Bruh… I consume content on this subject all the time (some even for school) and I’m so mad at myself for it only just this moment hitting me that super intelligent AI has no reason, need, evolutionary pressure to develop consciousness. I admit… I always thought it might, or would. For humans, consciousness was literally a no-brainer. Most animals have evolved a feedback system of differing levels of what we call consciousness or awareness which actually helps us stay alive and undamaged. For us it’s helped us develop our theory of mind and etc. My mistake was forgetting that AI may not have any of the evolutionary pressures which impacted on us over the eons.
