Technology doesn't have a parabolic increase that goes on forever. I was sure my first quad core would play Gamecube games. It was almost 10 years later that I had a computer that could do it. People have been asking for 4K games since the PS4, and 4K gaming is going to be a pipe dream for PS5 Pro.

thats also becouse the new games on the ps5 are way more graphicly demanding, the ps5 is easily able to push 4k 60fps on most games that came out on ps4

The PS5 has 10tflops of fp32, PS5 pro will have 15 or 30, depending on measurement, and the ps6 will most likely Atleast have 60, if not more, making it able to play current gen games at 4k 60fps.

YES. GPUs are getting much worse for the money. In 2016, as he said, the GTX 1060, which was half the performance of the fastest card on the market, was $250. That would be the same as the RTX 4070 costing $300-$330 today when accounting for inflation. Today's cards are HORRIBLE value for money.

Upgrading every generation seemed funny to me until I upgraded 3 times within this generation alone 💀. I went from a 4070 to a 4070 Super to then a 4070 Ti since it was heavily discounted to now a 4070 Ti Super as I sold the 4070 Ti to a friend who had a tighter budget 😅

Why would you upgrade so many times? Also a good 4070 super will have no more than 5% performance difference with the 4070 Ti. It's kinda wasteful to throw away all this money. Just get a RTX 4090 at this point.

I actually have a good reason ish. A friend of mine had a budget of about $500 and I just sold him my 4070 for that amount as it practically brand new and I got the 4070 Super, as I was not pleased with my 4K performance. I ended up giving that one away to another friend who really couldn’t afford a dGPU. I bought a 4070 Ti to get slightly more performance and I would have gone for a 4080 but it was going for $1400-$1600 where I was just a month ago. But yeah I also sold the 4070 Ti to a different friend for about $675 since I had gotten it for $760. I ended up getting a 4070 Ti Super because the 4080 Super I could get was a bit too long for my case compared to the 4070 Ti Super. I ended up switching so many times because my friends wanted upgrades and they have done me solid ones in the past.

I planned of getting a 4080 Super for the 16Gb of VRAM but the specific model I was looking at didn’t fit in my case so I went with the 4070 Ti Super to get the 16Gb of VRAM, that model fit into my case so I went with it. 4090 is double the price of my current GPU so no I wouldn’t buy it. I only switched so many times because I sold them to friends.

yeah its a small budget nightmare. before the 4060, i still hoped we will get performance between a 3070 and 3080 with less power... but since the launch, the 4060 feels more like xx50 type card. i think hw unboxed mentioned that. you can see it on the buildquality of the cards, there a few well done cards as always, but more smaller cards an more plastic cards. the typical xx50 look. would love to see more performancegain on the next gen cards from green, red and blue. all in all im not excited anymore when new cards hit the market. if you want a midrangecards, pls pay the high end price, if you go on budget u will get not a good price to performance card. dont know what is going on, the main audience will or can not buy high end stuff or will pay high end price. ages before, as the nvidia titan hits the shelfs, everyone said... who will pay so much money for just one component... yeah that wording didnt age well so it looks like there are toooo many guys who will pay it and thats the wrong sign to the market and at least to the brands that threw these things out

Yup. Sounds like Nvidia to me. Not downloading new drivers for older Nvidia cards is a double edged sword. Because while you have the most optimized drivers for your old cards, newer games for your older card that didn't exist at the time, won't run well on your older drivers. In the end, Nvidia wins so you eventually have to cave in and get the newer Nvidia cards. Lol

Yeah I would still pick the RTX 3060 12GB VRAM over the 4060. The 3060 still has decent performance and has more VRAM on a bigger bus. Additionally a minor overclock will beat out the 4060 in a heartbeat. However the smarter move if you don’t need the Nvidia features is to buy the 6700XT 12GB VRAM which is way faster than both of them and is an excellent value at around $300. Additionaly if you are willing to hit the used market you can find some good deals as well. For example an RTX 2080TI 11GB is going for around $250. Yes it’s an old GPU but it still offers decent performance and has about 3 years of driver support left.

NVIDIA has been gimping the 60 series outside of the featureset uplift. Raster uplift has been far too low in this series. Same with AMD, both have issues here. They do need to provide a notelable raster uplift on all their cards for the 5000 series if they want to entice budget builds.

In rtx 30 series, 3050 like a shit. In rtx 40 series, we didn't have 4050 desktop and 4060 like a shit. So, on rtx 50 series we will have no 5050, 5060 and 5070 like a shit?

I purchased the Nvidia 3D kit and they stopped supporting it. Bought 2 RTX 2080's and they stopped SLI support. I'm old and cant keep up anymore. Is there any reason not to buy red now? Do they do ray tracing yet?

They do!!! My 7900xt goes pretty hard with ray tracing, very good experience overall, and it seems to be lined out to get better. DX12 work graphs sounds promising, and they have me very curious as to what they'll end up doing with the AI accelerator cores in the 7000 series. Thats on top of a very good experience currently, of course the new hardware from Radeon on the horizon also sounds very promising and I hope I don't end up regretting my recent purchase, but if everything starts improving I may not.

They suck at RT and have publicly stated that they can't compete at the high end of graphics cards and aren't even trying to. If you don't plan on doing high end gaming with all the eye candy turned on, working with LLMs (AI), doing work that utilizes CUDA cores like video rendering then they are fine. But no, they are not as good as NIVIDA.

@MeMyself-gf7fn For AMD and Nvidia, competing on raster performance is as simple as how large and expensive they want to make the chip. AMD could beat the 4090 if they wanted to, but they don't think they have the brand cachet to sell a card that expensive. Where Nvidia wins is on their software stack. DLSS is much better than FSR and RSR. I don't think AMD has answered Ansel. Ray trace performance is almost twice as good on Nvidia. And Nvidia is routinely first to market with new features. Then there's the elephant in the room, CUDA, ROCm is simply not as good and doesn't have nearly the market presence; plus everyone seems to have abandoned OpenCL.

Rumors say the 5060 will have a 128-bit bus and GDDR6X so expect 8 GB or a clam-shelled 16 GB. Only the 5070, 5080 and 5090 will adapt the new GDDR7.

4060 is what the 4050 desktop would have been but they scrapped the 4050 so that they could keep the price at $300. 3060 had 2070 performance but 4060 is not even at 3060ti performance, more like a 6650xt

Honestly Nivdia should have discontinued them and rebranded it the 4050 with a much lower price of $150 Here is what should have happened with them. 4060 becomes 4050@ $140 4060ti 8GB gets discontinued for Good never to be seen again. 4060ti 16GB gets rebranded as the 4050ti 16GB for $185. 4070 get rebranded as the 4060 super 12GB for around $300

@@chy.0190 then came the miners , the scalpers .. and no one got a 3070 .. few of them folks seeling their 2080ti's found themselves high and dry with no card for 2 years .... then 2023 came and every game started making the 8gb vram on the 3070 inadequate for even 1440p. .. i got a 3070 and every game from 2023 onward i have to run in dlss P mode to hit 4k and even then i got to run med-high setting no ultra or the vram caps out and the game crashes.

220 USD would not cover the bill of materials thus making it a loss to sell any of. The minimum price any company will sell a product for is the bill of materials unless they are trying to get you into their own ecosystem which selling nVidia card's doesn't do for them. The other reason is to get more space in the ware house but as it is using the same parts as other cards apart from the GPU chip selling it at a loss makes no sense.
