I was never really a Britney fan so I never watched her interviews growing up but watching the Framing Britney documentary I was shocked at the things said to her it was disgraceful! I'm glad she's got her freedom and I hope she does have more children like she wants its shocking in this day and age that she was forced on contraception to prevent her having more kids I can't imagine not being in control of my body her dad should be thrown into jail what he did to her was abusive!

I’m actually kind of shocked this whole conservatorship was done away with completely. Conservatorships are rarely reversed. Wouldn’t she have to undergo and pass some sort of psychological evaluation first? I mean I’m happy for her and all but just not sure she is stable enough to be completely without some sort of guidance.

She clearly stated she wanted no evaluation since that's all they ever did for her and they always did stuff to go against her and it was a waste of her time. They would always promise her that if she obeyed she would be let go but all lies. So they have taken account of all that and she didn't need an evaluation. Even if she isn't well she can seek for her own help herself with people she trusts and is comfortable with not be controlled or be held in a cage like an animal.

@@EadsB7002 The reason why conservatorships are rarely reversed is because they meant to be a last resort; they are meant to help people who have such dire conditions that they become completely unable to take care of themselves (e.g. clothing or feeding themselves or earning money to afford neccesary things). Most of time these conditions are irreversible (e.g Alzheimer's disease, a severe mental or physical disabilty, etc.) They are NOT meant for mentally ill people who are able to do the things mentioned above. For people who are mentally ill or in the middle of a battle with addiction, the are methods available that help them retain a relatively healthy life. Like mental health professionals, rehab programs, etc. A conservatorship is not meant to do the same, it's not for this purpose. In a situation where there are other, less drastic options, they can even make the situation worse. (As without autonomy, you can't exactly get your life back into your own hands and go back to a healthier lifestyle.) Because they meant to be the last resort, for conditions that are irreversible, it's extremely difficult to get out of them, as the burden of proof shifts to the conservatee (the person in the conservatorship), and they have to prove that they are capable. However, as they don't have their constitutional rights anymore, it's only possible if the conservator (who has the right to decide what the conservatee can do, where he/she can go, who he/she can speak to) allows it to happen. And because the rules for them are antiquated, and there are no proper checks and balances, they are prone to be abusive; and as such, it is even more clear that they are not for mentally ill people who can be helped by other means. (And that the rules should be changed in the future unrelated to how this issue turned out.) Britney's case is really difficult, but we have strong evidence that she should have never been in a conservatorship in the first place. (This is one of the main reason her lawyer was able to get her out this fast, without any examination.) This is backed up by the fact that the beginning of her conservatorship seems very shady, and the people starting it needed some tricks to even get her into one. Specifically, they (the parents, and the busines manager hired after the start of it, helped by the judge) said that she has dementia and is unable to retain a lawyer as she lacks capacity; but they never really provided any proof of this, and even to this day, there is no documents (public or under seal) that would show any scientific evidence for dementia or lack of capacity. So there was no capacity declaration issued by a professional who was right for the case, even though it should have been provided. Moreover, there were some machinations, where Britney didn't get the right to be given notice that there will be a hearing for a conservatorship, even though this is against the rules, (and can only be changed for very good reasons, which didn't happen here). Not to mention that when she finally tried to get a lawyer to help her out, on the day of the hearing the judge ordered him to get out of the courtroom (on the grounds of the nonexistent capacity declaration!), and told Britney that she can only have a lawyer that the court ordered for her, as she lacks the capacity to retain counsel. But even after all of this, the conservatorship was categorized as 'voluntary', so even tough they used the excuse of her being incapacitated to get away with a lot of changes to the rules, she technically didn't enter into a conservatorship on the grounds of her mental illness, but on her own volition. We heard Britney testify that they only achieved this because they told her that she can only see her kids if she does this, and if she does what they ask for a while, it will end. This didn't happen, and even though Britney immediately went to work and memorized lyrics and dance moves and performed shows, went to therapy and took her medication (just like she did before this whole mess!), the conservatorship still become permanent from the temporary one she was in in the beginning. And this continued for almost 14 years, no matter how well she performed or how much she went to therapy. But again, her mental state wasn't a good reason for her to be in a conservatorship in the first place, no matter how bad it was at the time, because she was still able to take care of herself. She would have done much better with a healthy family dynamic (which she lacked form the very beginning with her alcoholic father and enabler mother), some really good therapist, and a supportive spouse/friends, instead of getting her rights restricted and all of her moves monitored and controlled. Remember, that she was in a temporary crisis, not in a permanent one. She was after a pregnancy (most likely having postpartum depression), her husband has just cheated on her, she was in the middle of a stressful divorce, the paparazzi were constantly surrounding her and were displaying potentally harmful behaviour (like trying to follow her when she is in her car), her family provided a toxic environment, and she had no friends because her management and parents did everything to isolate her from people who actually cared for her as a person, and not the popstar in her. So again, this would have ended with a helpful environment soon, she really didn't need her toxic family restricting her constitutional rights and preventing her from growth. For this reason, we really don't need to worry about her mental state after this, as she is in a much better place than she was back then: she has a fiancée who seems to be very supportive and encouraging, has a therapist she chose herself (after the control stopped) and seems to like, has a good accountant that her succesfull lawyer helped her to get, and she now has the ability to choose good and emotionally healthy people to surround her (partly because she saw the dark side of the people she trusted back then, and now has experience that will help her to avoid a situation like the previos one). A lot of people have good hopes that her future will he better than her past, and even if she makes mistakes, it doesn't mean that she is not headed the right way. So I am actually not surprised by how this case sturned out, as following the case by reading court documents and watching lawyers and psychologists analyzing the situation really opened my eyes on what the actual circumstances were.

How about voting to have an anti conservatorship law so people will never lose their rights regardless of mental condition. Conservatorship seems alot like slavery. I hope they abolish conservatorship like slavery was abolished. We need more laws protecting our rights and freedoms. People fought about this alot in the 60s and 70s especially during Woodstock years.
