I'll be honest, this tent has confused me from the first moment that I saw it.

those straps with the grommet are anchor points if you wanna stick poles in there and stake out a tarp over your tent. used in mountain tents a lot. you can also tie them out with cordage making your floor more stable because of extreme wind. btw just get some classic thin aluminum poles that will fit those grommets. it helps keep the floor down so wind doesn't catch. also, can be used to hang up and dry tent, very convenient, eliminates having to hang any part of the tent itself on the line or draped over. typically those straps are reinforced, to the tent body and should be ideally, very strong and secure, no worry of ripping. otherwise it's maybe junk copying how other stuff looks, but without providing the function. and they also help when initially setting up in strong wind, you stake those out temporarily, as second hands, so you can stake out the corners really tightly while the fabric is flapping all crazy in the wind, until you establish stability. you can also just anchor them to trees or poles with cordage. i have them on my Northface tent.

Yes the grommets are obviously for a cordage tie off. Then a peg at the end of the cord. The floor level is the only thing that can be stabilised that way. Maybe it also could be used to stop the tent flying away while you get it set up.

It is not just about getting a tent, or any product for that matter, for less money. There are greater concerns here with regard to a Chinese company luring you to use their site so they can get inroads to steal data or plant malware in systems around the world.

I’ve watched a lot of his videos but one thing I can’t understand is why once you’ve found a 60 quid tent that’s normally 300 quid why do tell the company that makes it and get it took off the market that makes absolutely no sense to me

Perhaps what this company was doing was illegal to the company that made and produced the tent in the first place. If Temu bought a bunch of these tents at a sharp discount, and then sold them at a discounted cost without the producing company’s knowledge, then the producing company will be taking a loss for their product. So it’s not just about the consumer saving money, but I am not averse to getting a good deal.

@@Xeno-M. - If the manufacturer didn't want to "take a loss" on their product, then they wouldn't be selling them at a discount to other distributors in the first place! As for "sold at a discount without the manufacturer's knowledge", that's just BS. Once it leaves the manufacturer, the reselling discount price is none of the manufacturer's business. The manufacturer has already made their profit. How much profit (or not) the distributor chooses to make, is entirely up to them. The manufacturer doesn't get a say in that.

Wow! $51.00 for a tent?! We all wanted one, I’m pretty sure many would have bought one. Why on earth 🌍 would you call the company and tell them anything? Is a need to feel important? I don’t get it. On a separate topic you called out a scam where people were buying plots of land to be or Lady or Lord, what you didn’t understand is that people realize they don’t really get a plot of land, it’s all in good fun and people spend money for this intentionally. Please stop ruining good deals. Please research before you speak. I think we watch you now to see what dumb thing you’re doing now. Very rarely. Very, very rarely.

Luke, I do rely on your reviews and look forward to them. Actually, when I am in need of an item I wait to see if you have reviewed it and then I will make my purchase depending on your review. So thank you very much for what you do. With that said, I am not very happy with you contacting the manufacturer of the tent you purchased on Temu for such a great price. I did want to buy that tent for my daughter but by the time I looked it was no longer on Temu. I guess would like to understand why you felt it was your responsibility to let the manufacturer know thus taking the opportunity away from the rest of us.

What's really bad Susan is that most people actually think that the name brand is the manufacturer when in reality everything these days is made in China to an Owners request and specs. When the order is filled or that product is being discontinued the Chinese company keeps the remaining products and sells them under another name on places like Temu. It is perfectly okay for them to do so and I agree with you that reaching out to the company name brand was pretty low, almost like a "Karen".

Susan a Karen for the simple version is someone that tells something, thinking they are making a difference but in actually is hurting the situation. Urban dictionary list it as; An entitled person that complains to the manager about things that other people would not complain about. Yes, I have as well watched many reviews and took the advice on products shown on the videos. Alot cheaper then buying one then deciding its not right for you.

I returned one dress that I accidentally ordered the wrong size and I had the full refund in 3 days! Great review video, but seriously, dude? "I waited until I got my own tent for super cheap, before blabbing about it, and ruining the deal for others". Not sure if you're in the same world as the rest of us, but things are expensive as hell. A great deal here and there would be great for others. If I find something like that, I tell other people who might want to buy it so they too, can get the deal.

What happened was the manufacturer of that tents sold it to temu and temu did not do a price mark up. The other company did a 300% mark up. Which has been the base of every business in america. You messed it up for us now we cannot buy it anymore. Every business in America does a 300% markup on everything since the beginning of America it's in the books.

When I was in the navy, I took a tour of a shoe factory in Pusan Korea. They were manufacturing Nikes. As I was watching the shoes come off the line, suddenly they stopped having the “swoosh” on them. The tour guide explained that to ensure quality control a number of shoes were to be discarded from the line startups and stops, and to identify the shoes to be discarded, the logo was not sewn onto them. About a year later, I was shopping for shoes in San Diego and saw both the with logo and without logo versions on the shelf, but the logo versions cost $100 more. Naturally I bought the cheaper version. About a year after that, I read that Nike was suing the manufacturer because the logoless version wasn’t supposed to be sold, it was supposed to be destroyed. Maybe it was something along those lines. As far as reporting it, that is the honorable thing to do. If it wasn’t some kind of fraud, no harm, no foul. If it was, standing by and doing nothing would be wrong, regardless of if it made you pay more or even unable to purchase the product. Complaining that you didn’t get a chance to get in on the scam doesn’t impress me.

P.S. As for the tent, although it is a unique design, I will reserve my judgement of it until we see how waterproof it is. But as for me I will Not be buying it on Temu or any similar site from this country, even if I am paying more. Sometimes principles come before money. Strength and honor Luke.

I had a Kelty Gunnison 2P 2015? years ago that was really similar. It had the roll back awning but not the back vent. It had a single zip fly entrance on the back.( The pole was not the same 2 x single pole. ) I suspect the extra grommets are just a universal application option. They may offer a option with 2 awnings and or just allowing mistake free setup.

I like it. Good green color. Decent room. Five pounds is acceptable to carry in a backpack. One of your better ones. Definitely a ONE PERSON tent.

Not for multi-day hikers. There's enough room for two, especially with all that mesh to keep it from being too stuffy. If someone needs all that room, they're more of a camper than a hiker, not that it's a bad thing - just different.

@@danielkutcher5704 , when you sit in a coach seat on an airline, that seat is 17 inches wide. The tent is 36 inches wide, so you get 18 inches each.... if 2 of you are IN that tent. That ain't enough for most people. It IS indeed.... a one person tent. In contrast, a 5 by 7 trail tent, or pup tent, that scouts use, you will get 2 and one half feet each... in width to sleep in. Thirty inches wide. Which is a lot more width to sleep in than 18 inches.

I have quite a few items from Temu. Clothing can be a bit dicey, however, I've gotten some fun shirts and a great camping table that was half what others go for. They always send an email to check in on your purchases. I've had no problems with the company thus far. Thanks Luke for helping out those of us who don't have big money to spend. So far, as you've illustrated, I like the tent!

I have a habit of attaching guidelines to tarps or tents at the points that are most likely to be used and have additional lines in my kit in case I choose to change my setup. I didn't notice on the rear vent if there was a way to add tie outs so that it can stay open in case of inclement weather.

I'm no Temu fan or any other cheapinese company for that matter BUT the opportunity to purchase one of the previously mentioned tents vaporized. As far as this tent is concerned: those straps are sewn in the wrong place to be stake outs, maybe for cot or hammock use. Waterproof? I doubt it. Thanks for the video.

I guess I just don't understand where the "double decker" portion of the tent comes in. I grew up in MA. living in Three Deckers (3 floors, 3 appartments). Been to Germany many times and rode on Double Decker (2 floors/levels) busses. I honestly thought there was going to be two levels, sleeping areas inside the tent. lol Maybe they meant if your significant other is sleeping with you they have to sleep on top of you! 🤣

I thought of a shelf above your head that could store some light gear and whatnot without taking up space on the floor. Would be kind of neat now that I think about it. Unfortunately this tent does not have that, so I too have no clue where the double decker comes from.

Montana government has banned temu from being used on any of their phones because it's a security risk, according to them... my husband is from Montana so that's all I've heard about it. There are statements from Montana in regards to this. I find that interesting.

If you have no issue with Temu, that is your decision. I personally won’t buy from a Chinese co if I can help it, (it can be very difficult with Amazon and Walmarts in abundance). Unfortunately many Chinese companies operating in China have used their companies to steal user data and conducted larger cyber attacks. I don’t trust these companies as a result myself.

If you can trust Chinese run companies, good for you. Given China’s track record with stealing user/intellectual data through companies run in China such as Lenovo, Wawei, TicTok, etc., as well as conducting further cyber attacks, I just can’t bring myself to trust such companies.

Well after reading some of the comments I see that I had a similar idea about those straps, I was thinking that they can be use with another pole to make it more stable but it will also need a way to attach to the tent it self, now they can be use to hang the tent to dry, which I think it will be the best use for them but if you figure it out let us know.

1P may have stood for 1 Person? I like the tent, been wanting to see an actual review of it. Glad you did it. This tent reminds me of my 1P Campall Mountaineering Tent 4 season ( Mine does not have the snow skirt). Looks like a crab to me. 😅😅

Actually it is not that you would have a problem shopping on Temu. It is the possibility that Temu, at any time at the behest of the Chinese government, could steal your data and conduct cyber attacks on your government’s systems without you knowing about it. Is Temu doing this now?? Perhaps not, however they Could at any time.

I'm thinking those grommets are for wire stakes for windy weather. Those outside flaps over the vents/windows are common on Africa's canvas tents.

IF anybody was truly worried about waterproofing: buy the $5 can of silicone waterproofing spray (by boot cream/saddle soap). 1 can should about cover a tent that size (the outside of it). Big box retailers, CC processors etc KNOW about the IP/brand theft on Temu/Shein: its fundamentally apart of Chinese culture: "Why make your own product, when you can save time/$ and just copy a known successful one". Its part of their lack of belief in IP rights, (rights in general), lack of privacy, etc. As far as govs/corps go...as long as the 0s in the $ amount are large enough, its not worth time to fight against it: and fighting IP/brand theft in china is like fighting the wind.

Long time watcher. Just a thought on the 4 unknown straps. Could you tie them out to the fly stake out points to hold the side of the tent out. Just a thought.

With the door set up as an awning I think it would drain water right into/over the door sides thus pouring rain water right into the screen part of the tent... the width of the awning needs to be wider than the door to avoid this dumping of water right into the "dry" awning/door area. I wouldn't want it for $25 dollars unless I was using it for non rainy weather which usually mean sunny day which then means the dark green would make it HOT inside. Maybe a lighter color would catch my attention for dry camping days.

I think those are stake out points but designed for peg style stakes. I suspect the design of the tent originally called for those kinds of stakes and somebody found some different style pegs for cheaper and included those instead to save money.

Luke, you screwed the people! Temu gets brand names and sells them without a lot of markup. I know you like to do due diligence but sometimes things are just good deals. Temu asks for reviews on all products. That is the space to bring up concerns like information and the gromments.

Ive always been curious of the tents off temu. I have yet to find a tent that is spacious and light enough without breaking the bank so i just use a tarp tent set up

I really like the design. Weight isn't too bad. I do less backpacking anyway. Nice. I bought an indoor/outdoor thermometer from temu only because you had used it on this site and nothing bad happened. Haven't got it yet. Free shipping and lower cost than Amazon by a decent margin. I think the straps are just to pull out the tent a little wider.

I do not know why those straps are there. But I too have made some purchases from Temu and I only had one issue with one item. I purchased a heated jacket. When I got it, I put in my own battery bank because it didn’t come with one, And only the collar got warm. I contacted Temu within an hour. I had a refund and I was told to keep the jacket. I’ve never had that fast customer service from anyone let alone from an overseas company. I recommend. I’ve had their products for about six months now and they’re still working fine. We’ll see what happens in the long run. But let’s face it if you’re paying 1/4 the cost and something supposed to last 10 years and this last five years I think you got your moneys worth

A huge window in the rain fly that opens in such a way that there's no way it will stop rain from entering if the window is open. Seems like a recipe for disaster to me, but looking forward to what the testing shows.

I'm far from a conspiracy theorist about things like this, but look further into the company than one of Luke's videos. It's a Chinese company, so outside of not having any real way to legally retaliate should they decide to screw you over, it is a law in China that companies deliver all customer information they have to the Chinese government. There's absolutely no benign reason the Chinese government needs the banking and personal information of foreign citizens NOT residing in China. And China isn't exactly friendly. Stick to eBay or Amazon for your own security. Would you give a Russian company your personal information? It's the same with China.

I've heard most of the "problems" with identity theft and the like come from the app. I've ordered some garden stuff from there one time and so far it's been good. I plan to order some more stuff on the near future. But I have and plan to only order from a desktop computer. I will not put the app on my phone. I find no reason for them to need to have me grant permissions for most of the things it wants permissions for.

That's not my experience. Delivery way quicker than AliExpress or Wish, had one issue with a non delivery of one item in an order of three. I was given a credit note straight away.

that has never been my issue TEMU does immediate refunds WITHOUT RETURNS that's a feature I have not found with any other international online retailer... TEMU are very good to trade with despite the trade issues between big countries.... I'm waiting for Russia sanctions to be lifted Id like to trade there too
