It blows my mind that it's noteworthy now when someone is capable of having a normal conversation. Asking questions to move the conversation forward doesn't make him a "good conversationalist", it means he understands the rules of basic human interaction.

I understand what Ilya means. I love my parents to pieces, but as a married adult, living with them while we saved up for our first home it was different. I know they wanted us to make ourselves at home but didn't fully feel like ours. I'm eternally grateful for them allowing us to stay with them while my husband made the transfer from active duty military to a civilian lifestyle. It was a lot.
