I remember years ago when she used to be so emotional when she struggled and a bit down on herself so it's magnificent to see what a cold and calculated monster she's become on the tennis court while also remaining so humble with all the success. I really wish she played with this same mental strength against Muchova AO 2021. Once Ash reads your game, she’s able to predict every move and counter then turn to offense. Because Ash is not a huge ball basher and prefers variety and tennis smarts over hitting the fluff off the ball, I've often found that her game is under appreciated. Barty's game harks back to 90's tennis. When it was more about variety and tennis craft than hitting bullets. I'm glad she is shutting up the haters with her incredible tennis right now

First saw Barty play at the Nottingham 250 in 2016. She had some crafty slice shots back then, but her forehand wasn't in the same league as it is now. She's like a different player now.

What's always interesting to me are seasoned players (ATP or WTA) are much better at coming back from loosing the first set. Sabalenka can 100% out power Barty and it took some adjusting, but Barty has more tricks up her sleeve (change the pace, hitting different kinds of shots/serves) and really goes for some of those angled shots. Sabalenka wears her emotions more on her sleeve and you can tell she gets frustrated that Barty can even get those. She sometimes will hit a winner and assume it's over and then doesn't have a reaction plan. Hard to tell from highlights but I'm also assuming she's not super consistent on groundstrokes either. Well played and I think Sabalenka has definitely improved since I last saw her in 2019.
