Aaron converted this vintage baby blue school bus into a debt free tiny home for less than $4,500, and the interior design is absolutely stunning.
You can follow Aaron and his bus adventures on Instagram here:
/ aaron.einer
He traded an older vehicle for the bus, and used mostly reclaimed wood to build DIY storage spaces and a bed frame; and the countertop is made from a goat teeter totter.
Most of the decor has been thrifted and specifically chosen to match the era of the bus, which is a 1959 Ford B600 Warden Master. Pretty intense name for a school bus isn't it?
Since filming the video, Aaron has insulated the bus conversion for winter, and added a full solar power system for off-grid living.
The skoolie's name is Dorf because a previous owner switched the "F" and the "D" in Ford on the front grill, and Aaron's dog is an Australian Cattle rescue pup named Chevy.
Aaron built this school bus conversion because he wanted to try something new, exciting, and off the beaten path, and so far he's been having a great time exploring British Columbia and meeting new people in the bus. He says he has to build 30 extra minutes into his schedule every time he takes the bus somewhere to account for all the time he spends chatting with people.
We filmed this video at the Go-Van El Campo meet-up in BC, where we had a blast meeting other nomads on wheels. You can follow Go-Van on Facebook and Instagram to find out about future El Campo meet-ups:

I did this with a '72 GMC shortbus about this size. Built an awesome camper for under $2,500 (in 2001). In a momentary lapse of reason, I sold it in 2006. Got $4,000 for it....AND REGRETTED IT EVER SINCE!!!! I wish I had my bus today!!! It was nice! One of my neighbors was remodeling their kitchen, & GAVE ME their old cabinets!! Selling it ranks among my top 10 regret's in life. Don't make my mistake! Keep that rascal no matter what!! Good Luck, & Green Lights to ya!!!

Capt. Awesome so get yourself into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt to be chained to for 20-30 years and then maybe be able to pay it off barring any freak downturns in the economy, and then continue to pay property taxes every year on it or forfeit your property... lol okay. I don’t think debt free is really the right term to use here. That’s actually getting yourself into a huge amount of debt with the hope that one day far into the future you won’t be in debt anymore. That was very practical and achievable a few decades ago, but it seems to get harder every year.

Did much the same in my youth. It was incredibly fun and rewarding, but it was also hard. The problem with dealing with the law and where to park and not get harassed is ultimately what got me to stop. My advice is either go totally camper conversion in the most visible way possible or if I did it again I would go stealth. If you do something cool and novel...something that obviously required work, you will tend to get a little more respect by the law when you are confronted...having some heap falling apart is going to attract the law like flies. I have been thinking of buying a cargo trailer and converting it very stealthy. The fact that you can detach your vehicle from it has a lot of benefits. If I did it right it would look like any other "landscape" type cargo trailer. In theory it could be parked for short times virtually anywhere. That would be pretty cool.

cindybin2001 As you might know, no one except you knows, that you have said it a „billion“ times. Your argument is not wrong, but what exactly is your problem now? Am i not free to decide for myself, if i care about this issues, which might actually not apply/matter? People are free to be the way they want to be, as long as it doesn‘t harm anyone. You might probably argue that it harms kids that think that tattoos are cool, because of people having tattoos. But aren‘t their parents the ones to help them grow up being able to make decisions by themselves? What good is hiding reality from them, except you don‘t want people to develop a understanding for reality. It‘s okay if you don‘t accept people with tattoos, and you have your reasons. Thats totally fine, but please understand, that people aren‘t all the same.
