Lets say in 4 months the 7800xt drops $100. I'd rather have 4 months of gaming with a nice 7800xt rather than waiting 4 months for a $100 price drop. But that's just me.

Yeah, we're too close to the 50 series cards coming out. Plus, shady Nvidia is purposely NOT making 4090's in hopes of forcing everyone to buy a super card instead.

These cards are going to be huge and wont fit in anyones case so why even bother. My advice to people is dont wait for the 5000 series because its going to be a huge flop. The recent leaks dont look good at all because they suggest even the 5060 will use the new 16 pin power connector wich goes up to 675 watts. This means that nvidia could be planning to release a card thats over 700 watts wich would be the 5090 and that thing will be so huge no one will be able to fit it in their case. Now it all makes sense why amd isnt releasing any high end cards next generation because the diminishing returns from node shrinks are kicking in hard. what nvidia is doing is making the cards huge as hell because the node shrink is only about a 10 or 15% performance uplift so they have to make up the slack by making the cards bigger. these cards will not only be too big but they will be a nightmare keeping them cool as water cooling will be absolutily needed to keep them from over heating. anyone who is excited for the 5000 series needs to understand this new power connecter news is a bad omen.

No, the new product isn’t as good as it was hyped to be and it cost more either because of scalpers or supply and demand often driving the cost above the MSRP which is just BS…! Know this, there will always be a new and improved gadget on the next horizon, at least according to the makers and sellers of these items. Unfortunately, how many times have we been let down when that gpu or cpu comes out…? I say too often though there have been some rare instances that we actually saw a great deal on a great product though I say, too far and few between. I have been out of gaming for years and want to get back in. I’m going to build my first gaming computer and get started and I do not want to wait any longer…! I do have a card picked out if I were to buy one right now (RX 7800 XT), but ideally I intend to wait for a few months at least. Maybe I can even stretch it out to the end of year for new releases. At least we should learn more about them in the next few months. Except for VR performance, I don't even need a new card. However, just within the last few days my video playback has started to occasionally act up. If it's a gfx card issue, my timetable may have moved up.

Secondhand should always be looked at with a skeptical eye. You don't know if the card has a problem, do not know if you will have a warranty, and you do not know what kind of use and environment it has had. If you do not have to have something NOW waiting might be a smart move though, the 50 series is going to launch, and AMD plus Intel will not just sit on their hands and let Nvidia rake in all the money.

I'm a 3d artist who does some VR gaming on the side and I'm considering a 4090 since the vram is a must and the ray tracing performance is about 1.4 times better for than a 3090 for the money when I factor in a PSU upgrade. Is a 4090 a good buy given the ray tracing is vital for render speed?

Too Late, I already bought the RTX 4080 super. Upgrading from a rtx 3060 12gb..I did not want to wait any longer because Dragon's Dogma 2 is coming out and I really want to max out the settings.. the 5000 series nvidia gpus that are below the rtx 5090 might be 1.5 years away and who knows where the market will be by then..? might be even worse than it is right now.

I think 7900xt is great value right now. A770 is a joke and it is wrong to mention them in the same category as the rx7900 and 4080 and above. A long way to go with drivers and at best on par with 4060.

INTEL ARC A770 4k can do mid and high setting and RT and be playable. The way RT effects and drops performance it seems like the INTEL card is immune to it and doesn't drop that much compared. What I think needs to be talked about more is APO (Application Optimization). This seems to be coming with INTEL and we got a small taste of it already. 10-50% performance boost is nothing to be sneezed about. H1 when the INTEL Battlemage is rumored to be launched I think will have the APO taken seriously. So to talk about it in depth would open the possibilities also and push INTEL to bring us more.

Most of this goofballs videos on his channel are click bait titles telling you not to buy gpu’s. If you can afford it, and want it, just get it. I spend a decent amount of time gaming with friends and having a rig that plays incredibly smooth with high frame rates is worth it.

I'm getting impatient to retire my EVGA 3060 12gb. I initially bought it as a holdover until I got something better, then when I tried to use EVGA's step up program, juice wasn't worth the squeeze the prices had stagnated or increased. I'm on a fixed income. My PC is technically a 2017 first gen A320M Ryzen pre-built I spent $489 on. I've upgraded stuff over time to have a Ryzen 3600 and RX 5600 XT on that A320M board. I'm more concerned with getting on a B550 platform so I can go to Ryzen 5000 CPU's and getting like a RX 7600 GPU than I am spending stupid money on current gen hardware. My PC still loads fast, still plays games at 1440p over 85 FPS and everything else I need it to do just fine. Why? Because I know how to use the graphics settings in games. Hint: They don't NEED to all say ULTRA GOD TIER LASER BEAM GRAPHICS to work... I'm so sick of tech nerds acting like if you don't have the current gen stuff you're a pleb. No. Plebs waste money on BS that doesn't ACTUALLY matter just to get on the internet and act like they have a bigger set of balls. Ya don't btw...In other words. If you're telling me I can buy a new GPU with better performance within $50 of what I originally spent on my RX 5600 XT, then I don't care what the brand new card is, I care about what my budget is and what performance I'll get for the budget I HAVE. Which is always going to be around $350 and absolutely NO MORE. "But you could spend $450 and get a way better deal!" Your video is just alittle too late, because I just bought a 4070 super fe. So far it's an awesome little gpu, also it looks so tiny in my NZXT H1 v2 itx case. lol If Nvidia would have made a founders edition of the 4070 ti super I would have got that instead, but since they didn't I just don't see spending $200 or more for alittle more fps.

i got a 4080 last year at launch and actually got it at a flat $1200. as long as im still playing games well i wont be upgrading. even then id rather wait for radeon to catch up in performance and just buy from them. I love and hate my gpu. Works great! but ultimately i was robbed/scalped for a feature... I bought cyberpunk with my gpu and played it at 4k with rt+pt ultra at like 70-90 fps. Awesome experience, but ive also seen cyberpunk without. doesnt change the game, and the pure rasturization gameplay is just as good, or is good enough. It looks awesome either way. reshade mods achieve almost the same look and feel minus the insane amount of perf drop as actual rt settings anyways... The only feature i like or find valuable in the current field of hardware is dlss3.0 on quality and same with fsr. near native image or better at reduced resource draw resulting more frames and smoother gameplay. I'd rather the game just run like a boss and wait on textures that are always gonna be fleshed out anyways vs what we have today... games that stutter, feel bad, break immersion with terrible and frequent bugs, are boring, lacking depth or feel like its lacking features, all those negative attributes... but at the end just looks pretty :/ Its essentially like driving a Lambo that has a puny 4-cylinder bmw bug engine under the hood... looks really good and prestigious, just dont expect to make it uphill let alone go past 20 mph.

with the yield/success rate of the next gen vram being so, i doubt I get 500 dollar 3080 performance for next gen.

I'm pretty satisfied with my RX6800 that I bought during a black Friday cyber Monday deal on Newegg for just under 370 with tax included.

Since people bought a 1000$ 4080 super which could have been at least 800$, 50 series is not gonna be cheap plus the 4090 has been stock out since so a new top tear will be 2000$ trust me, Nvidia were trying to change the market and consumers helped did that.

I tried out a 4060 gaming Laptop and got thanks to frame gen more fps on ultra with rtx on than on my 3070TI FE to be honest I am still flabbergasted.

I don’t buy used. I always buy new. I have been burned with used enough times. I’ll pass. Got a 6700XT for 1440p for now. Paired with an i7 6700k it’s held back a little bit. Next week I’ll be ordering a 7900x3d setup. Use it and see if I am happy still with the performance of the 6700xt. I’ll probably end up jumping to a 7800xt. you don't even mention power consumption. RTX 4070 consumes 61% less power than the 6900 XT. RTX 4060 consumes half the power of a 6700 XT while performing around the same.

RTX 5000 series GPUs will not be that expensive. Especially the RTX 5020s.

I spent a pretty penny on my RX 6600 XT, maybe... 3-5 years ago from memory? I spent $700 Australian and crypto mined (dont judge aha) like in a pool to get some money back (tax time screwed me .. still made money though) and got that down to $545 essentially, i hage gotten and continue to get alot of use out of it. My advice, if you see it and its a steel, dont wait. I saw recently a RTX 3070TI for $400 Australian new and didnt pull the trigger. But .. if you dont need it, and the price is not okay, wait aha. Just because a new series of cards comes out, doesn't kill all older video cards. This is the stupidest take I have heard in awhile. I have 100 games. 60% are five years or older. My card (6600Xt) works just fine for them and most new games as well.

It is difficult to recommend the current gen because despite the price drops, they are still massively overpriced... Nvidia across its lineup is still between 100 and 600$ overpriced. AMD across its lineup is still between 100 and 300$ overpriced. Both companies have nerfed some of the performance tiers on purpose and used very scummy marketting to cover it up as much as they could. We thought we were being scalped by scalpers, which was true on the previous gen... but now Nvidia and AMD are the scalpers themselves. There is no good deal current gen...
