You should make an game mode called "amplified" when all the things are just increased so much. Jumping you could jump onto the crack house mantle could launch you onto some powerline, all projectiles would be like a quarter speed etc

You know this could be like a class perk, like mantle boots that can launch you high. Requires a wall and good for shooting in the air or escaping, downside everyone can see you and possible will shoot you down

double jump was a glitch , i say keep it and use it to make the game iconic , the whole thing of it's too game breaking but it's fun , if its fun it's not game breaking it's and perk to the game

I love the diagonal mantling, it feels like one of those unintentional things that a game has, but becomes something of a strat to learn adding to more skill and uniqueness. Like quirks people figure out in PUBG or CSGO

I honestly think that dificult movement should be in a shooter in such a way that its not needed but can be used as a flashy way. Games are meant to be fun after all so I stan this unintentional movement tech

Definitely agreed, recent games' movement is so... boring and slow. I'd love to play an FPS with intentionally exploitable mechanics that you actually need to learn to use, instead of "press shift to fast" but move at a snailpace otherwise

​@@limitlesschicken9518 Oh yeah, that's definitely one of the best recent-ish movement shooters... need to get back into it lol I find that older games (or even indie games) have actually fun movement much more often than newer ones. All the AAA game companies are going for hyper-realism and graphics instead of just making games enjoyable with mechanics you need to master

Love situational movement tech! Could be fun to have a deployable shield you could use both as cover, as well as a portable source of vault bouncing. Idk just a thought

Having a movement community is really important in a game (like bhopping and surfing in cs). It keeps the game alive for an even longer time and it's really fun to go places very fast

So the game Paladins also has a similar mantle system. If your character is standing near a vertical surface (usually, but not always a wall) then the character will get additional jump height so that they can make it over ledges and such. What's great about it, is that the additional jump force ALSO applies to your movement abilities. So for some characters like Willow, Ruckus, and especially Pip, part of their mastery is learning how to use the level's geometry to make their movement abilities fly further. If you want an example video, there's a "How to Play: Pip - Grandmaster" video that demonstrates the concept in the Weightless chapter. In Paladins, the mantle effect used to be more restricting in that you had to be facing a wall in order to get the additional jump force, but they changed it so that you only had to be near a wall which not only made it easier for the average player to use the additional jump force tech, but also just decreased instances where you thought you should have the additional mantle force, but it failed for some reason.

Use it for "ladders". Have a volume that ups mantling enough to get "up" the ladder (or climbable wall area) to the top.

reminds me of a movement tech on murder miners that lets you jump super high in the air if you run and dash up a diagonal little thing of blocks (not the best at explaining it but murder miners enthusiasts know what i’m talking about) not entirely sure why it happens but my guess was since you could wall jump up a wall, it counted the wall jump for all of the blocks you ran and dashed into and sent you flying. not sure why i’m explaining this as it has nothing to do with why this is happening but it’s murder miners and i like murder miners and i think everyone should play murder miners :)

A fun mechanic to explain the diagonal mantle jump thingy would be to add a kinda wall run thing. Doesnt have to be super fancy or anything, basically you can jump off walls to change direction quickly or gain a short speed boost in the direction you were already going. I like movement in video games, so having this kind of thing would be very enjoyable i think.

It might be cool to try a wall-jump mechanic, where you can bounce off the wall, turn around midair, then mantle onto the ledge. It might be broken but it also might be fun

This reminds me of the Crysis (1 on PC) wall jump. If you jumped into a wall, the character pushes you back off the wall, but if you look slightly down, it will push you up instead of away. If skilled enough, you could perform several pushes off the wall and scale whole building with one jump. Crysis had many breakable mechanics like that which made it very fun to play.

That's really awesome! You should make most of these types of things available in the game settings so players can make some fun and interesting variants on your gamemodes. I'm sorta thinking about Halo 3 custom games here.

You could set up a condition for the wall height or the object height being limited upto a certain height/distance and only then can you mantle over it. :)

Gamemode: Arm day (Both the X & Z movement is slow and unusable forcing you to find ways to use Y movement) I haven't kept up with your videos, so I have no idea what your going for at the moment, but still sounds like a somewhat good idea

I remember playing a game as a kid where you could jump out a window, you can do a throw in mid air (like throwing yourself) and land on the roof of it. Could also interrupt fall damage with it and it became a very high level and hard skill to master (fall damage was harsh so you had to get the timing perfect), They removed the mid-air throw and it just neutered movement options and killed a lot of the enjoyment I had for the game as now zipping around a map was much less fun to do in practice as you could only run it rather than jump through buildings.

This little unintentional trick reminds me of Paladins:Champions of The Realm. In that game because their is no crouch button, the devs added a similar "upward boost" mechanic to allow players to clear chest high walls. The thing is because the "boost" works as long as you are a)moving into the wall and b)slightly looking at it when you jump, it can be used by many of the advance mobility characters to improve their mobility even further.

can you make it so there's like a little transition before getting launched, like a little ramp around all obstacles at floor level that only the physics thingy can see, maybe you'd have to make mantling manual you run up to the wall, from like 30 to 50cm away you can press mantle, the forward speed decreases and vertical speed increases, so it's a little less harsh

one _bad_ thing about boosting too high though... ... gives more time for enemies to aim at you while you're in the air and (i'm assuming) have little to no control over your movement

I'd definitely have gravity lifts or launch pads if you wanted to make it a feature as map design would be easier to balance it (an infamous example of map balance being nearly impossible to account for thanks to movement tech was Halo 5's mantle mechanic - custom community-made maps were constantly broken/exploited).

Add ULTIMATE MOVES, the player could pick one in some menu system, and if you use the ultimate it goes on cool down for a while before you can use it again Make it so some ultimates are better than others, but in exchange, it has a longer cool down the stronger the ultimate
