colorful and very out of this world but the women didn't care about it and thought this was a tradition, and things got weirder as they celebrated for hours past midnight when the family started hopping as they were dancing, and what they saw was not feet but hoofs, the women quickly fled out of the house in a frightening way as an old man approached them outside and asked them "what are you doing inside that ruined house" the women turned around and noticed the house was abandoned long ago, the old man told them about the jinn that lived there and how they were causing a lot of noise. Sorry for the bad vocabulary, I hope I made the story clear.

Years ago when I was teaching in Saudi Arabia, a friend and I drove deep into the desert. The full moon enchanted us to get lost in an ancient riverbed. Hours later, we finally spotted our car. A group of bedouins were circling our campfire. We shouted "salam aleikum" three times, but nobody answered. Feeling uneasy, we got closer. The men turned into rocks and bushes...a desert mirage! Later, my Saudi students mooted it was no mirage; we probably had met a band of afreet or jinns, and my boys weren't joking.

Before humans come to existence, Muslims believed Jinns overruled the earth, they even have their own saints and prophets, but due to the majority of them being cruel and savage and refuse to be in the right path, they were banished and Adam and Eve were created. Even though they're incorporeal, they acknowledged the existence of humans, some of the pious ones were eager to follow the teaching that has been given to humans. Even prophet that created a religion would have Jinns followers. Some of them are as so old and others were young, the young ones were usually not entitled to the truth directly so they sought humans for truth. Judaism, Catholicism, Islam, etc? Yes. As a Muslim, I myself is a bit skeptical of Jinn but I do believe on the 'unseen' as I call them. I can't "see" them but I have always been more sensitive. As I said, I'm still bit skeptical. So when someone years ago (back when I was a college student) told me if my mother is a devout Muslim, I was surprised. I said yes. I never told this person abt my mother. We were barely friends. He said my mother is safe, that she's "guarded" by a Muslim Jinn which take form as a white tiger. I still couldn't believe this claim but that person somehow knew my mother always did Tahajud (a prayer done at midnight). And he said the Muslim Jinn loved to be by her side as she pray. My mother did mention that whenever she did Tahajud, she always smells of Jasmine. My other friend who can "see" spirits always told me. Smells can also identify what kind of spirit you deal with. The evil ones usually smell like burnt wood or trash or smth rotten while the good ones smell nice like flowers.. my brain told me to believe it but the other half of my brain says no. 😂

there is no recorded in Islamic traditions about Christians Jinn or Jewish Jinn. In Islam only divided in 2 type of Jinn, Muslim Jinn and Non Muslim Jinn. Why only have term "muslim"? Because Muslim means "someone who submitted to only one God (Allah)". There is no Jewish Jinn because they are not Jewish but there is jewish myth that talking about shedim (jinn) become Jewish because some of the shedim are believed to be followers of the law of Moses and consequently good. Christian Jinn? I don't know but if they are exist then they are part of Non Muslim Jinn. I believe china folk religion worship a jinn (spirit) even Hindus because Hindu worship all of things include spirit. Then it will became conclusion Jinn or Spirit is not only in Middle East but worldwide.

Iblees was not a fallen angel. Angels have no free will. However, he was in the company of the angels, and had high rank. But Allah knew the pride he was hiding inside his heart and exposed it, by ordering him to bow down to Adam. I think some people think this because in the Qur'an, when it mentions the story, the grammar seems to imply that Iblees is an angel, being part of the group which constitutes angels.

There's another interesting category of Jinn called "Qarin". I'm not sure whether it is a widely accepted concept in other islamic cultures, but it is said that Qarin is a type of Jinn that's accompanying men since birth until the time of their death (quite a similar concept with Daemons in greek mythology). In Islam, It is believed that human soul resides in another realm after death in the spirit world and not wandering around as ghosts. Hence many islamic scholars/spiritual teachers here leaning towards the theory that the presumed dead spirits/ghosts are the Qarins that took the shape of their human counterparts instead of the human spirit themselves.

When u get sad or very angry u basically forcing these emotions on ur qarin, but it doesn't like so it might make itself noticeable by pinching u in sleep, to give a sign to stop being sad, mad, angry or whatever bad emotion u feeling. 12:52 I don't think that the reason why the prophet asked his companions to avoid that place is because it was inhabited by Djins. First of all, neither the prophets nor his companions were afraid of Djins. The reason is because those places were inhabited by people who disobeyed God and disbelieved their prophet "Saleh", so God sent his wrath upon them. That is why the only time when they had to go through it, the prophet asked his companions to go in a state of fear and submission to God even and seek refuge from Him as His wrath is still upon places like those.

So we have lots of different “Cin” storties where I am from(Turkey). But this story I heard I cannot forget. Agriculture is a big part of village life in anatolia and during the summer months people mostly went to reap their crops or water the crops before dawn sometimes even midnight, this meant that you had to walk alone in the dark for 15-20 minutes until you reached the fields. So in this particular story a man who lived with his wife and had no children went outside to go to his fields. While he was walking he heard a wedding noice from the distance and this is very weird considering it was a weekday, but he eventually reached the fields and watered his plants. He took the same road back to his house keep in mind it was still dark outside. He was exhausted and kept stopping in between then suddenly he saw the wedding and “the people” also saw him. They invited him to the wedding saying: “you must feel exhausted, come eat and drink with us” to which he couldn’t say no. He sat down and ate of their food and just watched as they were celebrating and dancing. It was getting late and the sun was rising. He just then realized what was happening, when he looked at their feet, it was reversed so this is when he realized they weren’t humans. When he realized this he fell into sleep. When her wife had alerted the other villagers because her husband hadn’t come home(there are lots of wolfs and bears here) they had all begun to search for him, he was later found in the middle of the fields next to the road he took. He was covered in mud and was in shock. The second story: Hamam’s are Turkish bathhouses and we have specific streets in each city filled with hamam’s. So this one takes place in one of them. One day a man was walking down hamamstreet and he had this sudden urge of going to a hamam. He went inside and bought the ticket from the only worker. then went through the inside door where you get your specific hamam cloth after that he changed and went inside. It was packed inside so he decided first to lay down a bit on the big heated stone in the middle of the hamam. So after a while of staying in there he realized something off with the people in there. Their feet were reversed and this made him wary of his situation, he went and changed back into his clothes and went as fast as possible to the worker of the hamam. He said that there were “cin’s” inside and they were bathing. To which the worker replied how do you know that they are cin’s, he said that their feet were reversed. The worker than said calmly “Look at my feet was it just like this”. It indeed was like that. The man was scared and quickly left the building, he kept running without looking back until he found some people on the next street to show them the building. So he took them to the street, then to the specific building. From the outside it looked normal, but the hamam was closed. Then the people who had followed him said that this building was originally a Hamam but was out of use for a long time. They later called the police and opened the door, they had found a used cloth and bought ticket lying around in the building.

Jinn are created from smokeless fire. If you’re wondering what that is, it is what we call electricity. That is why some genies are usually portrayed as having a blue color, and the same applies to the color of the “gods” that some Hindus worship. Genies came to many nations and deceived the people into believing that they are the gods. Often these “gods” are blue, which is the color of electricity( also what lighting, blueish white (fire), is made of. Many genies in old tales are known for saying “I hear and obey”, or your “wish is my command”, which is what modern technology companies are trying to provide us with. With Siri for example, you speak, Siri hears, and does it’s best to obey. Technology companies often use the blueish colors to symbolize the future, for example if you look up “artificial intelligence” on google, and go to the images, you’ll see strange robotic faces many of which have bright blue light and run on electricity aka smokeless fire.

Do keep in mind though that when it comes to stuff like this, there are Islamic concepts of Jinn, and then there is the added folk lore. Magicians use jinn to to perform black magic, and jinns only help them through a binding of a contract. Also known as "selling your soul to the devil." Some rural regions in south Asia consider them as spirits with special power and give offerings to them for luck etc. According to Islamic history, jinns were scared of humans but it was the human who started to give undue reverence to the creatures and took jinns as deities and worshipped them. And the jinns been mischievous began to deceive and played on the misconceptions.

I have experienced Jinn on several occasions throughout my life... if thats what you want to call them. Native Americans refer to them as Skinwalkers (shapeshifting sometimes evil pranksters). I spent a lot of time exploring the deserts of the American South West with my 4X4 and during those times experienced things I cannot explain. I totally believe they are real. No Doubt.

Jinns live everywhere near human beings. But they are invisible.
@johnbarker3673

I can also add: Jinn can also take on the forms of humans and appear to them. In Islam they are responsible for powers of magicians and soothsayers as well. (they make pacts with the magician or soothsayer for giving them stuff basically). They are also responsible for many pagan religions. Humans can also be a shaytan so, that's a thing too.

Although it's origins may be somewhat rooted in Arabia, the interpretation of Jinns as actual creatures is very common in Islamic societies around the globe, especially in Asia, where more than 60% of the worlds Muslim population lives. Many people accept their presence as a part of the reality (driven by real life experiences), not just a myth full of ambiguity.

@@7Cymatix @MrMysteryMan Ktk I see only now this msg, after receiving another message. Both times it happened in areas where garbage is. The first time in '98, was coming back home from city walking. There was a container at the end of the street, normally there are 2 containers now there were 3. From one container there was a loud sound coming as if something is seeking food. It was no dog, as the sound was too loud to be created by an animal. I didn't feel comfy, took my keys from my pocket. This created a sound. When I had the keys in my fist, yes I was somehow scared and feeling uncomfortable. This area where the containers were is normally very soft light, now it was somehow more light than usual. Then suddenly there was an entity standing beside the container. I am tall, 207cm (6 foot 9), this entity was much taller as I am. Was dressed in all black, didn't see feet, and was as if was floating above the ground. The arms were long, very long, near knees. Long black hair. Was keeping the arms next to the body and was looking at me. There were eyes, but I didn't see the rest of the face, no mouth nose... only white... I shit myself. I turned my head to the left, then back to right. The container was gone, and the entity was gone. Years later I had another experience, was driving my bike past a garbage company. Saw more of them. Was not prepared for this, so drove faster away. Came back after that several times, but have not seen it again. Whatever the message may be, back then I didn't know how to handle and would experience fear and not feeling comfy. Now, many years later after many different experiences seeing entities in other postures. I think I would not walk away but go there or stand and see what the message is. But again, who knows now how I would react then. This entity I would describe as male, as that was the feeling it gave me.
