@@guitarsolos89 Looks like you didn't understand what you watched. During the whole conversation, Riley was making up excuses to his friends about why he needed to dispose of the gun. He said that the police might think it's him who killed her just because he has the gun. He won't make those excuses if they already knew he did it. He was even pretending that he didn't know how she died as he was saying that it was impossible she wouldn't run for help if she was shot watch 24:30. But I do agree not all of the friends are innocent, the third person who was with him when he came surely know what's up. Weirdly enough even though the narrator says the third guy is sus nothing came of it. Another thing to note was the text message with the two who ratted him out about how Riley was angry that they told the police he had a gun. The two replied that if he was innocent he won't be afraid which triggered their meeting later that night.

@vixenrevitup
@vixenrevitup Рік тому
I was, and still am, a pretty shy person. As a kid, I found making eye contact extremely difficult, so my mom drilled it into me that it’s impolite to not look people in the eye when conversing with them. She also said that I couldn’t get a job and function in the real world if I refused to use eye contact. So I practiced using eye contact because I feared the repercussions were going to be as drastic as my mom told me they would be. As a result, I never break eye contact in a conversation and notice immediately when the other person does. I have, indeed, found an excellent job and function just fine in the real world. However, my mom definitely made it much more drastic to a kid that couldn’t have been more than nine or ten years old at the time, but I don’t begrudge her too much. She was raised in a very strict family, violated many of the societal rules of her generation, then had me and my twin in her 30’s. While she never went to the extremes her parents went when raising her and her three sisters, she did want her own twin daughters to have good moral character. If, in those days, making and maintaining eye contact was a sign of respect, then her girls would do it. Edit (because I accidentally hit “send” before I finished): In hindsight, I don’t think my mom ever meant that getting a job and functioning in society was defined by one’s ability to maintain eye contact in a given conversation. I think she meant it as a gateway to adulthood. Maintaining eye contact does show engagement. It helps people who work in retail/customer service, some of the first jobs teens and adults get. You can’t perform well in entry level jobs if you can’t converse with your customers on eye level. If you can’t perform well in entry level jobs, then you’re certainly not going to perform well in higher positions. It makes me wonder what the science was about eye contact back in previous generations. As interrogation videos show, eye contact can be a red flag. Was it considered one by investigators back in the day? If so, why was there a higher emphasis on it by people like my mom, grandparents, and teachers? So much to think about! Since so many people have seen videos like EWU’s where they break down the interrogations down to the minutest details, I wonder how many people look at me and my unbreakable eye contact as a sign of deception…?

I think it’s worth mentioning re: abusive relationships, they’re often only abusive 5-10 percent of the time. That leaves 90-95 percent being blissful, thus making it easy to believe getting the shit beat out of you once in awhile from the most loving partner more acceptable. The ratio of this is too often not pointed out and it makes it harder for people to understand as to why victims stay

No, I don’t think the majority of people think or accept that getting verbally or physically abused even 1% of the time is acceptable. There’s a lot more to it but regardless of how nice a person is for a percentage of time, it doesn’t make up for the abuse suffered. There’s a combination of low self-esteem/ not feeling you deserve better, manipulation by the perpetrator, attachment issues etc. if you know what a loving relationship is and have experienced it, even one incident of abusive behaviour or red flags stops you in your tracks. It doesn’t mean you leave straight away, but you start contemplating then planning to leave.

Suicide is the last redoubt of a man/woman without hope. When you have no hope, you stop looking at the world through the lens of "what do I have to lose?" and start evaluating things through the lens of "what wrongs can I right in the time I have left?" For some people, the wrongs they wish to right are friends or family not receiving as much as they are owed. This is the cause for the common behaviour of suicidal people to give away prized possessions to close friends or family. It's actually a very important warning sign that someone has given up on life and is preparing/planning to end their own life. For others, especially those that have suffered injustice (or what they believe to be injustice) they will fixate not on ensuring the people they love are 'taken care of' prior to their demise, but instead on people who have wronged them getting what they deserve. When someone has committed to ending their own life, they are at their most dangerous. The only thing (apart from personal ethical codes) that keeps people from striking out against their enemies is fear of consequences. If you're already committed to ending your own life, there are no consequences left for you to fear. You're already going to do to yourself far worse than anyone else could even threaten to do. This is why a lot of suicides express feelings of 'freedom' right before they act. They feel truly free, from all consequence, probably for the first time in a long time. Woe betide crossing their path if you've wronged them (or they believe you've wronged them.)

There are genuinely nervous people who would show so many of these red flags just because they are nervous or get anxious or afraid etc. Basically no matter what you do you are going to look suspicious. @ohainickify
@ohainickify Рік тому
What you have to take into account is that there’s an *environmental baseline* for everyone. A person who’s naturally nervous/anxious whatever, will be that way throughout the interaction because it’s their baseline. What you want to focus on are “hotspots” which will be *deviations from the baseline behavior* - either an *increase* in behavior or a *decrease* in behavior. A person who’s naturally fidgety and anxious, in response to certain questions, may actually either *stop fidgeting,* or show *even more fidgeting and then go back to their normal baseline.* This is how you know when you’re on the right path of questions - you use an hourglass method: you start off very wide, cast a broad net, and ask simple non-intrusive questions, like their simple background info to just gain a feel how they act during routine talking, then you start narrowing down things, and when you hit hotspots, you know those are things, items, places, times, etc you need to focus on. You can widen back out and change the subject, then hit a hotspot area again later and circle back with another question that relates to the subject and see if you get another deviation in behavior to confirm it. The behaviors themselves aren’t indicative, it’s the *deviation from their normal baseline behavior* that makes it an indicator.

@@michaeld4137t 100% does take courage. You clearly have never been through an issue with police involving victims or a serious crime. Within coming forward, they opened themselves up to being investigated, they opened themselves up to having to depositions, possibly go to trial to testify. All that 100% does take courage. It takes a lot of bravery to come forward against your friend and give info on them to police to get them arrested, based on your own words and actions. That can be very scary and intimidating, especially for a child/teen. So you’re completely wrong. Many people with common sense would want to go to police over serious issues, but due to fear they choose not to.

I'm a guy of similar age to Riley. acknowledging the fact that someone who was given the gift of a 2year relationship at this age and instead of being thankful, decides to commit such thing is truly infuriating and unbelievably sad. Women and especially girlfriends need to be respected, loved, and protected. Knowing the fact that while I'm unfortunately not successful regarding my desire to have a girlfriend, someone else in my desired position eliminates their partner for absolutely no reason is just a pain to my heart.
