6 років томуSorry I took so long to publish this video I've been super busy for the past few weeks filming so this video is out like... so late. And like nobody else is talking about it anymore hahaha...
While I was procrastinating the publishing Shrey already gave like a billion other interviews to continue to bring attention to himself even though he self proclaimed that all the hate he got is driving him to depression. Ok. So yeah this video was written and filmed before I saw his interviews, therefore none of the interviews are addressed in this video.
I just wanted to give a nice summary video for this complicated saga and everyone who seemed to have misunderstood my POV.

Agree 100% with xiaxue.. I am from the Philippines. Everyone tells me I don't have the Philippine accent.. haha but when my Singaporean colleagues ask me to do it.. or when they try to imitate it.. I don't get offended. Ofc am a minority here being a foreigner.. and actually most of them assume that the accent is for their maids.. but do we get offended? Nope. Because we take pride of being able to contribute in our hometown no matter what profession we are holding. Also cos we know all know that accents can be really funny.. we ourselves copy other accents to poke fun. Such a hypocritical move from that guy. Instead of promoting love and awareness, he is promoting bigotry and hatred towards others. Love you Xiaxue. Haha ❤️❤️

agree with you, and also understand those angry ppl. However, I don't see it as a racist thing. A professional actor shld have ability to act professionally, it's just bcuz the director asks to make a Indian accent, he as a Indian feels it's racist. But I don't think he will get angry if the director asks him to do ang moh or Chinese accents. It's really really not a big deal. If the director asks him to do special thing, it must be sth helping to make the movie better and more impressed.

I mean, if i am trained to be a professional actress, and the movie needs a character like this, i would definitely do it. after all it is just an audition. No matter what kind of accents the director asks me to do, i would like to try my best to do first. :)

Even without the airing dirty linen aspect of it, publicizing stuff like this makes it less likely for potential employers to give him a go. Anything trivial that happens he's gonna hop online, cry about it, and bring a ton of negative publicity on his potential employers. Not many masochistic morons would sign up for that shit.

I'm a Singaporean Indian and I totally agree with you . I don't think you should check your Chinese "privilege" because this idea is a bloody western term. Movies or any kind of frictional media contents are very difficult to put into a conclusion that the content/character is racist or stereotyping because it is very subjective and depends on how you want to interpret it. Hmmmm I don't agree with casting an actor to play a character that is solely his/her own race because that enables stereotyping but I don't agree with the guy complaining about it all over Facebook either because it was really not that big of a deal. There's also the case of hiring a person to play a different race (like Scarlett Johansson in Ghost Shell but that's another story), so where do we draw the line? You're absolutely correct about everyone having different levels of tolerance and understanding. I suppose having an open dialogue and talking about the topic, the way Xiaxue has done, is so much better than having this "us vs them" arguments because it opens up different perspectives and experiences towards the topic.

Humour is either when you do/are exactly predictable or the completely unpredictable at the right comedic time. So it's inevitable that stereotypes would thrive in humour. Because it is what is agreed to be predictable. You might want to change it, but you can't completely remove it.

I feel like xia xue is right here. And maybe the casting director at the audition wants the indian character to be like this, and hence wanted to see if he can play it well (i mean some people of their own race dont have a strong accent of their own like chinese acting angmo (i am chinese so dont call me racist 😂) so they wanna see how well you can do.) if you're at the auditon they wanna see what you can do for the character. No one gives a shit if you speak like a singlish person if the character isnt suppose to be like that. 💁🏻 also don't use the excuse the director told me to do it.
