“God’s day” sounds odd to us. A religious person might say “the Lord’s day” but nonreligious person is unlikely to say it. Great show!

Thanks for the translation. My French wife has no patience for this, but I know that different music and cultures can express themselves differently than the old school sleepy mainstream.

My French tutor says the same as you......but......he says the formal way will never be wrong, just not trendy. Another one is using nous instead of on. I am trying to break this habit of using nous, but it is difficult. Also in writing, it will be the "formal" way - non?

Bonjour! I want to be a volunteer English teacher in France. I am a retired English high school teacher, college professor, and university supervisor for student teachers. My wife Cindy and I plan on moving to France with the Long Stay Visa. We were in Ukraine last year helping a new school open in Lviv; I was Deputy Head Master. Slava Ukraine! We want to contribute in some way during our stay in France. What schools would you recommend? Merci! Dean & Cindy

It’s an old video, probably nobody will read this but in Mexico we have a lot of accents: northeast, northwest, occidental, central (chilango), costeño, chiapaneco, yucateco. If you’ve heard a Mexican speak, it was probably a chilango because most of the country lives there. I am from the Northwest and in here it is, sadly, common to make fun and even discriminate against people with central accent.

Her French just blows my mind. Usually after the age of 12, one is no longer considered bilingual. Either she’s extremely gifted or she learned it from early childhood. Just from how fluent and natural she sounds, one would think she was a francophone.

I am an anglophone from Canada, living and working in the national capital, Ottawa. Because I am originally from Newfoundland (the big island next to St. Pierre et Miquelon), I have found it interesting to hear québécois complain about present day Acadien French speakers, from the east coast of Canada, mainly in the province of New Brunswick. I even had friends who tried to speak French with their Acadien accent to get a response in English because some parts of Quebec are very bilingual in English and French. I found it fascinating. Being from Newfoundland, which has many dialects of English that sound very different from the rest of Canada or the USA, I have always found accents and dialects intriguing.
