In some countries, phone brands like sony, motorola, htc, and lg are just disappeared, people would love to buy them if someone sells them. Chinese brands, like realme and others, offers huge incentives to sellers and distributors, so that is maybe one of the reasons people don't buy sony, because people in some countries just don't have access to buy those smartphone brands.

Completely agreed man. I had 3 smartphones throughout my life : Samsung galaxy ace Sony xperia z Sony xperia xz premium And I have been in love with Sony phones ever since, they are just awesome. But for some reason they stopped shipping it here (Iran) around 4 years ago and the market they had doesn't exist here anymore. God I wish they were still available here.

I don't think Sony even remembers they have a Smartphone division.

For last 14 years I was buying only Sony smartphones because I love the way their phones are built and works. I was trying Samsung and some other brands but I always end up giving it to my wife or son and coming back to Sony again. I just got Sony Xperia 1 III and it's awesome.

Man, ever since I had my first Sony phone, I never wanted anything else. They are prety hard to break and long living. I have my current one for almost 5 years now (I'm obviously not an enthusiast, just a regular user) and the screen never broke, which is impressive, cause I never used any protective screen or case. And the software still works amazingly.

SONY: "Hey, here's the best phone from us." Also SONY: "It's not for sale"

I was an apple and Samsung user until now. Will switch to Sony once they release Xperia 1 V in may 2023. It is not because such features are appealing only to enthusiasts but with the fact that Sony is not doing any marketing of their phone line ups in USA plus they do not have any contracts with mobile carriers like Samsung and Apple.

I've been using my Xperia 5 III for a couple of months and I'm very happy with it! Glad they kept the SD card slot and headphone jack. Still using those features all the time.

Literally the only marketing I've seen for Sony phones is characters using Sony phones in Sony movies.

Funny how sony gives you a free top tier headset with the phone and apple doesn't even give you a charger in the box anymore

A brilliant analysis and extremely well presented. I had a Sony Xperia smartphone in 2014, but over just 4 years the processor started running slow, battery got hot and wouldn't hold charge for very long. I enjoyed using it for photos and Xperia movie making app. The waterproof construction and shutter button were great features back then. The main phone and tech stores where I live in Madrid, Spain, do not stock Sony phones anymore. They are full of the usual brands and more recent ones, nut no Sony. I asked about it, they say you can only order online.

Sony phones are like that really good tasting food you haven’t heard about or seen at any restaurants.

You’ve literally given their marketing team everything they need to properly launch their next phone and I’m willing to bet they see this video and still repeat the same mistake.

As always, amazing clarity on a fundemental subject- ie brand awareness. I hope that Sony gives you feedback on impact on sales (and hand you a big bonus). BUT if you are going to sell a $1000 phone, you had better make sure that the sales pipe is stacked full or else you are wasting everyone's time and money, and the brand manager needs a different job...

I sent messages to Sony Canada asking why they don't sell Sony Smartphones here but they never answered me

I've always wondered about this too. My dad uses a sony phone and led me into using them too. I currently use an old flagship Sony Xperia 5 and is a bit outdated to the newest ones but is still an awesome phone to use and is good enough for me. Its so slim, compact and is perfect for everything really.

I remember owning the Xperia Z2 and Xperia P before, the Z2 was insane at its time and the Xperia P had one of the best designs ever

Watching this video I can imagine engineers at Sony being quite pissed off by the marketing and operations divisions.

I have a Xperia E5 (2015) which is being used by my daughter actually to watch UKposts and play games. It literally flies and the battery lasts like crazy(never changed it) and never fails to load everything you throw in it. I mean, Experia phones are lit!

I love sony phones and im always a fan of that brand. That all started when they released Xperia mini and that was 2012 if im not wrong. That tiny smart phone was so brilliant with its hd camera and the sound is so loud when using headsets. my friends and my workmates started to buy sony after seeing that tiny smart phone of mine. And the fact that, my xperia mini is still alive until now.😅 it is now 10years old. there is that down side of it and thats the battery 😅 no hardware issues until now except for removal battery. Btw great video. With that phone you are having a pro camera and at the same time a phone. I just wish to have that kind of phone again😭😭😭😭

I have been using Sony Xperia XZ1 for about 5 years now without much problems, in fact it's an amazing phone. But I live in Chennai,India with a population of 85 lakh people and with only 1 Sony Authorised service centre.

I have been using Sony phones exclusively since I started buying phones. They are incredibly durable compared to every other phone company. Their built in and default apps are incredible and intuitive. The only issue is they are super expensive and not ever sold in my country so I gotta locate unlocked phones from other countries that ship here.

This video has more views than Sony sold phones in 2019. Crazy.

Ive been using Sony phones for over 10 years and I really don't understand why people neglects em , they are pretty much the pioners of many nowdays inventions for phones and they bring quality for a reasonable price.

Great review! I only go with Sony for my phones...but you're 100% correct. Their launching is dismal, and just try to FIND them! You won't see them at ANY of the carriers -- some whose staff will actually look at you oddly and say "I didn't know Sony even MADE smartphones." And you NEVER physically SEE them at ANY of the big box stores to check them out. Sure you can "order" them, but I'm of the old-school and need to SEE a product I may be spending $1,500 to $2k on BEFORE taking the plunge and a very real high "restocking" fee should I find it won't suit MY needs. Specs are great, as are other peoples' VIRTUAL opinions...but I have my own very REAL ones to fulfill and live with on a daily basis. Sony makes superior products, and if more people were aware of their smartphones -- could actually SEE their smartphones -- the story would be quite different! In fact I'm in the market now for my next one (no Samsung or iPhone for me)! My only problem is...getting to PHYSICALLY see it first! P.S. I've never seen a dumber marketing strategy for some of the best smartphones out there!

My first Sony phone was the Xperia P. Then i got the Xperia Z1, Z5 and finally the XZ1. All these phones had beautiful finish and performed really good! I've since moved on to 1plus but i would love to return to Sony Xperia again.

I just bought one of these 2nd hand, like new. I was looking at Samsung S21, but now so pleased I got this. The things you don't know sometimes surprise you.

All I can say is - Sony has a great engineer and software team. Sony has a bad PR and Production team.

i've been an avid Sony Phone user since they acquired Ericsson. (Ericsson cellphone user prior to these Sony brands). My first Sony-Ericsson cellphone was the Xperia Acro S (awesome sturdy waterproof smart phone!). My wife had the Xperia Go (awesome smaller sturdy waterproof smartphone also!). Then i had the Xperia ZR, my wife got the Xperia Z1 Compact, then the Z5 Compact. After those, i upgraded to Xperia ZX2. My wife got the Xperia XA1 Ultra and she's using it 'til today. Finally, i just got my hands on the midranger Xperia 10 ii as my daily driver and to be honest, serves me well. Here's what i can say: Sony Xperia smartphones are well worth a look. Love it or hate it, they are awesome, well-built smartphones!

I recently got a Sony Xperia 10 IV, and was shocked to get a headphone jack because weirdly, my previous phone, a Sony Xperia XZ3 didn't have one! Still though i love Sony as a brand and i love their phones!

It's April 2023, I am watching this on my 2nd hand Sony Experia 5 Mark II, bought 2 days ago for a very economical price. I can tell you one thing, it's beautiful and elegant device. Worth every penny! Loved it!

My mom had the old xperia like xperia z I guess and I still remember it was one of the best phone apart from nokia lumia 1020 we had from 2010 to 2017

I know when the first 4g phone came out I purchased Sony e4G and that was a wonderful user interface and experience on this phone except the camera opening speed everything was fine and I love the style of phones that sony creates it looks very good

I love that I can actually comfortably one hand use the Xperia phones, a highly overlooked design element

The early Xperia Z had huge issues with the batteries and for a while Sony used weird "permanent" protective layers on the screen, which turned out to be not-so permanent and eventually got holes etc. To get them off without killing your display, you'd have to heat it up and be quite skilled/lucky... and it would also remove the "Sony" writing on the front.

This made me realize the good times when HTC was coming out with incredible smartphones. Good times.

Just switched my old Huawei p30 pro out with the Sony Xperia 5 iii 2 months ago, it was on sale here in Denmark to 3900kroner which amount to 552 dollars so almost half price. I wanted a smaller and lighter phone for work and this is build fantastic with only an 6.1 inch 21:9 Cinema Wide Screen but without Gorilla Invictus only build with gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back in a aluminium frame but still very durable.

This is the only phone that I would actually call it “pro” such an underrated phone.

If I were a Sony executive, I would seat all people in charge of the cell phone department to watch this video.

I've only ever seen Nathan Drake use an Xperia - and he's quite literally built into the Sony PlayStation.

From a big Sony fan from Japan, I have the same frustration. 3 years ago when I bought the Xperia Touch, a smart projector, my mind was blown away. It was by far the best peice of tech I bought ever in my life, and I still use it heavily to this day. Everything about it was innovative, and it felt like the future. Honestly, it still does in 2020. A UV light touch sensor projector with an android OS, which you can gesture control, up to a 128 inch full HD screen. This was a revolution. However, the product got discontinued. Reason? No one knew about it. No one knew that Sony released the Xperia Touch, no one knew that Sony discontinued the Xperia Touch, and no one knew how much of a masterpiece it was. Why dont people buy Sony products? The answer is simple. It has been simple. Marketing. At this point I’m thinking about just taking over the marketing department and fixing it, just so I can get my self an Xperia Touch II

My first smartphone i bought was a Sony Xperia Z3. Awesome battery life and amazing camera. Switched to an iPhone 8 Plus after the screen completely shattered and wasn’t worth repairing.

Sony's marketing has always baffled me. They have amazing design and engineering teams, but their product naming, announcements and release windows make it too hard for consumers to care in such a competitive market - especially with so many other great products out there already!

I'm looking forward to the Xperia 1iv if that phone's as good as the specs say. I might have to fork out the hefty price-tag

I did once. I bought Sony Xperia Z2. I only bought it because it was waterproof. I really wanted to film underwater and use my phone while I take shower for some reason. The waterproof feature wasn't available on other phones so this was really unique.

As a Brazilian it's really disappointing when Sony announced it's leaving Brazil. I've been using Sony phones since 2004's Sony Ericson. Passed through Xperia 10, Xperia 8, Xperia Z5 and now I don't switch my Xperia XZ Premium for anything. Not even the newest flagships. Grat content!

Back in 2014, I got my first Sony phone. It's the Sony Xperia. I loved it until it crashed for some reason. When I went to Sony to have it fixed, they said the motherboard needed to be changed and it was expensive. The customer service was bad. That's it for me. It seems that they just didn't care.
