Watching this on an M3 Pro and the only difference i noticed nowadays is: even brighter lighting, thunderbolt and no more express cards! Macbook's haven't changed too much over the years...

I wish they kept the serviceability of this g5 insyead of having it all behind the screen. The newer imacs are a btch to swap drives and graohics cards in.

Watching this 18 years later on my M3 Pro MacBook Pro 16". It's amazing how much Jobs' intro on performance-per-Watt mimics pretty much exactly what Craig Federighi and Tim Cook said after they announced Apple would be switching to making their own CPUs. This is my very first MacBook ever, and I'm already a huge fan!

I have 3 of these first gen (1 is the “take 2”) and loved them. I’ve had a large iTunes library since the early days and this was a perfect way to get stuff into the main system.

Why didn’t Apple consider the AMD Ryzen platform ,when Intel couldn’t meet Apples power efficiency and performance per watt requirements.
@BlitzvogelMobius5 днів тому
Apple was in talks with AMD about using Llano APUs but I think Apple was concerned about AMD’s ability to supply enough chips. Intel had a sound CPU efficiency advantage that AMD wouldn’t be able to approach again for years. Llano’s potential in graphics however would’ve been a great lower cost option compared to Intel + GPU Macs.

It's April 2024. We've reached the point where people alive today don't know an Apple under Steve Jobs. That isn't a bad thing, but it IS quite literally IMPOSSIBLE to show them this low quality video and they "get it" why this was the biggest thing ever. Not understanding the irony that there is a high chance they are watching this video on their iPhone...
