Because sadly they are too stupid to get even their software right, nissan ev connect is such a disgrace, the worst crap of software i had ever to fight with, does not work for many month for so many users, the only response are stupid comments like "Dear XXX, we are really sorry that you experience such problems, you can be sure we do everything to solve this problems" .... sadly they are lightyears away from ever building something useful again since Ghosn is gone. .

If your insurer doesn’t know about a modification you’ve made (or intend to make) to your car, and you then have to make a claim on your insurance, they may reject the claim or reduce the payments they make. I could be completely wrong as it's an adapter, but is it within the manufacturers' intent and does it create any risk. If there was a problem with the adapter, who owns the problem? The external charger? The car's inverter? The adapter? The chademo/Tesla adapters seemed to be prolific in the USA. Perhaps I'm too wary.

I think Dala actually discussed this, and the work was started on using a BMW i3's CCS combo 2 and LIM?

It would make much more sense to replace the Type1 socket with a CCS one and connect it to additional CCS hardware and the BMS, just leave the chademo untouched. As far as I know someone did it before.

Mucsan in the Netherlands has been selling a CSS conversion, which they build in for you. So you lose the chademo plug. It's very pricey, so this adapter would be a blessing

This is great point. We had one of those type2->type1 converter stubs for home charger that had its own lead (type2) and the thing started shortcircuiting itself after a year or so (somewhat out in the rain)

CCS sockets have temperature sensor on both positive and negative pins. If the adapter would start heating up, the charger will notice this and stop charging. If the manufacturer puts the correct IP and other certifications on the product, I would not worry much about it! But looking forward to my own teardown after using one in real life!

That will be a huge advantage. I hope it will be produced for mass market soon 👍

V2X is already available on Chademo! It is technically better and more mature than CCS V2X

Yes. I've got a 2012 i-MiEV. While there are only about 2400 of those here in the US, there are around 300,000 (maybe more) Leafs here . . . and they're still making those as we speak. Also, Kia Souls in the 2013-14 time frame and at least a few California-only compliance vehicles from that same period were CHAdeMO-equipped. So, yes, a CCS1-to-CHAdeMO adapter for the North American market is certainly warranted.

For the leverage problem, I'm sure it could be easily fixed with a simple metal bracket or something. Effectively a third leg that wedges between the underside of the adapter and the bottom of the charging enclosure. That would transfer enough of the load to the vehicle from the heavier adapter. I'm guessing it wouldn't need much. Actually, make it from plastic though, just in case....!

Maybe an aditional adapter? :D NACS -> CCS -> Chademo would be crazy!

As you know, we don't have 100kW Chademos here in Finland, and closest one I know is in Norway and would at least like to test my Leafs 100kW charging ability without first driving from Turku to Norway 😅

Leaf works fine at 100kW when you can find one. Charged on a 125 CHADAMO and was still getting 36kW at 85% capacity.

CCS add on to the LEAF is cheaper, but requires way more time and effort. Pre-made adapter will be easy but 30% more expensive.

What do you think the price could be when mass produced? I think the key thing here is that anyone could buy these adapters, but not everyone can replace chademo to ccs. In my country nobody knows how to do it.

ccs1 has a type one connector and ccs2 uses a type 2 connector , so you would need two different adapters , I have only seen cc2 adapters offered to the public so far and they need people like Dala and his friends to test them before we even consider one

The adapter communicates wht voltage it wants. DC chargers have a range of 150-1000VDC. No problem at all!

It depends on how often you rapid charge, and of course the local climate. That might be more of a problem in parts of the States and Spain where the climate can exacerbate matters.
