We're not united in common goals though. That's one of the issues. We are regularly out voted by other EU countries because many of our goals differ from the rest of the EU. And people advocating for Brexit don't want the UK to stop cooperating with Europe. We just want to do it as independent nations the same way every other country on Earth does it. +splodge i have to agree with you on that... here in Germany language is also a Problem... and I think that anyone intending to live in Germany or the EU because there is war in his country should learn the language spoken there... and most of the refugees I know want to learn German but because German is such a hard to learn language it takes them a while... but there also are people who don't want to learn German and I think they shouldn't be allowed to live here. But most of the refugees I know already speak English... so I thought over in the uk it isn't that much of a Problem there

I'm not especially for BREXIT but your argument is not valid sir. Since the industrial revolution and the birth of capitalism, the world kept interconnecting its economies. During this time the wars were the deadliest. And before the 2 world wars, the world has known a big increase in trading.

I am not a Brexit supporter (anyway I can't vote) but peace is achieved with open frontiers no matter what, even in tough times. You don't need to be in a political union with another country in order to prevent war, open frontiers for capital and human mobility is just enough. Of course the Brexit could be a first and dangerous step to a much less open country.

I'm from England, I don't remember being taught about it at school. No one I know even really knew what the EU was a year ago. I think that is why UKIP have swept up so many supporters. It does not help there are so many working class people who are struggling to get by and believe their livelihoods are hurt by immigration. It also doesn't help that we experienced such a lot of immigration in such a short time. Towns along the south coast have had a culture shock which some ppl (racist idiots) resent.

Plus they have a bigger deficit than Greece (9.5% of GDP) and therefore wouldn't be high on the queue to join the eussr anyways. They had their "once in a lifetime" referendum and voted to stay. If we instituted it as a "takes as many times as you want" quiz, it would educate those who didn't know the answers, and at least force those who know but pretend they don't to acknowledge them. Presently, voter disenfranchisement faces much bigger threats in the UK anyway. Photo ID being needed, for instance. Boundary fiddling to make certain votes (in favour of the current government) count more. The criminalisation of protests and strike action. The continual eroding of public service budgets, including to schools and libraries. The unsustainable cost of living crisis sending students in already undereducated familes to school hungry, and leaving families unable to afford basic necessities, much less internet access or the ability to p*ss off their boss by leaving their 12 hour shift early to go to the polling station. The recent precedent set of it being legal to remove citizenship from people born as UK citizens and make them stateless.
