I'm pretty happy with Fluid Motion Frames. Saw all the coverage that basically panned it in beta, but just used it today to play the Last of Us and it took me from 50-60 when I originally played it to 100-120. Sure, it introduces a bit of lag that is noticeable, but it's something that you get used to in games where you don't necessarily need super short latency. Nice to see AMD putting up more of a fight after this generation.

@cerebelul Yeah, but frame gen adds 28ms of lag on top of the 8 or so at 120fps. Not terrible, but noticeable. These numbers all come from the Radeon software.

Amd fluid motion frames is a genuine game changer. It def will help users extend the useful lifespan of their graphics card. Especially consdering how expensive gpus are these days. Im sure people would want to keep them as long as possible. Lets just hope game devs dont develop their games with " fluid motion frames in mind"

its unusable if your native frame rate is under 60 fps. frame gen of any variety does not increase fps or performance in any capacity. its frame smoothing technique and feels terrible when coupled with low native frame rates. far from game changing ive been playing around with it on my 7900xt and ya it looks smooth but small artifacts but you imediately notice a disconnect between your inputs and what your vision is seeing. completely unusable in fps really only usable in slow paced games like alan wake 2.

But it's not good??? It adds latency and a lot of it even with anti lag added, it also turns off with any real movement of the mouse... It's also useless unless you at 60 and way above. In what world will it help GPUs last longer???

@@Devin7Eleven yeah but it still doesn't fix either of the problems. Input lag and any sort of fast movement ( not really even fast ) will turn it off and it just looks bad.

I'm playing warzone with fsr 3 and nvidia reflex on+boost on rtx 3060, I haven't noticed any increased latency durint gameplay yet

why would we really wanna use frame generation? u get smoother visuals but the unresponsiveness is still there as if it was at low fps, heck even increases the latency... I dont understand, people are hard to understand the older I get, like if everything just is stupider or rather more of people get naive and just buy whatever companies says....

I'm having issues with my oculus rift s on my 7800xt after updating. Everything is a green hue. I rolled back the driver and it was fine after that. Hopefully they address it soon.

Unless you've been getting the top of the line NVIDIA cards you've been overpaying then. Haven't bought an NVIDIA for almost a decade now. Just got a 7800XT and can smash games at 1440p 170fps

Thought it was just me. I picked up a used 6700 and upgraded from a 580 8gb and downloaded newest drivers. I have been getting a little bit of stuttering in World of Warcraft but I thought it was something to do with the new gpu.

I am having green screen like hell with these new drivers I don't know what happened I figured my GPU was going out but later today I'll rollback and see of that helps with my 6950 XT... If it is the card I'll just have a better excuse to go ahead and buy the 7900XTX Red Devil this weekend 😏😏

@@alkine3011 🤣 it's definitely the drivers. I rolled mine back and also have to go into task manager and end the amd adrenaline app to play games, but it is smooth just like before

@alkine3011 also if you do end up getting 7900xtx make sure you won't be CPU bottleneck, like me lol. I just got 7800XT but I have a 3700x cpu, some games my GPU is sitting around 80% utilization because my cpu just can't push anymore frames. The jump from 3700x to a 5800X3D is MASSIVE for high FPS

I have the 6700xt. I run around 100fps fortnite at 4k on my Samsung 120hz. No amd architecture activated. Just boosted clock speed of my 5600 a bit. I also have alienware aw3423dwf monitor as well and I run around 120 to 130 fps with the exact same setup I have. I do some programming of my own

Amd fluid motion frames activated in my 7900xtx on 1080p mw3 multiplayer gave me 700 fps 😂

FMF works well, the drivers however have cause Battlefield 2042 to have stuttering problems.

thats because you shouldnt be using FMF for FPS -specially because the frame generation introduces lag, its more for single player or story mode games, not competitive fast pace input games

@@avrgegmer1396 Didn't have it enabled in BF. Tried DUU and reinstalled among other things. Still stutters so rolled back. Unfortunate, because I want to use FMF in other games. Hopefully gets patched.

I had the same stutter problem after installinh 24.1.1 but disabling then re-enabling resizable bar im the smart features tab. I also turned one of the vsync options in adrenaline since already have amd freesync. Those changes worked get rid of 99% of the stutter

I'd wait to see what happens in a few days when the 4080 Super is out because AMD might drop the prices a little more and a 7900 XT at around $699 will be an "amazing" deal or an 7900 XTX for anything under $900 will be golden I'm thinking $879.. But remember later this year RDNA4 is supposed to be able to have 4080/7900XTX level of performance and they claim it'll be in the $500 dollar range but take that with a grain of salt 😂 Also factor in "time" If you buy now you can enjoy it now no one knows what 8 months down the road will bring so also gotta factor that in when making these decisions...Sorry for my long read 😂😂

I just switched to AMD (7900 XTX from 3070) and honestly, I love it. the software is amazing, and AFMF is a VERY nice feature, and I don't really notice any artifacts and such while it is enabled

The 4060 & the ti version is a no go. It's simply not worth buying, when you can get a much better card both from AMD and NVIDIA at a similar price point. Sure the 770 Arc is a much better card, its just a matter of more driver enhancement 👍

Actually, I don't really support AMD's focus on frame gen software. but supports AMD to improve ray tracing hardware performance. because AMD used to always prioritize hardware over software .

Still not as good as FSR3, but it's better than nothing since for whatever reasons took their sweet time implementing FSR3 natively, by the time they update games i want to play, i probably finished it already, so far it's like you said good on slow paced games like BG3 and Starfield, and bad at fast paced games.

I think the update with the Fluid Motion frames is pretty dang cool. My wife's pc has a 6700xt in it. I updated the driver to try it out in World of Warcraft and it works good. Before you couldn't really max out the graphics in Wow on a 6700xt with Ray tracing on High.

Calling motion smoothing "more frames" is like calling motion blur "more frames"... it's just a fancier motion blur

You have the two terms completely opposed. Motion blur is adding blur to an existing frame. Motion smoothing in this context is _adding new frames._ That being said, any framerate pushed high enough (at least 500fps, 1kfps to be safe) can be used to create true motion blur.

I tried it and hated AMFM. It is bullshit and it only gives the illusion of increased performance, numbers, not smoothness. Reverted to 23.12.1 because on the new driver many games stuttered a lot

Also you need to have vsync off and variable refresh on , and that will fix the latency and working right , anti lag on , worked with cyber punk my latency is 20ms which is a huge improvement from 40 , and I’m running at 100 with fsr set in quality .

This new feature for me is an alpha/bata implantation of DLSS/FSR and needs a good few years before it’s actually half decent imo. I will give some credit to Radeon for adding this as part of their drivers for people to try. Frame Generation for me on my Nvidia GPU is garbage and not worth it un its current state and it offers nothing I feel, to gamers. You need a high base rate ~80+fps before FG to get a “smooth” experience where this tech would be most beneficial is for low fps situations for lower end GPU users, not high end ones.
