No, that plastic was not from the fish eating it. Fish disgestive systems can't break it down and it ends up passing through as waste. If their systems could metabolise it, it would turn into the meat of the fish. That plastic is more than likely from the packaging plant itself. Doesn't take much for tiny bits of plastic to be floating in the air finding its way into the can before closing.

There’s actually an area called the pacific garbage patch the size of Texas that is just a giant clump of plastics humans created. On top of that, It’ll take hundred and hundreds of year to decompose because plastic is so strong on a microscopic level

As someone who has watched their own ceiling collapse with water, it is one of the most horrific and disheartening things to watch. Afterwards, It’s not the cleaning up that’s the worst. It’s not even the hole it self. It’s what’s on the other side. It’s when things dry off and it’s the fifth day after the hole has been dried up and you have to pass under it for some reason. There’s a small part of you that fights to not look up into it because you aren’t entirely sure what you’ll see. It’s a double fear of possibly seeing critters or a boogeyman. And also “I don’t know if I can afford to get this fixed. Oh god what else is going to fall apart?”

When I go fishing in the sea near my house (UK) there is often bits of plastic on the line every cast when I reel in. Always thought the fish must end up eating a huge amount of it. Working at warehouses has taught me no matter how plastic free any given product/ packaging is there will almost definitely be large amounts of single-use plastic used just for storage and transport so anything claiming to be plastic free is 99% of the time just a lie. Changes need to be made asap

The tuna one is missing major context, 99% of canned tuna is farm raised. Meaning they are feeding the fish food mixed with plastics as filler. Much of our own food we eat like white rice is mixed with small pieces of plastic as filler, the body can handle small amounts and is passed by the FDA. You would be shocked to learn how much of our food has sawdust, early 1900s a company attempted to see how much filler they could put into flour when producing bread. It worked out well for them and the FDA passed many products with excess sugar when companies wanted to create an addictions for their product, its similar to cigarettes' adding nicotine. Now we have convinced our youth smoking tobacco is terribly bad, while people drink soda every day.
